Cost Accountant (Traveling & Canton)

Position: Cost Accountant – Canton, MI


Position Summary:This position will have heavy travel over the first 18 month and then be based with minimal travel in Canton, MI

This position is responsible for ensuring the data in our new ERP (Microsoft Dynamics AX) is accurate and current based on proper transaction processing and monitoring. Over the first 18 months of this position the successful candidate will help with the North America implementation of this ERP throughout our headquarters and 5 additional manufacturing facilities. The position will then transition to be a Cost Accountant serving as our company wide Microsoft Dynamics AX Super User from our Canton, Michigan manufacturing facility.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Performs a Microsoft Dynamics AX sweep at mid-month and month end to ensure accuracy.
• Reviews post integration transaction, clears batch errors and works on shipped project issues on a daily basis within Microsoft Dynamics AX.
• Maintains a weekly trail balance review regarding the transaction accounts. Processes, prints, distributes and follows-up on projects to be completed and closed out on a weekly basis.
• Ensures system transaction accounts reconcile to applicable reports such as Margin Analysis, Project WIP, Stock Inventory, GRNYA, Customer Advance Payments, Warranty, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable.
• Balances sheet reconciliations.
• Prepares routine journal entries such as recurring entries, JVA/JVM entries along with entries directed by the controller.
• Ensures financial data in Microsoft Dynamics AX is current and accurate.
• Enters financial data into FDC in the absence of the Controller.
• Other duties as assigned by management.


Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• A minimum of 5 years in direct involvement in cost accounting preferable in a manufacturing or a project based environment.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office Software including; Word, Excel, and Access.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX project management system or SAP preferred.
• Ability to travel heavily for the first 18 months and then on a limited basis thereafter.

Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, review, analyze, and reconcile activity related to Order-to-Cash system.
