Requirements:

School Psychologist must possess and maintain a valid Ohio School Psychologist Licensure or an Ohio Psychologist license with a minimum of five years experience. A School Psychologist Assistant must possess a master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations as recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation.

Must possess knowledge of Ohio Education Code, Ohio Code of Regulations and Office of Education schools’ policies, rules, and regulations regarding programs and pupils.

Must have demonstrated ability to work effectively with professional and paraprofessional personnel in carrying out effective instructional or remediation program student/consumers.

Must have a working knowledge of modern office technology, equipment and procedures.

Experience in compliance monitoring of state and federal regulations regarding special education, including facilitating IEP meetings, required.

A valid Ohio driver’s license, automobile insurance with a minimum of $100,000.00 liability coverage, and ability to drive to various sites to provide services a must.

A current background check through the BCI and FBI must be submitted. Current TB test (within the last year) must be submitted.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES:

o Plan and implement weekly arts and crafts projects for children’s group
o Plan and implement weekly educational opportunities for tutoring
o Provide transportation for children using the agency’s 15 passenger van
o Plan and implement activities which enhance education and learning both intellectually and socially
o Design and implement recreational/educational field trips for youth during school vacations and summer months
o Provide supervision and development for volunteers who assist with children’s group, tutoring and field trips
o Provide documentation of all group and individual activities with special attention given to the children’s strengths and areas needing improvement
o Provide information regarding areas of concern with children and parents of the HMLOS program

QUALIFICATIONS:

o Evening hours during the school year and daytime hours during summer months
o Bachelor or Masters in Social Work, Education, or related field
o Demonstrated knowledge regarding educational and emotional needs of children
o Must have experience working with high risk youth
o Must be a creative self starter
o Demonstrate ability to relate to co-workers and clients with respect and professionalism
