These wonderful faces belong to Bladen County Animal Control in Elizabethtown, NC a very small shelter in a rural part of the state. Unfortunately we don't get a lot of help from the community and we take in lots of strays and owner surrenders. The rescues that we currently deal with are full at this time and can't help us, so we are looking for some outside help. If there are any rescues out there who can take in a few of our dogs or cats, boy would that be a blessing in disguise and we would glady welcome you. As a 501c3 rescue you can pull our companions for free. I adopted my dog and cat from out of state and they have been the best loyal companions I could have ever asked for. These babies just need a second chance, they need somoene who will believe in them and provide unconditional love and compassion. Please help us save some lives, the shelter is full and they plan on euthanizing Tuesday morning since the shelter will be closed for the holidays. (un)apologetic productions will close out its 2009 inaugural season with The Santaland Diaries and a Food for Families Christmas food drive on December 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th at the Satori Gallery, 155 Village Street, in Johnstown.
Originally penned as a “based on a true story” essay by David Sedaris, this one-man show details the experiences and insights encountered by Sedaris during the time he spent working as an elf in the actual Macy’s SantaLand, in New York City. Sedaris is one of the preeminent American humor writers, as well as a National Public Radio (NPR) celebrity. Both brazenly satirical and unfailingly humorous, this comedic Christmas experience is a must see for anyone looking to chase away the compounded stress of the holiday season.
For every five unperishable food items donated, audience members can receive one dollar off the price of admission to the play. While discounts are limited to three dollars (15 items), (un)apologetic productions will gladly accept any additional donations made at the time of the production. Donated food items will benefit Food for Families, the St. Vincent DePaul program that distributes food to local food banks. The mission of (un)apologetic productions is to provide cultural and artistic enrichment to the underserved communities in Western Pennsylvania, while supporting the development of a connection between the idea of art as a service to the community and the other services provided by the many local social service and non-profit organizations.
The Santaland Diaries is being produced with the support of many local artists and organizations, including Food for Families, the Satori Gallery, and STAR productions of Saint Francis University. The weekend of November 21st and 22nd, Starfish To the sea Animal Rescue will be having an adoptathon in an attempt to find quality homes for the animals in our care. Our focus at this event will be our small animals- some of which have been with us for over a year! We need foster and adoptive homes for guinea pigs and rabbits at this time. We will have information on guinea pig and rabbit care and can help you with any questions you may have if you have been considering adding one of these guys to your family.

Making an appearance we may also have our declawed/neutered Van mix cat, Tally or some adoptable dogs, and we'll have tons of animal themed magnets for cars for sale as a fundraiser. We are also selling graphite pet portraits as a fundraiser- interested parties can sign up at the event and the first 5 are guaranteed to be ready in time for Christmas!

We are accepting donations for our small animals: cages (for guinea pigs), dog crates (for bunnies), high quality food, pine chip bedding, newspapers for cage lining, toys, produce (grocery/walmart gift cards accepted!) and other supplies. We will be able to write a receipt for your taxes for any donations either cash or in-kind as we are a registered 501(c)(3) non profit charity.

Please come to PETCO in Richland Town Center, Johnstown on November 21st from 12-3pm or the 22nd from 3-6pm and support our rescue! We fill an important gap in this area being the only rescue that regularly helps small mammals. Without adopters, fosters or supporters, however, we cannot accept new animals- we need you! Our bunnies and guinea pigs are all vetted- the rabbits are even neutered and microchipped! Adoption fees for rabbits are reduced to $25 at this time and guinea pigs are available right now with NO adoption fee. We require an application and a home visit to be sure that you are prepared to add a new member (or two) to your family- our pets are NOT available as Christmas gifts.

Long range plans include implementing an animal-assisted therapy program for children and developing a zoological park in the Central PA region specializing in providing both educational and therapeutic experiences for people of all ages.

I recently purchased a lab. female and was led to beleive that she was spay. When in reality she was preg.

So I worked with my vet to do EVERYTHING needed to make these pups the best they could be. The mother had a very difficult labor and had to go to the emergency hospital in the middle of the night due to the labor ceasing midway through delivery. The cost has gotten very expensive and am asking to recover my out of pocket costs. I am willing to show my bill of sales to show my accumulated costs. Saint Bernard pup SCAM SCAM SCAM!! (Tyrone, PA)

I was suppose to get the free Saint Bernard puppy that was in Tyrone.
I talked to the person who had the pup for about an hour or so last night.
When it was time to get their address they could not give one to me.
It said on their add they would meet up to an hour away to give the pup
a good home.The would not, I also offered to meet
them in Tyrone so they did not have to give me their address...
Also it said on the ad they were MOVING that was NOT the
reason they gave me AT ALL!!!! They said that the puppy is to much work
and would prefer a CAT! They also said so everyone is aware
apparently the puppy is NOT good with other animals what so ever.
That way if someone else is talking to this person they know what I know.
Everytime you call the number all you do is hear music playing

WHITE AND GREY CAT MISSING PLEASE HELP BRING HER HOME! (Windber/close to the Moose!)

I'm posting this in hopes that someone can help us bring our little girl home. She is a grey/white, mix cat, female about a year and a half old.Her tail is simular to a racoon tail and the bottom of her feet are simular markings. She doesnt have a collar on as she never likes to wear it. She is a house cat and always has been since she was a baby. She is very sweet and loves people...she might be shy at first but she will slowly come to you. She loves tuna/can food! She will come to you if you call her Tabby. My boyfriend moved back home (windber) for a few months and had to take our 3 cats with him, and I stayed in Pittsburgh. This evening he noticed that she was missing and that she must have slipped out the door without his parents realizeing it. They have been out searching for the past hour but so far nothing. We are in process of posting flyers and from my understanding they are contacting all the neighbors. My boyfriends parents live like right down the street from the windber Moose so she is around in that area. Here are a few pics of her. She is up to date on all her shots. Looking for good home for lost dog (Ebensburg, Carrolltown, Colver area)

Mr Gibbs was picked up by ebensburg Police as a hit and run dog and taken to a local vet. It has been determined that he was not hit, but has a problem with his front right paw, which is currently being treated. Nobody has called to claim him and we cannot find anyone who is looking for him.

He is estimated to be between 6 and 8 years old and is a collie, lab, possible shepard mix. He is very sweet and lovable, and the vet feels he was probably neglected. most likely tied outside most of his life. They're looking for a home for him. Must be a local home and he must be kept indoors. The vet will neuter him, give him all of his shots, and required care for his leg for free. The only stipulation is he must be kept indoors.

I have met Mr. Gibbs and he is very gentle and sweet, and begs for attention. He would make a nice dog for an older couple. He seems to get along with other animals too. You must e-mail me and I will only respond to local inquiries. By local I mean the Ebensbug, Carrolltown, cresson, colver area.

The Singburi projects are part of a larger campaign and efforts to stimulate rural development with the support of International Voluntary Service. We believe that the impact of the international volunteers in rural communities is an important stimulus to open minds and reduce prejudices. We work a lot with rural areas to transmit these values to the villagers.
The main objective of the international volunteer project is cultural exchange between the volunteers and the local villagers. The participants in the project will also practically work in the communities, getting involved in several kinds of support and development works, such as construction of a village house or a school, etc. The exact nature of the work will depend of the needs of the village at the time of the project.
Study theme: The volunteers will learn about the culture of rural Thailand in general and the traditions and specificity of the Central region. Thai language lessons will also be given to the volunteers.

What causes people to become involved in their communities and with politics? How do age groups differ in their involvement? Dr. Tara Johnson from the Psychology Department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania is seeking participants of all adult age groups (18 and older) to complete an online survey at their own convenience. This study seeks to examine age differences in and predictors of civic engagement.

Participants will have a chance to receive compensation for their time (i.e., raffle for gift cards) and will receive the group results once the study has ended.

Please save me from going to the pound. I am a Rottweiler/Pit Bull mix, I am only 18 months old. My mom says I am good buy, but I need more room to run. My house a half of a house and i just dont have any room. I was raised with a 6 year old, I am good with kids, but can sometimes knock them down because of my size. I do not have a mean bone in my body. I will need some training as I still am a puppy. I need a home or a foster home as soon as possible my mommy just hurt her back and can not take me outside side. My daddy never really wanted me and is not to happy about taken care of me. He wants to take me to the pound now, but mommy keeps trying to talk him out of it. Please don't let me go there. I am up to date on shots. I would like to meet you at your house to make sure its a good home. There is an adoption fee for me to make sure I go to the right person.
