Pharmacy Technician Services (Terre Haute, Indiana )

Global Health Care Group is seeking the provision of Pharmacy Technician Services for the inmate population at the Federal Correctional Complex located in Terre Haute, Indiana 47808.

Facility Information: The Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Terre Haute, Indiana, is a medium security facility housing male inmates with an adjacent satellite prison camp that houses minimum security male offenders. It is part of the Terre Haute Federal Correctional Complex (FCC). FCI Terre Haute is located on Highway 63, 2 miles south of the City of Terre Haute, which is 70 miles west of Indianapolis on Interstate 70.

Period of Performance: One (1) base year and four (4) additional option years for renewal, for a total of five (5) years.

Work Schedule: The Pharmacy Technician will work approximately 30 hours per week.

Hours will be schedule during the week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 6:00am and 4:00pm in four (4) or six (6) hours shifts.

Place of Performance: FCC Terre Haute, Terre Haute, Indiana 47802

Qualifications: You must meet at least one of these qualifications.

•Completion of a pharmacy technician training program; or
•Actively participating in a pharmacy technician training program with at least six months of course credit established, and an internship satisfactorily completed; or
•Practical experience of at least two years in a pharmacy technician position; or
•Practical experience of at least two years in the health care field as a Physician Assistant or Registered Nurse, or LPN.

The Pharmacy Technician shall provide written proof of qualifications, such as copies of all diplomas and certifications.

Scope of Work:

The Pharmacy Technician shall provide professional Pharmacy Technician services to include, but not limited to: reading and interpreting prescription and medication orders written by medical staff; preparing/filling prescriptions for review by a Pharmacist prior to dispensing it; transcribing prescription data to labels; assisting in pill line operations; and communicating pertinent patient instructions when appropriate. The Pharmacy Technician will not fill or issue any DEA controlled substances. The Pharmacy Technician will assist the Pharmacist in ensuring the only medications dispensed are listed in the approved Bureau of Prisons formulary and will ensure requests for Non-Formulary medications are initiated and submitted to the Pharmacist for approval.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Completes release of information requests including retrieving patient’s medical chart and returning chart, scanning medical record accurately and correctly and transmitting daily, according to requests, established procedures, and established standards of quality and productivity.
Date stamps all requests and highlights pertinent data to facilitate processing.
Validates requests and authorizations for release of medical information according to established procedures.
Performs quality checks on all work to assure accuracy of the release, confidentiality, and proper invoicing.
Maintain equipment in excellent operating condition (inside and out) and troubleshoot equipment issues with assistance from the Help Desk department.
Provides excellent customer service by being attentive and respectful; insures understanding of customer request and follows-through as promised; and being proactive in identifying client concerns, or problems.
