2010 Census
For temporary jobs for the 2010 census apply on-line starting in November for clerks in Amarillo Area and January 2010 for field employees at www.2010censusjobs.gov or call the toll free number 1-866-861-2010. You should be willing to work 30 hours per week. Hours are flexible. You will be asked to qualify by taking a test once you have applied. Practice tests are available on the website or from your local recruiter wihin your counties. Testing starts November 16th for the Panhandle of Texas. Please call to schedule a test. Available positions are Census takers, Crew Leaders, Crew Leader Assistants, and Census Clerks. Minimum is about $8.75 for clerks and at $11.50 for field workers with mileage currently paid at $0.55 per mile. Limited positions are available at rates above this range, but this is the rate for listers. Crew Leaders or Field Operations Supervisors will be paid higher hourly rates. Expect workers to put in between 30 to 40 hours per week. Flexible hours unless you are scheduled in the offfice. Call to schedule an appointment to take the test and apply for a job at 866-861-2010. Jobs could last for several weeks to months. Official census date is April 10, 2010. We expect to be staffed with about 500 positions by January 2010 in Amarillo Area. RADCON INSPECTORS – SIXTEEN EACH
Must successfully complete initial Radiological Control Inspector training requirements. Must successfully complete all required facility-specific training and qualification requirements. Experience for entry into the SGL 18 position is: * 12 months with no previous related experience above SGL 16 entry requirements * 11 months with 1 year previous related experience above SGL 16 entry requirements * 10 months with 2 years previous related experience above SGL 16 entry requirements * 9 months with 3 years previous related experience above SGL 16 entry requirements * 8 months with 4 years previous related experience above SGL 16 entry requirements.

ENGINEERS (DESIGN AUTHORITY) – NINE EACH
An associates degree in a technical discipline and at least 8 - 10 years work experience or 10 - 12 years of practical work experience. Requires the thorough knowledge of advanced engineering principles and practices to develop appropriate design outputs. An in-depth knowledge of the conventional technology in the specialized field, computer applications, Industry Codes and Standards, design control, and Department of Energy requirements is required. Good organizational and communication skills are necessary. Requires the ability to use computers to prepare computer aided design drawings. Continued training is required for new technology developments in related fields. Knowledge of project cost/schedule controls is required.

Bachelor's degree in business / construction management / technical / engineering or a related area and at least 6-8 years of practical experience in cost or related areas. An Associate's degree and 10-12 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent. A high school diploma and 15-20 years of practical experience would also be considered equivalent.
A working knowledge of baseline management and funds management principles. A thorough knowledge and understanding of personal computers utilizing any of a number of generally accepted/available software applications to perform word processing, database management, spreadsheet, graphics and project control functions.
