Test Engineer - Adaptive Materials, Inc. (Ann Arbor, MI)

We are looking for a Test Engineer to join our Manufacturing team as a key contributor in taking our proven technology to the commercial market. This position will report to the Manufacturing Engineering and Testing Team Lead. The position will primarily be responsible for the testing and validation process for fuel cells, stacks, and systems, as well as developing testing protocols and processes to lead the centralization of all existing testing activity into one overall area within Manufacturing.
Position Requirements and Functions
Perform hands-on testing, direct testing activities of technicians, guide project engineers on setting testing protocol based on product performance requirements. Develop testing protocol to reduce human involvement in routine testing, fault analysis, and troubleshooting.
Maintain, modify, and calibrate test equipment. Develop and implement a testing lab, which may include equipment purchasing, upgrades, and maintenance schedules.
Develop and implement a system to efficiently capture, analyze, and distribute test data on a timely basis that is useful to the AMI mission.
Recognize flaws and faults in items on test and troubleshoot and resolve problems in order to minimize loss of value in the test and testing material.
Deploy Labview throughout the entire facility, serving as a central resource for implementation, support, and software development.
Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Required Experience, Skills, and Traits
Experience and Skills
Bachelors degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
3-7 years of hands on, technical testing experience in a product manufacturing environment.
Proven success with developing and executing product testing protocols including method, data analysis and communications, and data management is a must.
Experience with managing projects using proven project management tools (Gantt charts, Microsoft Project, etc.) and involving engineers and technicians at all levels of expertise.
Experience with a variety of control systems (computer, microcontroller, hardware relay logic) and decision making on which system to use for various testing configurations.
Working knowledge with Diadem and Labview software.
Basic technical understanding of fuel gas, compressed air, and electrical systems.
Proven experience with the following:
o Electronic loads.
o Handheld and benchtop diagnostic equipment and limitations.
o Data acquisition devices and their respective communication standards and limitations.
o Data management automation, including e-mail integration and automated error handling based on multiple parameters.
o PLC deployment and automation.
o Manipulation of microprocessor code and management of serial, USB, GPIB, and Ethernet data sources/busses.
Desirable skills:
o Mil Spec 810F testing.

Job Summary
The Clean Energy Coalition, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Washtenaw County, Michigan, seeks a Building Technical Services (BTS) Project Manager to assist in the development and implementation of the organizations energy efficiency and renewable energy projects which serve a statewide target market. Current project areas include renewable energy project development, fee for service residential and commercial energy efficiency audits, municipal government energy consulting, and community energy program development and management.
