Field Director - Manager of Volunteers (Des Moines )

Youth For Understanding (www.yfu-usa.org) is a well-known international student exchange organization working with over 60 Partner Countries in providing high school students with the opportunity to experience life in another country while staying with a host family and attending school.

Currently, YFU USA is seeking a Field Director (Volunteer Manager) to continue working with current and prospective volunteers in developing the Greater Iowa field for international student placement and host family recruitment. Achievements include building volunteer involvement and oversight, recruitment for host families and student placement, nurturing school relations, and developing the field to incorporate additional student placements, focusing on the Greater Iowa area. The Field Director position provides the planning, marketing, administration, and volunteer oversight in an assigned geographic field to deliver a quality program. This position is office-based in the Des Moines District Office of Youth For Understanding USA.

Qualifications: Candidate should be self-motivated and directed and should possess exceptional interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, as well as having excellent networking, marketing, training, and volunteer management skills. International and intercultural experience preferred; marketing background highly desired. Previous experience working with, recruiting, training, and managing volunteers. Detailed; goal-oriented; and excellent organizational ability; a team player; an excellent listener, motivator, and problem-solver; ability to work effectively and productively under pressure and can work discreetly with sensitive issues. Ability to manage a fast-paced; demanding; and challenging position while meeting deadlines on time. Excellent computer skills are required. Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends when necessary. An undergraduate degree in international relations, education, organizational development, public relations, sales ~ or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. This position is available immediately.

Children & Families of Iowa (CFI) is a private, non-profit organization committed to helping at-risk children and families learn to help themselves. Our programs make an impact in our communities and a difference in the lives of thousands of Iowans every year.

CFI seeks a full time & part time In-Home Counselors to provide services to at-risk families in: Marshall, Tama, Poweshiek, Story & Jasper counties. Responsible for providing direct support services to children, individuals, & families. Duties include determining the need for and making necessary referrals to community resources & by providing input to the consideration of client goals, goal adjustment and termination of services in conjunction with co workers, supervisors, and referral sources.

This position has a non-traditional schedule, which may include weekend & evening hours.

Requirements
BA/BS in human services field w/ one year of experience.
