Performance Network Theatre is seeking two apprentices for their Theatre Apprentice Program. Hard-working college graduates or seniors with only online classes interested in launching a professional career at a nationally respected, professional Equity theatre are invited to apply. This comprehensive apprenticeship gives practical, real-world experience in arts management and production, important contacts in the professional theatre community and a significant resume credit.
The available positions will be held one year beginning in the summer of 2010. The program is designed for individuals who are interested in launching a career in Arts Management, Marketing, Fundraising and Development, Theatrical Design, Technical Direction or Stage Management.
This is a great opportunity for any recent graduate wishing to make an impression in the Michigan theatre scene. Apprentices spend a portion of their time as a production assistant, which earns points toward an Actors’ Equity card.

The Michigan League of Conservation Voters is seeking a talented and self-motivated Communications Manager to oversee its increasingly important electronic communications, as well as its publications and media relations. This is a part-time position.
Organizational Background:
Michigan League of Conservation Voters (LCV) is a dynamic non-profit, independent political organization working with its members and the state’s conservation and environmental community to make environmental protection a top priority with elected officials and the voting public. Michigan LCV helps elect candidates to public office who stand up for conservation principles, and holds elected officials accountable for their actions.
The affiliated Michigan LCV Education Fund shares staff and office space with Michigan LCV, and is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, non-partisan organization that builds the political muscle of the conservation community through technical support, training and coalition building. Michigan LCV Education Fund also supports programs to increase voting and citizen participation in Michigan’s democratic process. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Michigan League of Conservation Voters Communications Manager will oversee all aspects of the organization's publications, media relations, and communications. The Communication Manager will work with the executive director and program staff in developing communications strategies for each program, and will coordinate the development and application of organizational and campaign messages and materials, including print and web-based publications, fact sheets, e-action alerts, etc.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Developing and overseeing production of a monthly electronic newsletter;
- Improving and overseeing production of our quarterly newsletter;

Migrant Health Promotion, a national nonprofit agency dedicated to health education and advocacy for farmworkers, is hiring two Program Coordinators for its peer health education program with farmworker teens (Infórmate Teen Health). The program runs in two sites in Michigan: Manchester (20 minutes from Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County), and West Michigan. Each Coordinator will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive, fast-paced program, including recruiting, training, and supervising four farmworker teens as Teen Health Aides, interacting with the migrant farmworker community, working with primary health care providers, and conducting a multi-faceted program evaluation.
Preferred skills include: enthusiasm for working with teens and young adults, farmworkers, and primary health care providers, familiarity with HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, domestic violence, and related issues, training or Popular Education experience, program implementation experience, ability to work well independently, ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, commitment to empowerment, and bilingual (Spanish/English). A degree or background in health education, social work, and cross-cultural work is ideal. The salary range is $13,000-$15,000.
Work takes place at each respective site. These are full-time, seasonal (temporary) positions. Program Coordinators will begin in May and work until the end of August, 2010, with the potential to continue through October, 2010, as funding becomes available. Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing ongoing day to day collection of clothing and household items as well as storing such items at the donation center. This position also maintains positive relationships with donors, providing them with a tax receipt for donations received.

• Collect clothing and/or household goods from donors at the donation center, on routes, clothing drives and donation bins while issuing tax receipt to donors for their goods or sorry cards for items not accepted
• Operate and maintain an Easter Seals vehicle safely and efficiently completing all needed forms daily
• Properly load/unload route trucks, trailers and carts while weighing and documenting the weight of each load, stack, store and rotate storage items within the donation center while maintaining the cleanliness of the donation center
• Properly use tie down straps, loading ramp and hand cart while moving and securing large loads
• Record address number of donations by collecting post cards as well as noting other addresses as needed on the back side of route map sheet
• Put out signs as well as prepare and distribute marketing materials to advertise the donation center (flyers, signage, balloons, etc)

The Ecology Center is a Michigan-based environmental organization that works for a safe and healthy environment where people live, work, and play. Founded in 1970, the Ecology Center has approximately 18 staff persons. In recent years, the Ecology Center has led successful campaigns to close down Michigan's medical waste incinerators, improve the environmental performance of the auto industry, and save thousands of acres of working farms and valuable natural areas. We have also launched the highly successful HealthyStuff.org consumer websites and databases, using our strong expertise in toxics and chemical policy reform. Ecology Center leads the statewide coalition, Michigan Network for Children’s Environmental Health.
Our staff are advocates who translate cutting edge environmental science into calls for changes in policy and in the marketplace. We work in an informal, team atmosphere, where individual initiative is expected and respected. The Ecology Center is the parent organization of Recycle Ann Arbor, also a nonprofit organization, which operates the premier recycling program in the state of Michigan as well as the newly launch Energy Works.
Job Responsibilities
The Environmental Health Organizer will:
1) Design and implement the grassroots components of key environmental health state policy campaigns within the Ecology Center and Michigan Network for Children’s Environmental Health, such as building and maintaining a core of volunteer activists, engaging key media contacts, leading Home Safe Home Party project, conducting town hall meetings, and organizing supporters state-wide. Campaigns include protecting children from toxics in toys, growing Michigan’s green economy by advancing Green Chemistry, and restricting the use of dangerous flame retardants and pesticides.
2) Lead our online activist engagement strategies for our environmental health and toxics agenda.
3) Assist with the implementation of the Ecology Center’s strategy for influencing the federal and national debate on toxic chemical policy.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position has enthusiasm for and interest in stopping toxic chemical threats to children, reforming our chemical policy system, promoting safer alternatives/green chemistry, and protecting/enhancing our collective public and environmental health.
The ideal candidate has experience in community development and organizing; strong writing, communication, computer, and leadership skills; relevant academic background in environmental policy, organizing, public health, public policy or related areas; and demonstrated success in non-profit campaign management and leadership. The ideal candidate has experience in online advocacy.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with relevant professional experience. The Ecology Center offers very generous benefits, including medical, dental and retirement.

Full time position available conducting interviews with children where sexual abuse is suspected, using techniques in accordance with Michigan Forensic Interviewing Protocol. Other responsibilities include regular case reviews, follow-up and referrals, coordination of team meetings, and reporting. Master’s degree plus 2 years experience (preferred), or bachelor’s degree with 5 years experience. Function of the Job:
Responsible for the development and oversight of all FBCA2 ministries to junior high and high school aged youth with the goal of nurturing Christian faith. Facilitates and executes long-term visioning for FBCA2’s youth ministry. Teaches and leads from a strong biblical and theological basis. The work includes active ministry with FBCA2 youth and outreach to youth of the community not necessarily affiliated with FBCA2.
Qualifications:
A passion and enthusiasm for youth, experience in leading youth ministry, administrative skills, and a healthy personal spiritual life. Must be a self-motivated leader who can work well with teams, including church staff, volunteers, and youth. Must be supportive of American Baptist Churches USA tradition and of a theology congruent with the pastoral ministries and vision of FBCA2. M.Div. preferred.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
* Organize and lead effective youth programs, implementing ministries of fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and mission. Nurture and promote growth in youth ministry in meaningful ways, spiritually and numerically.
* Provide spiritual counsel and guidance to youth.
* Communicate regularly with youth and parents of youth as well as with church staff and other church leaders.
* Collaborate with the Youth Advisory Committee comprised of youth, parents of youth, staff and/or church leaders, which assists in planning, implementing, and assessing youth ministries.
* Develop and manage the youth ministry budget(s), including student fees for events, youth fundraisers, etc.
* Integrate youth ministry into larger ministry philosophy of the church in ways that promote intergenerational dialogue, understanding, and collaboration. Encourage church membership and ministry involvement of youth.
* Develop relationships with youth and their parents through presence at school and community activities involving youth.
* Regularly attend worship and periodically participate in worship leadership– both in youth-only worship events and in whole church worship – to facilitate the corporate spiritual life of youth.
* Report to Director of Christian Education. Participate in annual performance review.
* Attend staff meetings. Work closely with other staff and the Board of Christian Education. Present annual ministry goals and assessments of program.
* Stay current with youth ministry research and practices.
