South College –Asheville, a small proprietary college offering associate and bachelor degrees in allied health, criminal justice, and legal fields, is currently hiring a Sociology Adjunct Instructor to teach once course in the Winter Quarter (January 13 – March 25) with the possibility of further employment upon satisfactory performance.
South College –Asheville class enrollments average fewer than ten students. A sample syllabus, textbook, instructional technology (LCD projector, pc, DVD/VCR, etc.), and copying facilities will be provided.
The course in question, Introduction to Sociology, is scheduled for Tuesday/Thursday 10:30-12:20. In addition to time spent in the classroom, instructors are expected to be available for student conferences and to attend to any administrative duties related to their courses such as lesson planning and grading.
A qualified candidate must have a Master of Arts or Science degree in Sociology, Social Work, or closely related field. Candidates should have prior post-secondary teaching experience. Experience at a community college or vocational school is much preferred.
