After owning my 1989 Kawasaki Ninja 750 I have noticed that it is a very comfortable fun bike but just lacks the traits that would feed my addiction to doing incredibly stupid things.

I am looking for something that will easily pop up the front wheel for me to have fun.

I do not have much extra cash and will take a bike in almost any condition.

My bike runs very well and I used to to travel from Council Bluffs to Ames where I attend Iowa State University for Mechanical Engineering. It has proved to be reliable and leaks no fluid. Even has a horn that sounds like a dying cat (probably shouldnt ;)). The Bike could really use some paint to be the beauty I know it really wants to be. Few little minor cracks and a small scratch on the left side of the bike from me attempting a burnout. You can make fun of me if you would like but it was barely moving when it went down. I think someone could probably enjoy this bike much more than me and just have some fun in the sun cruising around town.

The bike currently has just below 23k miles but that number shouldnt climb since it is all stored away in my garage.

Metzeler Tourance 110/80/19 radial (Ames) $60

Tire has excellent tread remaining, approx 90%. No imperfections or problems. Wear is uniform. This model is frequently used on larger displacement dual sport/adventure bikes. This particular tire came on a wheel assembly I purchased and I ended up swapping over the current tires I was running. These are expensive tires, save some $$ and buy slightly used!

I have had the pleasure of owning this motorcycle for the last 6 years. In that time I have replaced or upgraded many parts for maintenance and performance. Another vehicle has taken its place and the GS has been sitting for the better part of the last year because of it. It's time for someone else to enjoy the Suzuki as much as I have.

Since owning it, I have replaced/upgraded:

Coils (DynoJet 3ohm green coils)
Dyna S Electronic ignition
Dyna spark plug wires
Vance & Hines 4-1 Megaphone Exhaust
New front and rear tires (Dunlop D404s, less than 500 miles on each)
Rebuilt front brake Master Cylinder

Acquired, cleaned, rebuilt factory carbs (didn't have factory carbs on it when I bought it)
K&N individual pod air filters (the ones with the more expensive chrome finish instead of black)
Pingel manual petcock

Brand new OEM rubber intake pipes (between carb and intake manifold)
Sealed, maintenance free Interstate battery (March 2008)

In addition to the parts I have replaced, I had the bike professionally jetted and tuned on a dyno in May 2008. I have the DynoJet printout. I also had a new front tire mounted, chain lubed and adjusted, etc. This visit to Fender's Cycle in Des Moines ran $622 and they got the jetting as close as can be. I still feel that it idles higher than it needs to. Because it has been mostly sitting for a couple of months, it seems like it needs a couple of tanks of gas run through it since the idle isn't perfect. I am very picky, though. The bike isn't perfect, and it has the original paint, except for the side covers which have been repainted and new GS750 badges applied. The tachometer is hazy. The bike has two different keys- one for the ignition, one for the seat lock. The front fender has a spot where the chrome has flaked off. Basically, it is not a new bike, and although it is in nice shape, has 30 years worth of wear. It currently has just under 33,000 miles.

I have a document in which I have have compiled most of the bigger purchases I have made for the bike, which totals ~$1750.

1985 Kawasaki GPz750 (Ninja) (Story City) $1050

1985 Kawasaki GPz750 (Ninja). I've had this bike for almost three years and it has been a reliable bike. It is in great shape for a 24 year old bike. Since purchasing it, I have put about $650 into it (new battery, carbs cleaned, etc). Oil was just changed. Tires have good tread, may be on the weathered side but shouldn't need to be changed for a while. Seat is in perfect condition, no holes or rips. There is a leak in the gas line or a gasket. 2000 RM 250 (Pella) $1700
