hit and run kitty on pontiac trail (between bowen & apple)

on my way home last night at about 10.30 the car in front of me hit a black and white kitty on pontiac trail. the car didn't stop so i got out to check on the cat. sadly, he was dead. i pulled him off the road and into the easement. he had no collar so i can't contact the owners but if you happen to stumble on this post please know that your cat died very quickly. he jumped out in a very dark part of the street and the car couldn't avoid him.
i am so sorry. he was a beautiful kitty.

Soundtrack needs bands (MI)

The makers of the film ‘Sleep Study’ are looking for local, unsigned bands to add to the soundtrack for their movie.

The film is about six patients who enter Dr. Roberts’ trial drug program ready for a quick buck, and for a good night’s sleep. When they awake they will be forced to fight not only for their lives but for their sanity.

The film is being shot in Michigan with an all Michigan cast and crew.

Wonderful German Shep Mix Needs a Re-Home (Ann Arbor Area)

Unfortunately, we need to find a new home for our dog Gabe. Our need to re-home Gabe has nothing to do with his demeanor or behavior. He is a wonderful dog, but our life circumstances have changed. He is 1yr 2-3 month old German Shepard mix. He is super smart, really sweet, leash trained, house trained, crate trained and an AMAZING Frisbee dog. He is still a little young, and a bit of a puppy still, but I know he will grow into a GREAT dog with the right home.

Why Chinese?
Since China has the fastest growing economy in the world, the Chinese language has become one of the fastest growing foreign languages (for more info, go to: http://www.askasia.org/chinese/news3.htm). Now in the U.S., we have SAT II Chinese, AP Chinese, HSK certification, etc.

Why must one start learning a second language at an early age?
Children hold a unique ability to master a second language. At about 7 months, a baby's brain starts long-term memory development. This is the beginning of what scientists and linguists call a child's critical period. From this stage until around age 12 or 13, when the brain begins losing its plasticity, children have their greatest potential to absorb and retain language skills.

Here are some facts about children’s language learning: An 18-month-old might say about 25 words. By the age of 24 months, this baby might say 300 words. At age of 3, she could use 900 words to conduct complex communication. When she is 12 years old, her reading vocabulary could be near 50,000 words!

So, it would be really sad if you, as a parent, were to let your child's prime time for learning a new language slip away!

Don't Cry For Me Wash Country Club (Ypsilanti)

Don't ask mercy for Washtenaw Country Club. They don't deserve it. They treat their hirees poorly. If you aren't going to give people work - don't mislead saying they have a job. Send someone home early occasionally? At least give them a meal. Especially poor, struggling college students. Manager and big shot cook, are lazy, smoke and drink too much, and aren't on the floor. They blame everyone else for their own incompetence. What goes around comes around. It's an unfortunate situation for cooks, waitstaff, grounds persons and hard working employees to suffer due to managements incompetence. Maybe someone will buy them out eventually and establish a good business organization that treats its employees right.

Hows it going fellow musicians? We are a three piece band consisting of drums and 2 guitars. We are all 20 and very good at our instruments. We do not have egos. We do not feel like this is our band. We are VERY dedicated and will never miss practices. We are looking for other members who are like us and share our dream of playing music. Our ultimate goal is to make it big, but it's NOT about the money. It's about playing in front of thousands of people and getting a huge rush for it. We are looking to form a band with strong influences on Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, and Seether. However, you must understand that while we are making radio friendly songs, we write whatever sounds good, not just radio edits. We have some heavy songs that run along the lines of Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for my Valentine, and Iron Maiden influences. You must be OK with that, that's all we ask. We are looking for people that are really open minded and aren't just looking to make radio friendly music to get famous. We truly feel like writing what comes to mind and taking it from there, but trust me, it does sound good and I am saying that without ego or bias.

What we need: A bassist and a singer. You should obviously be talented and willing to leave at the drop of a hat. This probably isn't for you if you have a wife and kids, however if you truly believe it won't get in the way, do respond. I have two kittens up for adoption. They are approx. 2 months of age. I have been fostering them since they were only days old as their mother and one of their litter mates was killed by a dog. Good family needs help with heat problems. (Tallman Lake)

We are a good family who has helped others whenever we could.
I am 41, terminally ill with cancer and my mom is disabled as well.
I have a modular home in Fountain , Michigan which uses propane to heat our home.
We have had our home inspected by Five Cap weatherization and they reccommend putting 3/4" Treated plywood around the bottom of our home where the skirting is to insulate, and cut down on heat loss which was tested to be ,"High Heat Loss".
Five cap does not have funding, and winter is upon us.
I am genuinely looking desperately for help with supplies to enclose the bottom of our home to prevent freeze up ,and reduce heat loss, as we are on fixed income.
What I would need is plywood to cover 80'x32' around the home, approximately 28 plywood sheets.
I can help install the plywood or get my neighbors to help us.
I have a good neighbor with a trailer who could help haul it too.
We live in the Manistee National Forrest and we will be doing all we can to survive this year.

Seeking volunteers ages 18-45 currently using birth control pills and volunteers that are not using birth control pills for a study on body weight and birth control pill use.

Sinjin and Yasmine here. We are trying to get to San Diego to meet up with beloved friends that have moved away. If we could get somewhere near they promised to pick us up. An old traveling buddy of ours ditched us last minute and we are desperately trying to get west for christmas. We travel with our pups, clyde and maverick. They have both hitchhiked over 1200 miles, spent at least a month and a half living in national forests with us and lived on a farm. They are really sweet loving dogs. Uncle Clyde is the oldest, he watches over maverick and all of us. It takes him a while to trust new people because of his past. Maverick is the sweetest little thing. She will love you and cuddle with you forever.
A little bit about us.. we are wwoffers (WWOOF=world wide opportunities on organic farms) Which means that we volunteer to work on organic farms, being paid with experience and food :) With that, we are pretty handy and enjoy all sorts of foods. We like a good conversation about history, science, current events, spirituality, how to, or really whatever comes to mind. We definitely have the will to have have fun but lack funds. If you want to take your time though, we are practically professional gas caners. (Which means sitting at truck stops and meeting new people, holding a sign that says "Anything Helps" or "Home ward bound" Its probably the best way to travel.

Parapsychology / Paranormal group to start! (Whitmore Lake)

I am hoping to start a group here in Whitmore Lake(about 13 minutes outside Ann Arbor) that will be focused on parapsychology and paranormal related subjects.

We will be doing exercises that are designed to increase psychic potential,having discussions about our own personal journeys,and will plan to have movie nights and other fun activities as well.

So far we have a handful of people interested.

I have plenty of room at my home,so I am hoping to get a fair amount of interest and be able to start the group in late November or early December.

Though I would like to have the meetings on either Friday or Saturday evenings because those are the evenings that work best for me to host them, we can discuss a day that works best for everyone.

I am open to suggestions.

On Saturday night Nov 14, My friends 16 year old cat ran outside when she let the dogs out. The cat usually comes right back in after about 15 minutes but she has still hasnt came back yet, So I am posting this for her.
She is a spayed 16 year old Female, Dilute Calico. Her name is Sydney.

Dog Training/Pet Sitting (Hamburg/Whitmore Lake Area)

I have two kennels outside for outdoor dogs and I have 2 dogs of my own and 2 cats. Dogs need to be good with other dogs for pet sitting. $10-$15 a day. Thanksgiving and Christmas specials available. Dog training is also $10 a day or $150 for 3 weeks of training. Dog obedience includes socialization, sit, down, stay, heel. Anything else just ask. We also train for search and rescue as a group and it is $25 a month and we meet 2 times a week. Lots of fun for you and your dog.
