WE NEED A CHEAP APARTMENT! HELP! (West Washtenaw Co. / North Lenawee Co.) $400

My husband and I are DESPERATELY looking for an apartment to live in. At the moment, we are living with my parents, but any adult couple who has ever lived with their parents, or even stayed with them for a long vacation, knows that it's only fun for a while! We moved in with them this past spring and we are very ready to find another place of our own. We were living in Ann Arbor, however my husband got laid off from his old job and we were without any income for a long time. We lost all of our credit, we had our second car repossessed, and we were asked to leave (NOT evicted from!) our apartment, so we had no other choice but to live with my family. Now that our finances are back to normal, we need to move out and soon! My parents live in a small home and we are constantly bumping elbows and sometimes, getting on each others last nerve.

We would like to stay as close to my husbands work as possible, and he works in Manchester. We could go as far south as Adrian, west as Brooklyn, east as Ann Arbor/Saline, and North as Chelsea. We would like an apartment, no house sharing. Studio is fine, 1 bedroom would be better, 2 bedrooms would be the best. We can pay utilities, but please! We need to keep the rent as close to $400 a month as possible! Also, if we could only pay a LOW deposit, that would be wonderful. We have a steady income now, but it's not a lavish one. It doesn't have to be a fancy place, but clean, safe, mostly quiet, and... we MUST be able to keep our basset hound! He is the sweetest, quietest, most clean dog I have ever seen in my life. He is like our canine child and we will never, ever part with him. He is UTD on his shots, he is registered, and he is neutered. He has never had and accident in the house, he doesn't chew, and he is very friendly. We would be willing to pay a reasonable pet deposit and/or an extra amount each month for him.

My current roommate and I are looking for a place to live for next year. Both of us are going to be seniors and would love to join a few other people in getting a house. We are both pretty laid back girls and prefer co-ed housing, but living with girls is also great. While we would love to live with our friends, we are looking to meet new people and introduce ourselves into a new group.

We did the whole apartment thing this year and now are looking to settle into a house. Our ideal place would have a porch to hang out on. Now, that might be getting too picky - but a porch would be awesome! One of us is an engineer so we would prefer to live close to a bus stop so she wouldn't have to walk too far to catch a ride up to North Campus.

I am a responsible 50 year old that is leaving a relationship (and house) and so will need a place to live by 1 January. I am self employed and do 75% of my work from my home office. I'm a grad student on leave at U of M.
