Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have experience in some of the following:

• 2+ years experience
• Contributions to open source projects a plus
• Experience writing CMS front end code, browser based user interfaces
• Java (will consider object oriented programmers who would like to do Java Web Application programming)
• JavaScript
• XHTML
• CSS
• AJAX
• Object-oriented design
• Object/Relational Mapping
• SQL and Relational database experience (and other database technologies like Hadoop, Big Table, Tokyo Cabinet, etc).
• Prior experience with large scale solutions (and their development).

System administrator (Asheville, NC)

Under limited supervision, performs system administration & planning for all aspects of IT-infrastructure - to include desktop/laptop PC’s, servers, network equipment, and software applications. Brings in reliable, durable, and cost-effective solutions for all IT related needs.

Relationships:

Works under the direction of the Network Architect; this position requires excellent customer service and organizational skills to support administrative personnel, department supervisors, staff, and customers. This position requires the ability to function successfully in both team and independent work environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform a wide range of system administration duties on servers including installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support.
Evaluate, test, and deploy all software and hardware upgrades to the server infrastructure.
Proactive monitoring of all servers, applications, and services using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA’s.
Perform regular and on-demand system backups and recoveries.
Assist in developing, implementing, testing and maintaining server level disaster recovery plans.
Collect and review system data for capacity and planning purposes.
Interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance of all IT infrastructures.
Manage & troubleshoot networks, intranet & Internet connectivity throughout the organization
Work closely with the MIS team to provide end-user support and issue resolution.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging server tools and technologies.
Research, evaluate and recommend system technologies to support business requirements.
Rigorously create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures.
Lead, train, and support the work of other staff engaged in similar functions
Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings
Coordinate with the rest of the MIS team to meet the team objectives
Provides emergency on-call support on a rotating basis.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related work experience (relevant experience - field preferred - and education may be considered in lieu of a degree).
Minimum 2-3 years experience in Systems Administration
; At least 2-3 years experience with Hardware & networking
Advanced knowledge of installation, upgrading, and troubleshooting of Linux servers. Experience with Windows servers desirable.
Knowledge of MySQL server administration and troubleshooting highly desirable.
Working knowledge of web application security, understanding of vulnerabilities and countermeasures.
Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently.
Willingness and ability to learn new skills and apply them as needed.
Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization.
Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information.

I am an MBA student in the Asheville area who is putting together a business plan for investors. I am familiar with some web design and SEO but, I need an expert I can rely on to help me with market research and web design purchases.
