Set in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains near Saranac Lake, NY, Adirondack Leadership Expeditions (ALE) provides treatment to troubled teens.

We are currently seeking a Wilderness Therapist for our licensed therapeutic wilderness program. ALE is a character development program that provides a multi-environmental approach to help struggling adolescents change unproductive beliefs about themselves and the world and promotes their personal growth through a focus on insight-oriented experiences. The forested, mountain setting removes urban distractions and simplifies options to help students gain insight into their core values and accept responsibility for their choices. As a wilderness therapist your role would entail addressing the student’s personal issues, helping our student’s overcome their self-limiting beliefs, and developing their leadership potential. As a wilderness therapist you will provide weekly individual/group psychotherapy and assessment and will be able to utilize experiential education, group dynamics, academic curricula, and conflict resolution techniques. You would teach the students how interact with staff and the other students in a more responsible and empathetic way as well as help them to learn from the natural consequences that they experience during their stay at ALE.

With a caseload of 6-8 students ranging in age from 13-17 years, the therapists will perform individual and group psychotherapy and provide weekly family consultation. The therapists will drive the therapeutic process and will ensure that clinical services are being provided. The selected candidate will provide leadership and supervision to the field team on a rotating schedule, assign outcome goals for individual students and maintain records. An ideal candidate will possess a passion for the outdoors, be tolerant of the climate, be able to work independently, as well as be able to do direct and short-term work with adolescents and possess sharp clinical skills.

Program Manager (Albany, NY)

The Program Manager acts as the internal liaison working in collaboration with all MTM departments and Clients to ensure MTM is fully compliant with State/County Medicaid requirements governing non-emergency transportation. The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that individuals receiving MTM services receive the most appropriate, cost-effective delivery of transportation and ancillary services. The Wellness Center Manager oversees the schedules for health checks, infirmary coverage, environmental health and physical and dental exams in accordance with USDOL and Job Corps guidelines as well as screen patients and directs them to the Center Physician, Dentist, Counselor and/or Mental Health Consultant as appropriate. The Wellness Center Manager maintains and revises current health standing orders, oversees and ensures quality and effective health care services to students and works with Counselors on family planning, pregnancy and substance abuse programs.

The Wellness Center Manager develops and maintains an inventory control system for medications, equipment and supplies and ensures the system is in compliance with all applicable state, local and federal regulations. The Wellness Center Manager provides orientation and Career Skills instruction to new students, Prepares medical incident reports, and conducts in-service training for Center staff on health issues as needed. The Wellness Center Manager coordinates health services with other Center staff and establishes and maintains Center medical records in compliance with USDOL and Job Corps guidelines. The Wellness Center Manager also oversees the CNA training program and maintains training in compliance with New York State requirements.

3) At least 6 months hands on experience (that can be verified by a nurse or supervisor) in the last year, as a direct care giver (bathing and toileting a MUST) in a healthcare facility or in a home care setting.

Personal Care Aides (PCA): These are NYS certified positions providing personal care, and housekeeping tasks for members of the community in their own homes. Some duties may include assisting with bathing, toileting, light housekeeping, cooking, cleaning, washing dishes, laundry, and running errands. PCAs are required to follow the patient’s plan of care, maintain simple records, report any problems, and discuss observations with a nursing supervisor.

Cases range from an hour or two to sometimes longer, so travel between cases is necessary. We pay travel time and reimburse you for your mileage from case to case. We have mainly daytime hours available.
