QA Engineer (Albany, NY)
Our Albany-based client has a direct hire opportunity available for a QA Engineer. This position works with the development team to ensure the delivery of high quality, reliable application solutions. The position scope goes well beyond a testing position. It includes a full scope of QA functions. This is an automated testing environment. This is a challenging growth position which requires an experienced candidate who works well alone or as part of a larger team effort.
Responsibilities
Analyze and test requirements on a project by project basis
Conduct maintenance on testing environment variables
Write test plans and test cases for development and execution using project requirements
Complete risk analysis and support for seamless product release
Troubleshoot problems within the testing environment that may impact product stability
Contribute to software engineering process improvement efforts across the business
Job Requirements
Required technical qualifications:
Working knowledge of one or more high level programming languages (i.e. C++, Java)
Experience troubleshooting program crashes and failures
Knowledge and experience working with SQL statements and programming
Working knowledge of XML or HTML
Understanding of industry best practices for requirements and testing
Experience evaluating project flow diagrams
Preferred technical qualifications:
Experience with Selenium or any other automated testing tool
Experience with XPATH and understanding of EDI
Knowledge of programming inheritance
The candidate we are seeking will possess the following education, background and abilities:
BS in Computer Science or equivalent is highly desired
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
Experience working in a highly dynamic atmosphere, capable of multi-tasking, and able to work within challenging time frames
