Calico cat spotted (Nelsonville/The Plains)
This is a longshot, but over the past few months I've seen a couple people post that they're missing calico cats on here. I spotted one today along Route 33 (it was not hit, it was just hanging out, and thought it looked similar to a couple of the ones I had seen. I meant to go back to get a better look, but was blabbing on my phone and forgot. I drove past the area again later, but it was dark. Heading out of Athens toward Nelsonville, it was in the grass just off the righthand side of the road. I think it was in front of the house right before the Bates United Methodist Church, but it could have been in front of the next house along Route 33. It's about a mile or so past the church at an intersection. All I really remember is that it was between The Plains and Nelsonville and that there was a light-colored house in the background. When I went back, there aren't very many houses that match that description. For all I know, the cat could belong to someone who lives around there, but if somone has a missing calico, I thought it'd be worth stopping at the houses I mentioned to ask if they've seen your cat. I saw the cat around 3:30 p.m. Saturday. It looked to be about equal parts white, black and orange (not a tortie).

Our indoor/outdoor cat named Sylvester has been missing for around a month now. He is a black, long haired cat and he has a red tint to the back half of him in the sunlight. He lives on the property next to Morrison and Beacon Schools and when he goes outside he sometimes like to go over to the parking lot. He is very frindly and it's very possible that someone may have taken him thinking he was a stray. 9 week old pit bull puppy (athens)
We have a 9 week old female pit bull puppy that we found abandoned. We were driving down a near by back road late at night and she was sitting along the road extremely cold. She has been wormed but has not received a shot yet. She is excellent with children and is great with dog's and cat's. Whoever chooses to adopt her needs to take her to the vet. She had some sort of infection when we found her but antibiotics have cleared it up for the most part. She just needs a wonderful home. I have 3 dog's of my own and can't keep another. She is well enough to go to her forever home now. But once again i would feel much better if she were seen by a vet shortly after being adopted. We are only asking a rehoming fee of $20.00 to make sure she is safe. I don't have pictures of her right now and really don't have a way to get them on here anytime soon. She is black in color with white markings on her chest and feet! She could possibly be mixed with boxer but def. not anything else. I'm pretty sure she's full blooded american pit bull terrier. Which makes since why someone would drop her off. I love pit bulls and have never had a problem with any that i have ever owned/fostered! Shes great! Please someone give her a great home. We might even be able to talk about the adoption fee more considering you will have to have her seen by a vet. Only serious/great homes only! Looking for a ride to DC (from Athens)

I'm hoping to get out to a political rally that's taking place on December 2nd. It's about a ten hour ride from here to there, I think. Great Dog and absolutely beautiful... I just do not have the room he needs since moving recently. He is neutered, house trained and has always been good with our children. He is a very good tempered dog and i have never had an issue with him. He does love to bark when people come around the house and he sounds 500 pounds and 10 feet tall : )
He is full blooded but papers do not come with him.
I am asking a rehoming fee of $150 to ensure that he only goes to the proper home and that he will be properly taken care of...

He does know basic commands and loves playing tug of war with stuffed animals, as he has a bag of stuffed animals to himself : ) He really needs a home where he will have plenty of room to run, lots of attention and will be well cared for: fed, groomed, etc... and will only be rehomed to such an environment.

Dog Looking For Good Home!
Very sweet three legged Shepard mix, medium size, looking for a new home. We've been forced to move and found that we can't take her with us. She's a wonderful dog with a great temperment. Good with cats and so far has shown to be good with children though she is a little weary of other dogs.
She's been house trained. Knows sit, stay, and come. Can walk well on a leash though sometimes needs reminding. She's very playful and energetic despite her missing leg, and would do great on log walks or jobs. She's very much a people dog and loves to spend every second she can with her family.
She's quiet and will only bark when really excited. She makes a very good apartment dog.
She has been chipped and has had her rabies vaccinations.
We'll also be giving all her stuff including her leash, halter, toys, chews, food and water dish, food, treats, shampoo and grooming cologne, vitamins and anything else I might have forgotten.

We live on a farm and have always welcomed our land to the misfortunate animals that were dropped off. Recently, both of my parents passed away and left me with a huge responsibility of taking care of these animals. My family have become attached to all of the dogs and cats, but realize that they need personal attention that only can be done on a one on one basis. There are just too many animals for us to take care of.
We cannot in good conscience just give away the animals due to the warnings of hoarders and animal cruelty.

Lost Pets
If you have lost a pet - post flyers all around your area (cats can cover a 2 mile radius easily, they are very effective and talk to your neighbors. Photos are important. Use few words and make phone number large so drivers can see it. Use gallon plastic bags to seal flyer if it's rainy weather. Please remove flyers once your pet is found.
Put something outside your door that smells like you, like a t-shirt you have worn; their sense of smell is strong and they may pick up your scent to lead them home.
For cats: place litter box outside door - the smell may attract them.
Give a flyer to your mail carrier and ask him/her to keep a look out for you.
Immediately call (not email) the Dog Shelter to report him missing. Ask them to call you, if a dog OR CAT of your description is brought in, remember to leave your phone numbers.
You should contact all of the vets in Athens County. Give them your phone number & tell them to call you, if a pet of your description is brought in as an injured stray. Someone in your neighborhood could use a vet in Albany or some other area nearby; so include vets you may not be familiar with.
For cats: Go out walking and calling once it gets quiet (e.g., 10:00 p.m. to 2 a.m.). Take a few steps, call, stand still & listen for him to answer, repeat these steps while walking in a spiraled out pattern from your house.
Found Pets
Do not offer information about the following either in postings or to callers;
Collar or lack of collar
Color of collar
If the pet has been neutered or not
Any distinguishing markings
Make sure to have callers give the above identifying information about the pet before allowing them to see/claim the pet.
Post flyers of pet's face (w/o distinguishing markings) with "found" and your phone number in large print at stop signs, dog parks etc. Please remember to remove them once the pet is reclaimed.
If, over time, you think the pet you have found has been abandoned

Found: Beagle Mix (Logan near Sauerkraut Rd)
A female beagle mix showed up around my house this evening. She is full grown and very timid. I really not sure if she was a drop off or if she is just lost. I will keep her at my residence for a few days in hopes the owner is looking for her. She is wearing a red collar with a distinguishing feature. If anyone has information, PLEASE let me know. Currently I am keeping her separated from my male beagle because they are not getting along.
