Safe Havens Project Coordinator (County of Livingston, Howell, Michigan)
This 20-hour week position serves as the Safe Havens Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Project Lead, responsible for planning and implementation of all programmatic aspects of this project. This Project Coordinator facilitates the design and management of a local initiative, which initiates/monitors a supervised visitation and exchange services for parents and children in situations where dating, domestic, or stalking violence was present and promotes the safety and dignity of victims of domestic violence and holds batterers accountable for their criminal conduct.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Develop, implement, and launch with the assistance of the Safe Havens Task Force, a comprehensive program to provide supervised visitation and safe exchange services to Livingston County residents.
2.Research and draft policies and protocols for visitation and exchange services.
3.Prepare and administer adherence to contracts for services and commodities required by the project for performance of operational activities.
4.Monitor and analyze national and local trends and policy developments in the field and whenever possible identifying programmatic opportunities.
5.Coordinate referrals and services between the Livingston Family Center and the Court, including dissemination of information about services to the staff and legal communities and conducting pre-referral assessments for supervised visitation.
6.Develop and maintain relationships with local/state/national experts in the field, partners, government agencies and other key stakeholders through comprehensive facilitation of all Task Force activities, technical assistance opportunities, and community engagement endeavors.
7.Prepare and edit all programmatic documents and reports; maintain confidential files, databases, and case documentation as required.
8.Ensure that the programming reflects the needs of the community, adheres to the standards set forth in the “Guiding Principles of the Supervised Visitation Program,” and increases the capacity of professionals and organizations to provide services to victims, their children, and perpetrators.
9.Organize the local initiative’s participation in local, state, and national technical assistance and training programs or conference; represent the Court at select events and opportunities.
10.Builds and enhances the capacity and sustainability of the Safe Havens Project.
11.Develop and maintain relationships with local/state/national experts in the field, partners, government agencies and other key stakeholders
12.Coordinates referrals and services between the Livingston Family Center and the Court.
LICENSING or CERTIFICATIONS:
Clinical certification or licensure preferred (examples: LCMSW, CSW, MA LLP, etc.).
Valid Michigan Drivers License and a good driving record.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s Degree in relevant academic field with significant coursework in the following subjects is necessary and relevant: Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Women’s Studies, Pre Law/Legal/Criminal Justice, Political Science, or Public Policy.
Experience: Six to eight years of progressively more responsible experience in:
1. Overseeing/participating in a coordinated community response;
2. Knowledge of Court procedures relevant to divorce, separation, and/or custody issues;
3. Understanding of child and family dynamics relevant to divorce, separation, and/or custody issues;
4. Previous experience with development of advocacy, educational programming, or policy in domestic violence, child development, and/or related issues; and experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault,
5. Proven organizational and program development skills;
6. Ability to facilitate meetings with, and provide guidance to, executive-level professionals and government officials in a collaborative environment;
7. Excellent interpersonal, communication and critical thinking skills;
8. Ability to work effectively with a broad range of people including child welfare and domestic violence advocates, supervised visitation program staff, judges and other court personnel, other experts, and government officials.
9. Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to write for a variety of audiences.
10. Highly organized with the capacity to manage multiple tasks, and strong attention to detail.
11. Background in the collection, extrapolation and synthesis of data and statistical information.
12. Ability to maintain records, prepare reports and answer questions.
13. Must have ability to develop computer skills to manage implemented agency documentation systems. Examples include: SPSS, Access, DBMS.
