Calico cat spotted (Nelsonville/The Plains)

This is a longshot, but over the past few months I've seen a couple people post that they're missing calico cats on here. I spotted one today along Route 33 (it was not hit, it was just hanging out, and thought it looked similar to a couple of the ones I had seen. I meant to go back to get a better look, but was blabbing on my phone and forgot. I drove past the area again later, but it was dark. Heading out of Athens toward Nelsonville, it was in the grass just off the righthand side of the road. I think it was in front of the house right before the Bates United Methodist Church, but it could have been in front of the next house along Route 33. It's about a mile or so past the church at an intersection. All I really remember is that it was between The Plains and Nelsonville and that there was a light-colored house in the background. When I went back, there aren't very many houses that match that description. For all I know, the cat could belong to someone who lives around there, but if somone has a missing calico, I thought it'd be worth stopping at the houses I mentioned to ask if they've seen your cat. I saw the cat around 3:30 p.m. Saturday. It looked to be about equal parts white, black and orange (not a tortie).

Still Missing: Black Long Haired Male Cat (S.R. 56 Morrison School Area, Athens)

Our indoor/outdoor cat named Sylvester has been missing for around a month now. He is a black, long haired cat and he has a red tint to the back half of him in the sunlight. He lives on the property next to Morrison and Beacon Schools and when he goes outside he sometimes like to go over to the parking lot. He is very frindly and it's very possible that someone may have taken him thinking he was a stray. found: female beagle (concord church/hooper ridge)

Found: small adult female beagle, tan with white chest, blue collar, in the Concord Church-Hooper Ridge vicinity for about 2-3 weeks, very well behaved, but with no tag and nobody posting any lost dog message for her, to the dog shelter she must go, which is a shame because she surely must have been somebody’s pet and sure would make a good companion dog, great around kids, cats, and other dogs.

Lost Pets
If you have lost a pet - post flyers all around your area (cats can cover a 2 mile radius easily, they are very effective and talk to your neighbors. Photos are important. Use few words and make phone number large so drivers can see it. Use gallon plastic bags to seal flyer if it's rainy weather. Please remove flyers once your pet is found.

Put something outside your door that smells like you, like a t-shirt you have worn; their sense of smell is strong and they may pick up your scent to lead them home.

For cats: place litter box outside door - the smell may attract them.

Give a flyer to your mail carrier and ask him/her to keep a look out for you.

Immediately call (not email) the Dog Shelter to report him missing. Ask them to call you, if a dog OR CAT of your description is brought in, remember to leave your phone numbers.

You should contact all of the vets in Athens County. Give them your phone number & tell them to call you, if a pet of your description is brought in as an injured stray. Someone in your neighborhood could use a vet in Albany or some other area nearby; so include vets you may not be familiar with.

For cats: Go out walking and calling once it gets quiet (e.g., 10:00 p.m. to 2 a.m.). Take a few steps, call, stand still & listen for him to answer, repeat these steps while walking in a spiraled out pattern from your house.

Found Pets
Do not offer information about the following either in postings or to callers;
Collar or lack of collar
Color of collar
If the pet has been neutered or not
Any distinguishing markings
Make sure to have callers give the above identifying information about the pet before allowing them to see/claim the pet.

Post flyers of pet's face (w/o distinguishing markings) with "found" and your phone number in large print at stop signs, dog parks etc. Please remember to remove them once the pet is reclaimed.

Found: Beagle Mix (Logan near Sauerkraut Rd)

A female beagle mix showed up around my house this evening. She is full grown and very timid. I really not sure if she was a drop off or if she is just lost. I will keep her at my residence for a few days in hopes the owner is looking for her. She is wearing a red collar with a distinguishing feature. If anyone has information, PLEASE let me know. Currently I am keeping her separated from my male beagle because they are not getting along.

lost-gray female cat (Co. Rd. 25/Angel Ridge)

Lost: gray female cat with some orange patches faintly showing.Wearing collar with a shield-shaped tag. No information on tag. Recently spayed, so belly is still shaved. Purrs loudly.
Lost in Clark's Chapel area off Co. Rd. 25, but she may have ended up anywhere on Angel Ridge Rd., Longview Hts., or Long Run Rd. She was last seen late Friday afternoon in the woods.
