Dog Sitting Opportunity (Your Home)

I need for someone to help take care of my dogs at your place of residence. I have a bassett hound and a very small beagle mix. Both very kind, tame non-biting dogs that do not bark very much inside at all...outside they tend to bark at anything but i would like them indoors 99% please. If you would like to earn some extra money for the holidays this might be a good opportunity for you to do so. Lab/Husky mix male (weaverville)

I have a white lab/husky mix and he goes by the name of Toby. He is FREE to a good home. He does well with children ages 6 and up, and he also does good with other dogs. He comes with a 10x10 outdoor chain length fence. Unfortunatley I have not had the money to get him fixed or updated on his shots. She is now thriving in her foster home, where she has developed a new-found love with other foster dogs and cats. Cookie has not had any accidents in the house. She sleeps in a crate at night, and when her foster family leaves the house. Cookie LOVES car rides and will lay down in the backseat of the car and wait patiently until she arrives at the destination. She also LOVES going for walks but needs more training so she will not pull on the lead. Cookie LOVES everything and everyone and still has a TON of puppy in her. She will need further training so that she will not jump up but she is smart and learns quickly. It is advisable that she does not go to a home with small children because she may jump on them. I am currently fostering Daisy for the North Mecklenberg Animal Rescue.  She is a large mixed breed dog (vet guesses black lab and boxer..??) with a shiny coat and a wonderful loving heart.  Although I would love to adopt Daisy myself, my own work/travel issues would make that difficult (although I would love to possibly provide free pet sitting or some doggie daycare for her when she finds her permanent home!).  





Daisy came to my home a few months ago and was so easy to take in…she is fully housebroken, doesn’t chew or destroy things at all, sheds very little, and is so sweet and cuddly (I think she believes she is a lap dog!).  Her only “issue” is that she does not like to be crated or locked up in a room by herself, although that has not been much of an issue at my house, because she is so problem-free that I just let her roam freely in the house.  I have left her alone for relatively long stints without one single problem or anything being messed up or destroyed…no accidents, no difficulties.    





Daisy was great from the beginning, although a little nervous at times; however, since being here, I have watched her calm and blossom into an even better dog.  She was a little skittish at first, but is now eager to meet new people and just an all around happy and loving dog.  A little love and attention was all that was needed to turn her into an ideal companion.  If you are looking to adopt a larger breed dog, I do not think you could possibly do better than Daisy!





I think the ideal situation for Daisy would be an active home where she gets the opportunity to walk a lot, run if possible....or any other active situations …she has a lot of energy and loves to get it out.  I have had her around young children with no problems.  A fenced yard or farm in the country would be awesome (although she probably would not like to just be put outside alone all the time…she’s a companion dog that wants to be with people).  She would make a great “working” companion.   





NOTES:  Daisy is up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on preventative medicine to.  She has been spayed (twice actually…long story…poor Daisy!). Daisy is full grown at approximately 2-3 years of age, and weighs about 60-70 pounds. She is in excellent shape…and has a beautiful shiny coat with very short hair and little shedding.

I can't find many helpful reviews online, so that's why I'm doing this. Comparison shopping isn't helping much either lol. These doggie daycares are super expensive in my opinion, so unless they don't treat the dogs right, then I'm truly looking for the one with the lowest prices. 





Also, don't bother telling me about Happy Tails if it fits into either category above. I am not going to travel that far for a dog daycare. If you choose Happy Tails but know of another K9 Daycare that you would use as a backup, then please let me know.

Torti sisters in need of a good home. Small, 2 years old, fixed, had shots, beautiful colors, travel well, litter/house trained and strictly indoors as long as we've had them. We've since had two children and didnt see the cats as often as before, but now that we have family staying with us the cats do not come out of the room at all unless forced to. Family has brought a mild-mannered dog and cat into the home and my cats aren't taking introduction well. We're all so busy that we don't feel we aren't associating them well enough and theyve begun to use our bed as the pottystation (because they wont leave the room unless forced). We need to rehome them quickly or we'll have to take them to a reputable no-kill shelter. 





I believe they would do best in a home with small pets and older children (theyve done well with rabbits and mice, even chased the mice playfully around the house, no biting or claws just chasing), or maybe with someone better able to associate them to other cats.

Snoopy Girl is an older female Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix, she has long fur, she is mostly black with white chest and legs and some tan/brown. She has a small bit of distinctice white fur between her shoulders and white on the tip of her tail. She has floppy ears. She weighed 80 pounds but may be much thinner now. She is about knee high. Matilda's tail is always moving. I think that's because she's so gratetful for being promoted to housedog. Matilda's history is a mystery, but we think she must have been a breeder, probably left in a cage. She's well-socialized and loves people, but she doesn't have many indoor doggie skills. We're working on the house-training, but I believe she will succeed because she is eager to please. This little girl is very affectionate. She loves people kisses and doggie play time. She has loads of energy and can keep up with the youngest pup. Her semi-toothless smile is evidence of some past neglect of her needs. She had a number of teeth removed, so she has a unique, adorable hollow sound to her sniffing and sneezing. Matilda loves snuggles, kisses, responds to praise, seems eager to make her "person" happy. This little girl will make a great companion to a child or even an older person. She takes her job as an alert dog seriously. She always lets me know when someone's in the driveway or at the door.

Hello fellow kitty cat lovers.  I am forced to give up my dilute calico persian cat.  She is 5 1/2 years old her birthday is February 21, 2004.  Due to the economy, and just other unexpected aspects of life we can no longer keep her.  She needs more attention and someone to lovingly brush out her hair.  She is a retired show girl and is used to being pampered and petted.  She is still current on her rabies and all other vaccines, she has been spayed and her previous owner had her declawed, but her claws have grown back and require trimming from time to time as she was a kitten when it was done and she didn't learn exactly how to retract them when needed.  She is not a fighter, and lacks any of the normal "hunting" need that most other cats have.  She is an indoor cat, but loves to go outside and lie in the sun on the porch (hopefully you have a screened in porch) If not if you have like a chained link fence or something to that effect she will absolutely stay inside the fence.  She has no desire to roam about, nor do I think she would be able to defend herself against an attack by a dog or other predator so you would have to be very careful letting her outside. (she can't even climb trees) Also she has no idea about roads because she's never been around so she's not road smart either. Anyway if you've always just wanted a pretty persian cat then give me a call. She is mostly diluted gray with some diluted orange and white and she has big copper eyes.  She is of the extreme flat faced variety, is registered with CFA.  She comes from a well known cattery and comes from a top of the line breeding line. She originally cost over one thousand dollars (I didn't pay that for her) but her original owner did. So what I'm getting at is she is an expensive cat and I am all but giving her away, so here is someones great chance to obtain a very nice kitty.  There is a rehoming fee to ensure that she goes to someone able and willing to provide her with care, veterinary or otherwise.  It is not a huge fee though (less than $100.00) I don't think that craigslist allows you to put the amount so if you will email me with your phone number and such and give me a description of what kind of home you will provide for her I will first email you back with my phone number and the fee amount and then you can decide if you want to call me.  I will then make a decision about whether or not she goes to live with you based on what you tell me when we speak on the phone. I have a one year old male beagle who's name is Trooper.  He was purchased last year around Christmas time for my 9yr old son as a rabbit/hunting/companion dog.  He has since been loved and cared for by all of us.  I have other farm type animals whom he likes to "hunt" he has since killed a couple of chickens and likes to hunt the goats. This is what his breed does, so he's not a bad dog.  He really is good with kids and loves to stay right with them playing. But sadly, we can no longer keep him.  I don't like to keep dogs or any animals totally confined in cages or pens or anything and it's not fair to him to have to be kept constantly in a dog pen. He is almost exactly one year old, has AKC papers, and is really great with kids, adults and most other dogs.  He IS NOT good with goats, chickens or other small livestock.  I really would love to find him a home where he can be an only pet, preferrably the pet of a child.  He wags his little tail gleefully at the mere sight of a child willing to play with him.  He has been taken hunting a couple of times and showed promise, he comes from a long line of champion rabbit hunting, and field trial winning beagles.  He is un altered and we had planned to stud him to a lemon beagle across the road, as he has lemon in his bloodline.  I would not recommend keeping him inside as he has not been house trained because he's been outside, but hey if you're good at this and think you can do it then go for it.  I am asking a small rehoming fee so that something else can be purchased for my son as this dog was his main christmas present last year. I don't know if craigslist allows you to post the fee, but it will be twenty five dollars less than one hundred.   This fee can become negotiable for an exceptional home with a child wanting a companion dog.  Please email me with your phone number, and some information about what kind of home you can provide.  This dog is in excellent shape, up to date on shots, and will be wormed today just to be sure before you take him home. Please let us tell you about a very special dog named Hope.  Yes, that name gets used a lot, over-used in fact.  But once you hear her story, we think you’ll agree that it suits her.





Based on information from her original rescue operation, as well as the story that her little body told, her history goes something like this…





Hope was born unwanted, and was cared for as such.  In other words, she wasn’t.  Her body was stunted and her front legs were bowed from lack of nutrition.  Her coat was in horrible shape.  Although she should have been a much larger dog, she was a petite 36 pound girl when she came to us at 8 or 9 months of age.  She had a few puncture wounds where she must have been left with other dogs that did not want her around, or who saw her as a threat for their small amount of food.  The tips of her ears were snipped into little shreds, confirmed by the vet to have been done with scissors.  No, they weren’t done to make her look like a “big, tough, dog” (not that that would have been OK either), it looks like they were done just because some sociopath felt like doing it.   Eventually somebody just didn’t want Hope around anymore and they abandoned her.  Not just off in a field to run free mind you….no, they dropped her in a water-filled rock quarry to drown.  A quarry that, in some places, has 50 foot drops into water so deep that it is black.  A quarry that, in many areas, has no ledges or hand holds for a HUMAN to climb back out, much less a terrified puppy.  Judging by her torn feet, and  the actual HOLES in her toes where her toenails used to be, Hope fought like crazy to drag herself out of that water, but wasn’t successful in her first attempts.  Thank goodness she eventually made it onto a tiny, narrow ledge, where she sat for days, until the firefighters arrived to rescue her.  Emaciated, cold and terrified, Hope was unresponsive, and apparently, had given up on ever finding a kind human.  She was in a catatonic state.  Hope was placed in a temporary situation in a boarding kennel, while a local group looked for a rescue who had the time to give her the interaction she needed in order to give this world another shot.





And so, Hope found her way to North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue.  She was placed in a foster home with a very welcoming, loving and healing Pack of rescued pets…and the magic began.





Hope has undergone an amazing transformation in a very short period of time.  At almost 14 months of age, Hope has blossomed into a strong, solid, 50 pound whirlwind whose feet are still too big for her body.  Yes, she is done growing, but I think God intended for her to be a bigger girl, had she been raised with love and nutrition.  Hope doesn’t seem to mind though, and smiles when her Foster Mom calls her “My Little Fred Flintstone Feet” and rubs her toes.  





Hope has become a happy, busy, energetic and nosey little girl.  She now follows the “I Have Never Met A Stranger” philosophy and applies it to all of the species she has met thus far.  She spends time in her crate very willingly, resting quietly even when the rest of the household is free to move about with the humans.  With some reminders, and a knowledgeable handler, Hope walks quietly on a leash, and has quickly picked up a few obedience commands.  She is potty-trained and spends the night sleeping with the rest on her Pack, piled in a bed.  When the humans are not around, Hope spends her time in her crate or in the fenced in yard with her Foster Brothers.  People that know her cannot believe how far she has come…to new people she appears to be as well adjusted as any other puppy who had a happy and healthy start in life.  She enjoys riding in the car, and visiting with anyone who will pay her attention.  Children make her Woo-Woo with pleasure (Hope doesn’t actually bark so much as talk).  She is athletic and smart, and seeks out people to play with her or teach her new things.  





Although Hope loves to play with other dogs and lives peacefully with cats, her case is a little special.  You see, as was already mentioned, Hope is a whirlwind and her social skills have been greatly influenced by her time with a group of very tolerant animals.  The cats and dogs that comprise her Foster Family are some of the most indulgent creatures ever to walk the planet.  Hope’s role as a weak puppy set the stage for her relationship with the rest of The Pack and that has carried over as Hope has become an adolescent.  She gets away with MURDER from the cats and the dogs alike.  Hope likes to wrestle---with dogs or cats---for hours on end.  Although she never means to hurt anybody, she gets very rough.  Thankfully, her Foster Family is a bunch of roughnecks too, so that works out well, but realistically speaking, not just any dog (or cat) wants to be chewed on all day long.  Hope also seems to have trouble “speaking Dog” and does not seem to notice or care when a warning growl is issued or a yelp is given when play is too rough.  She must see herself as very entitled, as she has no concern about taking a bone from a sibling’s mouth, despite the loud growls sent her way.  We would love to see Hope in a family with playmates, and feel like she would do great with most pets.  Exceptions would be those that are dominant, reactive, or card-carrying Couch Potatoes.  We’re pretty sure Hope would (understandably) get on their nerves.  Don’t get us wrong, Hope loves to crash on the couch during Primetime TV and take midday naps with her humans….she is not constantly on the go…but it takes some good wrestling sessions throughout the day to get her to the point where napping is on her agenda.





Hope has been spayed, micro chipped, and is UTD on all of her vaccines.  Surprisingly, upon her removal from the quarry, she tested positive for heartworms, which is very uncommon in such a young dog.  Due to her young age and very light positive status, our vet has chosen to treat her with monthly doses of Heartguard brand heartworm preventative, and the vets expect her to test negative in just a matter of months.

Lucy is a surrender from a small breeder. She arrived into the care of loving AADR volunteers scared, confused, and covered with fleas. When she arrived at her temporary foster home her first stop was the tub for a warm bath. She was a real trooper and let this strange lady soap her up and dry her down. She quickly relaxed after her bath and a big bowl of kibble. 





Lucy has the nicest personality. She is not at all demanding. She is content to snuggle beneath the covers or in a warm lap. She gets along with everyone in the home and hasn’t been interested at all in the cat. She prefers the house over the yard and seems to chill easily (especially in the rain). She’s coming along with her housetraining. I can’t identify a single annoying behavior. She is eager to please and simply wants human companionship. I have not observed her with children, but has not displayed any aggression and should be fine if supervised.





Lucy is a special, beautiful girl. Her coat is rich mahogany sprinkled with black. Please consider making this beauty part of your pack.

She is fixed, up to date on all shots, she has been around my 2yr old daughter and my 8yr old australian shephard Lexy.. they are the best of pals, she is currently my bed buddy and sleeps as well as cuddles with me every night.. She has never bitten, I've never heard her even bark or growl.. she plays fetch and is truly the greatest dog.. From Daisy’s Foster Mom:


I am currently fostering Daisy for the North Mecklenberg Animal Rescue. She is a large mixed breed dog with a shiny coat and a wonderful loving heart. Although I would love to adopt Daisy myself, my own work/travel issues would make that difficult (although I would love to possibly provide free pet sitting or some doggie daycare for her when she finds her permanent home!). 


Daisy came to my home a few months ago and was so easy to take in…she is fully housebroken, doesn’t chew or destroy things at all, sheds very little, and is so sweet and cuddly (I think she believes she is a lap dog!). Her only “issue” is that she does not like to be crated or locked up in a room by herself, although that has not been much of an issue at my house, because she is so problem free that I just let her roam freely in the house. I have left her alone for relatively long stints without one single problem or anything being messed up or destroyed, no accidents, no difficulties. 


Daisy was great from the beginning, although a little nervous at times; however, since being here, I have watched her calm and blossom into an even better dog. She was once a little skiddish, but is now eager to meet new people and just an all around “happy” dog. A little love and attention was all that was needed to turn her into an ideal dog. If you are looking to adopt a larger breed dog, I do not think you could possibly do better than Daisy!


I think the ideal situation for Daisy would be an active home where she gets the opportunity to walk a lot , run if possible....or any other active situations …she has a lot of energy and loves to get it out. I have had her around young children with no problems (although several roudy young children at once might get her a little jumpy…so the temperament of the children should be a consideration). A fenced yard or lots of walks would be great, (although she probably would not like to just be put outside alone…she’s a companion dog that wants to be with people). NOTES: Daisy is up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on preventative medicine so she stays that way. She has been spayed (twice actually…long story…poor Daisy!). Daisy is full grown at approximately 2-3 years of age, and weighs about 60-70 pounds. She is in excellent shape. and has a beautiful shiny coat with very short hair and little shedding.





Daisy does fine with other dogs as long as they are nice. She has been around multiple other dogs throughout her stay at NMAR and has done well. If you are interested in adopting Daisy, please fill out an application at www.northmecklenburganimalrescue.org

Emma and Ella were from an accidental litter from 2 small breed mix dogs. They are both super cute, super sweet and very small. The pictures do not show how truly adorable they are. They are about 12 weeks old and have had their first set of shots.
