Mathematica Data Analysis and Visualization (Ann Arbor)

I am looking for somebody to help me analyze and visualize data for my dissertation. I have run a large number of simulations and collected a great deal of data. Too much data to manage myself within the time I have. I have the algorithms worked out in Mathematica and mostly what this job requires is simply going through the data files and running the algorithms on all the data files. Some tweaking of the algorithms will also be necessary due to variations in the data formatting from case to case.

Some experience with basic Mathematica syntax is required. If you're really good then you can probably improve my techniques and both make it easier for you and improve my research. I'm willing to pay $8-$20 an hour depending on your capabilities. I don't know how many hours of work there will be in total (perhaps 20-40hrs) and probably this is a one shot deal, but perhaps I will need similar work in the near future (e.g. redoing experiments or further analysis based on initial results). Some of my colleagues also need similar work so could easily turn into a cash cow for the right person. I'd like to get this done as quickly as possible (within the next couple of weeks) so you should have time available for this now (i.e. not after the term is over).

Ideally you'd have your own (rather powerful) computer and your own copy of Mathematica 7, but I can provide a computer and/or the program (for Windows) if necessary for the right person. Undergraduates are encouraged to apply. Telecommuting (by which I mean working on your own) is expected with meetings to look at the results and discuss next steps.

This 20-hour week position serves as the Safe Havens Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Project Lead, responsible for planning and implementation of all programmatic aspects of this project. This Project Coordinator facilitates the design and management of a local initiative, which initiates/monitors a supervised visitation and exchange services for parents and children in situations where dating, domestic, or stalking violence was present and promotes the safety and dignity of victims of domestic violence and holds batterers accountable for their criminal conduct.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Develop, implement, and launch with the assistance of the Safe Havens Task Force, a comprehensive program to provide supervised visitation and safe exchange services to Livingston County residents.
2.Research and draft policies and protocols for visitation and exchange services.
3.Prepare and administer adherence to contracts for services and commodities required by the project for performance of operational activities.
4.Monitor and analyze national and local trends and policy developments in the field and whenever possible identifying programmatic opportunities.
5.Coordinate referrals and services between the Livingston Family Center and the Court, including dissemination of information about services to the staff and legal communities and conducting pre-referral assessments for supervised visitation.

7.Prepare and edit all programmatic documents and reports; maintain confidential files, databases, and case documentation as required.

LICENSING or CERTIFICATIONS:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s Degree in relevant academic field with significant coursework in the following subjects is necessary and relevant: Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Women’s Studies, Pre Law/Legal/Criminal Justice, Political Science, or Public Policy.

Experience: Six to eight years of progressively more responsible experience in:
1. Overseeing/participating in a coordinated community response;
2. Knowledge of Court procedures relevant to divorce, separation, and/or custody issues;
3. Understanding of child and family dynamics relevant to divorce, separation, and/or custody issues;

University of Michigan Department of Biological Chemistry is seeking a Java developer to work under general supervision. In addition, the selected candidate would be required to do the following: Modifies moderately complex applications programs from detailed specifications. Codes, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains those programs. Competent to work on most phases of applications programming activities, but requires instruction and guidance in phases.

Note: This position does not perform systems analysis functions. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Employees are not involved in the operation, repair, or maintenance of computer hardware, networks, or equipment.

Job Requirements: 4-year degree required in the related field(information technology, computer science),2 year of experience at least in Java coding and programming. Familiarty with basic networking concepts. Linux/Unix experience and experience running or maintaining a server.
Experience working on or with open-source projects

We are looking for individuals with reliable transportation who are responsible workers and are able to do display assembly/reset service work at Home Depot stores.

Individuals will need to prove dependability. We have an immediate need starting at 8.50 / hr as an independent contractor.

Must be able to lift/push/pull 40-50 lbs frequently

Must have own basic tools such as cordless or regular screwdriver, hammer, box cutter, work gloves, etc. power drill may also be helpful
