JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for developing and carrying out inspection programs for the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) machine using established software and programming techniques. Operates CMM machine per standard operating procedures and approved practices. MUST BE ABLE TO PROGRAM USING CALYPSO, GEAR PRO DESIRED.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Develops and executes programs for the CMM Machine to precisely measure production parts during various stages of production. Uses blueprint specifications and customer requirements to establish critical points of measurement.
2.Inspects critical parts using CMM machine and all fixtures and gages associated with it.
3.Operates CMM machine per standard operating procedures and approved practices.
4.Performs visual and mechanical inspection of various large scale components to insure final product conformance to the process requirements.
5.Interprets machine data and understands the data well enough to be able to present any tolerancing or dimensioning issues to management and/or customers.
6.Aids in reviewing programming for CMM machine to accommodate all new parts that have critical dimension and requirements.
7.Verifies equipment is accurately set-up, calibrated, and fully operational prior to use.
8.Analyze and troubleshoot machine set-up s and inspection paths.
9.Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
An ideal candidate for this position has basic math skills with the ability to perform various mathematical calculations, excellent knowledge of hand held measuring tools, and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings in a manufacturing environment. Must have experience in developing automated inspection programs, using accepted programming languages, operating systems or the equivalent. Must have experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and knowledge of surface-plate inspection techniques, measuring tools, and gages. Candidate must be able to follow directions well and understand various written and verbal instructions, memos, and standard operating procedures. Candidate needs a working understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T). Requires excellent good communication skills and the ability to adapt to a changing environment. An ideal candidate is a self starter with the ability to perform daily tasks with minimal direct supervision, a strong sense of responsibility to the job with respect to attendance and good judgment to know when to ask questions. Must also understand that working safely, following company guidelines and policies on safety, are a requirement for the job. May need to lift 50 pounds on occasion.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
An ideal candidate will have an associates’ degree or greater in engineering or programming and five years or more experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the metal removal manufacturing environment or the equivalent on-the-job experience. Must have previous quality inspection, CMM machine work experience and programming experience, preferably in excess of 8 years. A good attendance record, performance record, and ability to work well with others are necessary. Must be able to use a forklift and to be certified.
