Attention Clonlara students: cover school credits by getting massage! (Plymouth)

Are you a Clonlara or home-schooling student/family? You can cover school credits just by scheduling a bodywork session at my office. You will learn about the muscles & physiology of YOUR HUMAN BODY how it creates movement and even how it developes stress, pain & disease, and you will be taking care of your own health at the same time! When you schedule an appointment, we will have you watch a health education video that is approximately 15-30mins long. Then I take an assessment of posture & movement to determine what structural issues might be developing due to a variety of physiological factors, which would help in developing a plan of action for the session and what methods we might use to help the body correct the imbalance!

http://www.neuromusculartherapist.com

Attention Home-schooling Moms: Do you have several home-schooled children? I will accept up to 3 students per 2 hour session., this will allow at least a half hour per student to receive posture assessment & bodywork along with watching the video. You will be involved during the whole appointment. It is BENEFICIAL for families to learn about the body together and learn self-care techniques. all bodywork sessions can be done dressed in t-shirt & shorts. (you bring them with you)

Each student will also keep learning during receiving the massage/bodywork. I call this Body Awareness Education. You become MORE AWARE of what your tissues are trying to tell you! Multiple sessions will slowly reveal new info about the human body, so there is always something new to learn!

Ann Arbor Test Prep | Ann Arbor Gmat Test Prep (Ann arbor)

Dynamic Teaching and Coaching for the GMAT, GRE, and SAT

In my decade of teaching, I have worked with GMAT and GRE students of all educational backgrounds and have helped them to maximize their scores through clear, precise and compassionate teaching combined with an exceptional content knowledge. Many of my students have previously used another form of test preparation and were not happy with the outcome, but after working with me, my students were thrilled at how easy and interesting math (yes even GMAT/GRE math) can be.

Private, Personalized Service

The GMAT and GRE exams tests many years of acquired math skills, in addition to logic and reasoning skills and far too often students are placed in a crowded classroom course that fails to deliver this knowledge in the time provided. I provide students with highly personalized teaching that is strategic to their needs. As a result, my students see greater improvement in their math abilities, confidence, and their scores.

Professional Teaching Experience

Too often many tutors have limited formal teaching experience and as a result are unskilled, ill-prepared, or unqualified for the challenging task of teaching adult professionals the math necessary for a good score. I have professionally taught students from grade school to graduate school and I realize the importance of clarity, organization, efficiency, and compassion while working with students.

Original Teaching Curriculum

Too often students are given inadequate practice materials and as a result, they struggle to acquire the practice that is necessary to internalize and understand the math material that is tested. I work with an original math curriculum that was created by high school math teachers, GMAT and GRE tutors, and college math professors. The questions afford my students the advantage of practicing with material that is realistic, skill-building, and that allows students to learn global skills that can be employed across a large facet of math questions.

I will look forward to speaking with you about how I can help you to reach your target score. Please respond to this ad with phone number and the best time to reach you, and I will promptly get back to you. Please also indicate the test you are studying for, and include a little bit about your goals. I am always interested in hearing about your unique background.

Please leave me the best number to reach you at and I will call you back right away.

Be well.

Ann Arbor Gmat Preparation (Ann arbor)

I have scored in the top percentiles of all test takers on the verbal and math sections of these tests, and have proven myself to be a successful teacher in assisting people in boosting their scores.

My typical students are those who have discovered most test prep books and commercial courses to be ineffective for their purposes, and who have decided to look for a highly skilled and exceptionally patient teacher for the GMAT, the GRE, and the SAT exams.

Most people incorrectly feel that these tests cannot be studied, but my typical student sees a large increase in his average score. I teach proven skills and techniques for excelling on these exams, which reduce and eliminate feelings of anxiety and fear that are the result of not having a complete understanding of the tests and what to study.

In the past several years I have taught hundreds of students how to divide the material into a range of strategies for getting a high score and it would be my sincere pleasure to be your instructor, too.

Please reply with the best phone number and time of day at which to reach you, and I will promptly get back to you. Defensive Pistol Marksmanship (Washtenaw Co.)

A CPL (CCW) enables one to legally carry a pistol. It (and the NRA class taken to qualify for it) do not enable most persons to use a handgun effectively.

I am a certified instructor and better than "Expert" marksman. I can usually improve the handgun marksmanship of most students by about 100% in one lesson.

You will likely save more money, in ammo costs (that you waste by repeating the same mistakes) than you will pay me.

Ann Arbor Gmat Practice | Gmat Review (Ann arbor)

I scored in the top percentiles of all test takers in the verbal portion of both tests, and have proven myself in assisting people in raising their verbal scores, too. Most of those who have sought me out as a tutor are those who have found most test prep books and commercial courses to be less than effective, and who have decided to look for a patient and skilled instructor for the verbal part of the GMAT, GRE and SAT tests.

Many people erroneously feel that the verbal part of these tests cannot be studied in a traditional way, but my average student succeeds in an increase of 100 points or more. I teach proven approaches to acing the verbal section of the GMAT, the GRE, and the SAT, which reduce feelings of anxiety and fear -usually the result of not having a complete understand of the exam and what to study.

In the past several years I have taught several hundred students to distill the material into different techniques and strategies for getting a high score and it would be my pleasure to be your tutor, too. Please reply with the best phone number and time of day at which to reach you, and I will promptly get back to you. Please also include a little bit about your background and which test you are studying for. I always enjoy learning about people’s unique situations. Thank you and I will look forward to hearing from you. You can leave me the best number to reach you at.

Piano/Organ Instructor Wanted (Ann Arbor)

I started a band with some friends about a year ago with the intention of playing keyboards. I dont read music and currently play and write by ear. In a year i've seen myself greatly improve, but I'm feeling like my my playing is reaching a point where I can not improve without a little training.

I'd like to find an instructor that can personalize lessons for the things I'd like to accomplish and learn. It would help to have a knowledge of classic and modern rock.

The band is called Sault Ste Marie, you can listen to songs at our website: ssmarie.com

For some students, writing is worse than any challenge on Fear Factor.
I help students get over their fears about writing essays.

If your teenager is already behind in their writing assignments and feels paralyzed, I understand that feeling. I can find ways to help them reconfigure how writing can work for them. .
Here are some clients who overcame their fears:

  • A young man who drew all the time couldn't imagine writing a research paper. I helped him plan and research 3-D computer animation.

  • A woman longed to return to college but had anxiety attacks about writing essays. We developed a system of anxiety relief by journaling then flipped the journal entries into a fine essay.

  • An analysis of how a musically adept student approached new work translated his system into a writing process as well.

Be well.

Safety training meetings, EMU campus area (Eastern Michigan Univeristy)

I represent a small group of people who would like to raise the safety and security knowledge level of individuals on and around the Eastern Michigan University campus. The campus and surrounding area are at times plagued by violent crime and armed robberies and we would like to gather together to help raise student and community awareness of safety and security issues.

We propose a neighborhood watch system that is informed on how to report suspicious criminal activity, we are also working on forming small [patrol groups that can act as the eyes and ears for the law enforcement community to help deter crime on and around the college campus.

Free training and tutoring will be available through our small group. There may also be some free martial arts and self defense training available for folks willing to be involved. We need to be a multi-cultural organization comprised of all ethnic backgrounds. This is a problem that we all face as a community and if you are willing to become active in trying to make a difference, then please respond to this Craigslist post.

I am a student at EMU, and every time there is a violent crime or armed robbery on or near the campus, it is very unsettling to me. I know there are others out there that feel as I do, and if we can gather together, we can make a difference.

We don't have to lie down and let the villians, dopers and crack heads run our surrounding area. There is a way to fight back and to organize a group that is in allegiance with the local law enforcement agencies.

Come help the streets and the EMU campus become a safer place for us all.

Respond today.

We CAN make a difference.

Guitar Lessons - Folk, rock, jazz & blues - 34 years experience (Ann Arbor)

They say 4 out of every 10 people have attempted to play the guitar at one time in their life. I was one of these 4 out of 10 people when I first picked up the instrument 34 years ago. I started out playing guitar in my high school's jazz band, and then formed a hard rock band with some fellow classmates. After high school I also played folk music, and I was involved with our church where I learned to relate music to Gospel music. I have also studied jazz music very extensively, and I have mastered my own signature style of electric blues guitar.

I have since studied with some of the finest guitar instructors in the United States. In the early 1980s, I studied with jazz guitarist Robert Conti. http://www.robertconti.com/ Conti has recorded many albums, and at one time recorded an album with jazz guitar virtuoso Joe Pass called "The Living Legends." Conti currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada where his private lessons now cost $600 for a two-hour block....

When I lived in Los Angeles, California I met and studied with Phil Upchurch, whose resume is a virtual Who's Who of music. http://www.philupchurch.com/newfram2.htm Phil has recorded and/or performed with George Benson, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Marvin Gaye and many others. When the student gets to the level where they can play accomplished chord melody arrangements, I have several of Mr. Upchurch's stylistic arrangements to hand down to the studying musician. His style is both harmonically rich and technically challenging to any level of guitarist.

Then for two full years (1987-1989) I sat at the feet of the late Ted Greene, perhaps one of the greatest jazz guitar instructors to have ever lived. http://www.tedgreene.com/ (Check out the "Ted Greene Videos" section... wow...) Ted was an awesome player, instructor and friend and then unexpected;y he passed away in July of 2005. Studying guitar with Ted has become the equivalent of studying the martial arts with Jeet Kune Do expert Bruce Lee. We the few that were honored with being able to study with Ted are now sought out as those who have first-hand experience with a grandmaster instructor. It is my greatest pleasure to share what Ted was able to bestow upon me in our private sessions over those years. Ted has now passed on but his legacy continues in us, his private students, and in his many books published and available on Amazon.com and others.

I have decided to accept a limited number of students in my home on the east side of Ann Arbor. If you have just started out on the guitar, I have no doubt that I can give you a very substantial foundation for a future lifetime of enjoyment playing the instrument. I am looking for beginning and intermediate students who are interested in practicing as requested in order to advance their playing abilities. Please allow for 1/2 hour a day practice time added to your personal daily schedule before contacting me for lessons. Any less and you will not be able to take command of the concepts of guitar I can relate to you. It has been my experience that most of my students will drop with the excuse "I do not have time to practice." If you are in college full time, consider these lessons to be the equivalent workload of a 4 credit hour college course. Consider the payment of your lesson fees as if you are paying for college tuition. The instructor will be here, and if you do not make it to these classes no matter the reason, they will go on without you with no re-scheduling just like in college, the professor does not re-schedule your lecture. I do not re-schedule lessons, and if you check, neither do music stores. So you need to make the lesson time slot a priority like taking a course in college.

The lesson time will (tentatively, subject to change) be split up into three sections.

1) There will be a lecture and demonstration time where the student will listen as I will play and demonstrate new techniques on the instrument. If necessary, a live recording can be made during the lesson and transferred to mp3 before the student leaves. It is recommended the student have a USB "thumb" drive available during each lesson for transfer of PDF lesson files, mp3s and other lesson-related material. A minimal size USB drive will suffice. I have hundreds of gigabytes of information already prepared for lessons, so a USB drive is necessary and mandatory. You will also need to have a basic to intermediate understanding of personal computer use. I use the Microsoft Windows format of computing, and I do not have any material available for the Apple/Macintosh brand of computing. Students owning Macs will be responsible for their own knowledge of Windows/Mac compatibility. I offer a wealth of instruction available on the PC, accept for PDFs and mp3s being cross-platform compatible, I do not spend time in lessons dealing with Mac computer issues. I am an expert on the Windows PC format, with a degree in computer networking pertaining to the Windows format.

2) Next there will be time allotted in each lesson for the student to try out new concepts on their own as I coach and teach them the "do's and don’ts" of playing the instrument. Be ready and willing to play your instrument each time you come for a lesson. I will ask the student to recite to me what they have learned over the last week's worth of 1/2 hour a day (minimum) practicing schedule. Generally, the first thing I ask the student each lesson is "so, what did you practice this week?" and we take the lesson from there. Individual hands-on practice time is mandatory for success in my lessons. The recital time in the lesson will be an evaluation period where I can coach the student if they are making mistakes in their playing, or I can recognize excellent improvements over the last week's efforts. Forward motivation is the key to success in musical instrument training.

3) Lastly, I will require that each student keep a simple log of their practice times. I have a spreadsheet prepared for this purpose. Plus, as discussed above, at the beginning of each private lesson, the student will be given a brief opportunity to recite the previous lesson material to the instructor. For the first 90 days the student will be required to keep a detailed log of daily practice times. After 90 days, if it is determined by the instructor that the student isn't practicing as required, the student may be dropped from my private lesson schedule in coming months. This is the equivalent of failing a college course. If you do not do your homework in college, you will fail. If you do not practice for my lessons, I will drop you as a student. My lessons are some of the best available in the Ann Arbor area, and the limited time slots are always in demand. I require a high banner for my students, but in return, I offer to them my hard work and dedication as a professional musician and instructor.

In this manner, each lesson revolves from the previous experience to the present accomplishment, to the future assigned practice regimen. I have an honest and sincere love for the guitar. I also have a very relaxed demeanor which helps cut through the nervousness some folks have when they first start out on the instrument. Though my demands are high, my love for music and passion for showing people of all walks of life how to play the instrument is even higher. Though I am strict with my attendance policies and my demand for student practicing, I am very generous with my time and availability to the student.

I ask that students pay for lessons in 1 month blocks in advance. My fees are competitive to the local music store rates. I've learned from experience that paying for lessons in advance is good for both the student and the instructor. From my perspective, it allows me to allocate a specific amount of time each month to my students. From your perspective as a student, this should encourage a motivation and desire to persevere when following a schedule that is agreed upon in advance. All my students will be over the age of 18 and should already have a good appreciation of a particular guitar-related popular music genre. It helps to have a 40-song song list in mind of songs you either know and would like to polish up on, or you do not know and would like to learn. I do not supply this list for you, it must come from your previous experience with music appreciation or your previous experience playing the instrument. The goal is to play as many songs as possible, start-to-finish, and not be what I might coin as a "guitar noodler" who plays only bits and pieces of several songs. I do not teach by tablature, and I do not recommend students learn to copy CD recordings "note-for-note." Instead, I strive to find the individual musician within each student so they are able to find their own original style in playing popular music. There is only one Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, Joe Pass, Muddy Waters, Albert Collins... but within yourself you can find your own place and signature sound on the instrument. To me, that is a much higher calling than simply being a clone of a previous already recorded performer.

Come to these lessons. You will not be disappointed.

Please also indicate which test you are studying for, as well as a little bit about your individual situation. I am always interested in learning more about people’s unique goals and backgrounds.

Please leave me the best number to contact you at and I will promptly return your call.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Blues guitar master offering guitar lessons !!! (Ann Arbor)

Hi folks. If you want to learn blues guitar you have come to the right ad on the Craigslist. I have been playing music professionally on the stage and in the recording studio for over 30 years and blues is my #1 "bag".

I have lived in the Mississippi Delta region at two different times in my life, and while there I wrote dozens of songs from the inspiration still pouring out of that area. I have also lived in the Greensboro, North Carolina region where the style of blues known as "Piedmont Blues" was originated. My personal style is closely related to a mixture of Delta, Piedmont, Texas, and Chicago Blues with an emphasis on using the electric guitar to make the authentic blues moans and tones.

Some of my favorite artists are Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Otis Rush, B.B. King, Walter Trout, Johnny Winter and just about any man, woman or child that has ever recorded any type of authentic roots blues sound.

I have extensively studied the traditions, folklore and history of the music and I take what I do on the instrument very seriously. I am able to transmit all of my emotions and feelings into the neck of the guitar and at the listener-side I have developed my own personal style of the blues as a mixture of all of the years of input I have accomplished on the instrument.

So dust off that guitar sitting in your closet and get on over here and let me show you how to make that baby sing. It is preferred (expected) that you have about 5 years experience playing the guitar to get the most out of these high-level lessons.

If you are interested, drop me a line here at the Craigslist, I'll reply by sending you my phone number here in Ann Arbor, and we can talk some more about the lessons. If you love the blues, I am your man. You might say I have a "tenth degree black belt" in the blues.... LOL! And I can back that up on the neck of the guitar... give me a shot!!

I have also interned at the Faldo Golf Institute at Marriott's Grande Vista Resort in Orlando, FL, and the Rick Smith Golf Academy at Treetops Resort in Gaylord, MI. I am looking to give golf lessons in my garage during the winter months. I provide everything, however I urge you to practice with your own clubs. I also have kids clubs of all sizes! $20/half hour.

Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction. Charlotte Perkins Gilman: It is told that Buddha, going out to look on

Be well.
