Rock Band Looking For Talented Singer!!!! (Capital Region)

Three piece rock band looking for a talented, young singer.
Singer should have his roots in the blues and rock n roll, and should be well versed in funk, R'n'B, jazz, and anything else that is really good.
This band is very eclectic, but the nucleus of our sound is a very powerful riff based approach, drivin by a tight rhythm section, and a guitar player that is so fucking good, so fucking original that...well, you'll just have to see it for yourself. Ideally, we would want someone that is a screamer(i.e. Robert Plant, Ian Gillian, Steven Tyler, Paul Rogers(Free-era Rogers...Bad Co. is good and all, but Free will forever surpass them)). But everyone knows that a mid seventies british-blues rock'n'roll singer is really just a white boy singing(a-hem, screaming) R'n'B, so somebody who can sing R'n'B(if you think of "Bump and Grind" by R.Kelly when u think of R'n'B, this may not be the band for you) is much appreciated. Funk vocalists, and Jazz vocalists are also fair game. Emo/Hardcore/Fagcore/girlspants-core/jam band kids/DMB lovers need not apply. We are about Rocking AND Rolling. Not crashing into you, and slitting our wrists.
Ages 18-25. Applicants a little older will be cut slack, just as long as you aren't some middle aged fuck-wad having a mid-life crisis or some shit, like most of these fucks on this site.
We got some connections, but we believe hard work gets you where you want to be.

Looking for vocals and keys for a rehearsing band based in the Cohoes area. Male or female, preferably with no previous band experience or" it's been a long time since...". We are a group consisting of 2 guitars, bass and drums and we recently lost our female lead vocal. We are an older group, average age is in the 40's and several member have never been in a band before. You will have the opportunity to assist with song choice and will help influence the bands direction. We prefer music from the 80's, 90's, 00's and alternate rock so our window is huge. We had all been playing our instruments in our own basements for some time and we got together a few months ago. So come on, get out of the basement and give it a shot and help us become an "average" Albany cover band. We have hopes to play out in 2010 sometime. Need a Funk/Blues/Soul Singer (Capital Region)

Local funk, blues, soul, folk, roots/rock band is looking for a soulful singer (male or female) to front our group and is willing to put in some time to play with some experienced, enthusiastic musicians. If you also play anything else (guitar/harmonica/etc..) that could be a possibility as well. We are currently a four piece (Slide/lead guitar, bassist, drums, and Keys(Organ/Clav/Piano/vocals) looking to pick up a singer with some chops that loves to play some upbeat and/or bluesy material and get people dancing. We are all in our mid-to-late twenties and are very serious about making good music but also have other full-time jobs. We all have some experience gigging locally and really want to get this thing going ASAP with a good singer at the helm. Were all very easy-going guys who like to get together and jam and have a good time. We would love to have a few informal tryouts to see if we can find someone who fits well with our sound. We play a bunch of originals and covers at this point and we are always working on writing more or learning more. We want someone who is really passionate about music like we are and will practice so we can become a solid band and start booking more gigs as a full band.

To give an idea of our sound, we like to play a mix of upbeat rock, funk, and folk/blues to more jazzier, soulful stuff. Some influences are Allman Brothers, The Band, Grateful Dead, CSNY, Phish, Soullive, Neil Young, Gov't Mule, MMW, Talking Heads, Clapton projects, Traffic, Derek Trucks, Taj Mahal, Herbie Hancock, BB King, Buddy Guy, etc... I'm confused

Because of the posting titled "Looking for Above Average Bands". It's confusing because what passes for above average around here is far below average for NYC, LA, etc. So are you speaking in a relative sense? Also, you are asking for bands that play "danceable" music. Could you give some examples of what you mean by "danceable". Do you mean disco? Or maybe more like Madonna (or other flavor of the month pop singer) or are you looking for more of a techno groove? At any rate, it's confusing because I've seen bands with very little sense of rhythm, but the chicks in the bar were so smashed, they shake their ass anyway. So apparently, around here, just about anything can be danceable if the women are drunk enough. Please elaborate a little more fully on what you're looking for.

Just looking for some people to jam out with really. I'm a singer songwriter but always welcome another guitarist. I've got a about an album and a halfs worth of orignal music written and would like to go into the studio but I'd like the clout of a complete band to flesh out the sounds.

What is this company? Has anyone joined? At $50 a member per month it sounds pretty steep. It may not be a scam but it is a sure way to separate a musician from his/her money pretty quick.

The founder claims to be "ridiculously successful" as a radio executive however a search of any radio directory does not turn up her name. C'mon if you were as successful as you claim to be there would at least be a breadcrumb out there on Google, All Access, FMQB, Radio & Records or any number of directories out there. I also find out curious that she designed and managed festivals for 50,000+, yet does not mention them. There are not too many festivals (music speaking) in the US that have that draw. It is strange with all of these accomplishments that they are not listed in the biography.

There are also no bands listed as well.

Anyone have any experience with these people?

Rising Singer/Musician Searching for Band Members (Albany/Latham/Troy/Schenectady)

Hi,

I am an up-and-coming female artist in search of band members (around the ages of 18-26). I have worked with a publicity company out of Brooklyn and am now starting with a company out of RI to help promote/build more of a fan base. I have recorded in NYC and sing in the pop/rock/latin genre. I am looking for mainly a drummer, bassist, & lead guitarist....possibly percussionist or keyboard player may be neat, too. I am looking for members who are going to take this seriously and are willing to tour (starting out locally). But most importantly, to have fun with it!!!!

Think Shakira meets Pat Benatar and other artists like KT Tunstall, Juanes, etc. I am bilingual so that is part of the pitch (but you DON'T have to be bilingual to be in the band) For now I am playing out solo acoustically and the response is awesome so now I just need the band to support it and do popular covers in addition to my music. I have been fortunate enough to have had my music played and featured in podcasts internationally, have placed as a finalist in an international songwriting competition and have had placements in certain online magazines.

String names/ note names, Chords( major vs. minor, open vs. barr, and how to use and blend them to your advantage to give you a unique sound), Picking and strumming techniques, Scales, How to use intervals to your advantage, Harmonies using intervals, Arpeggios and how to use them efficiently, How to construct a chord progression, as well as learning common chord progressions, how to play nasty leads, and style development.

Beginner and Intermediate students accepted. Price is $20/Half Hour, $30/hour. Rock Band looking for sick ass singer! (albany)

Three piece rock band looking for a talented, young singer.
Singer should have his roots in the blues and rock n roll, and should be well versed in funk, R'n'B, jazz, and anything else that is really good.
This band is very eclectic, but the nucleus of our sound is a very powerful riff based approach, drivin by a tight rhythm section, and a guitar player that is so fucking good, so fucking original that...well, you'll just have to see it for yourself. Ideally, we would want someone that is a screamer(i.e. Robert Plant, Ian Gillian, Steven Tyler, Paul Rogers(Free-era Rogers...Bad Co. is good and all, but Free will forever surpass them)). But everyone knows that a mid seventies british-blues rock'n'roll singer is really just a white boy singing(a-hem, screaming) R'n'B, so somebody who can sing R'n'B(if you think of "Bump and Grind" by R.Kelly when u think of R'n'B, this may not be the band for you) is much appreciated. Funk vocalists, and Jazz vocalists are also fair game. Emo/Hardcore/Fagcore/girlspants-core/jam band kids/DMB lovers need not apply. We are about Rocking AND Rolling. Not crashing into you, and slitting our wrists.
Ages 18-25. Applicants a little older will be cut slack, just as long as you aren't some middle aged fuck-wad having a mid-life crisis or some shit, like most of these fucks on this site.
We got some connections, but we believe hard work gets you where you want to be.
