Description of Job Duties: Develop nuclear safety documentation (e.g., Safety Basis Strategies, Hazard Analyses, Accident Analysis calculations, BIOs, DSAs, TSRs) for various projects and facilities to ensure compliance with DOE and SRNS requirements (e.g., DOE-STD-3009, DOE-STD-5506, DOE-HDBK-3010, 11Q, SCD‐11).
Work assignments will include development of new or revised safety bases for F/H Laboratory, Tritium Extraction Facility, 235-F Facility, HB Line Facility, and Remote-Handled TRU Waste Remediation in the F and H Canyon facilities.
Required Qualifications:
Nuclear Safety Engineer I- Knowledge of and 5 or more years experience in development of safety basis documents listed below in qualifications.
Nuclear Safety Engineer II- Knowledge of and 10 or more years experience in development of safety basis documents listed below in qualifications.
Nuclear Safety Engineer III- Knowledge of and 20 or more years with safety basis documents included listed below including 10 CFR 851. Ability to lead, perform, and document hazards analyses using a team approach with facility engineering, operations, and other support staff. Activities to be analyzed may include nuclear waste processing, spent fuel processing, movement or storage, laboratory operations, and various tritium handling/processing activities.
Qualifications for all Positions:
BS in an Engineering discipline
MS in an Engineering discipline desirable
Professional Engineering License desirable
Experience in development of safety basis documents in accordance with DOE 10 CFR 830; 10 CFR 835
Experience in developing nuclear safety program documentation, procedures, policies, and guidance, reviewing nuclear safety products (e.g., calculations, documented safety analyses), assessing implementation of nuclear safety rules and requirements consistent with the DOE/NNSA directive system inc. its associated Orders, Standards, Manuals, and Guidance
Strong communications skills and ability to interface with craft and technical personnel as well as senior DOE officials
Knowledge of DOE Savannah River Site facilities and/or projects (i.e., MOX, SWPF, PDCF, etc.) desirable
Ability to work in a remote field environment (i.e., outdoor or shutdown facilities) involving ladders, stairs, extensive walking /standing, and hazardous materials desirable
Self-motivated and inquisitive to understand and evaluate why things are being performed the way they are and not simply knowing what is being done
Experience with solid waste management facilities desirable
In addition to meeting the minimum required qualifications for this position, the successful candidate(s) shall have demonstrable experience in the following specific areas:
Performing accident analyses for DOE facilities using methodologies described in DOE‐STD‐3009,DOE‐STD‐3010, and DOE‐STD‐5506. Experience with DOE ToolBox computer codes is desired (e.g.,MACCS2).
Developing Documented Safety Analyses in accordance with DOE safe‐harbor standards identifiedin 10 CFR 830, Subpart B (e.g., DOE‐STD‐3009, DOE‐STD‐1120, DOE‐STD‐3011, DOE‐STD‐5506).
Developing safety documentation supporting major modification to facilities or new projects inaccordance with DOE‐STD‐1189 (e.g., Safety Design Strategies, Conceptual Design Safety Reports,etc.).
Developing Technical Safety Requirements in accordance with DOE safe harbor standards (e.g.,DOE‐STD‐1186) and guides
Performance of hazard analyses in accordance with nuclear or chemical industry standards; prior work leading and performing hazards analyses for SRS facilities is highly desired

Description
These Cost Engineering positions will be primarily involved in providing cost engineering and consulting services for PT&Cs Department of Energy (DOE) client. All projects include work related to project controls, process management, scheduling, and estimating. Develop/analyze project Work Breakdown Structures for use in estimates and schedules Candidates will be responsible for the development, review, assessment, and validation of cost and schedule baselines for major Federal programs. The candidate will also provide streamlining of cost management for Operations and Maintenance for major environmental facilities. The candidate will work on a multi-disciplinary team on a wide range of environmental & facilities related programs including: management consulting studies, development of independent government estimates, assessment of alternatives, development of programs and project management systems, and the development of resource loaded schedules. Provide Earned Value Management (EVM) support in review and validating the M&O contractor baseline (scope definition, cost estimating, BCWS profile, and schedule) in preparation for OECM review. Requirements
- Hold an appropriate 4-year degree (or have a minimum of 10 years directly relevant cost engineering experience).
- Two to ten years of experience in the cost engineering field (or in a related field of which two years must be in cost estimating).
- These positions prefer technical knowledge of several types of work including: environmental remediation, nuclear decontamination and decommissioning, and demolition; construction of major facilities, power generation, and public infrastructure; and program-level operations process management. The ideal candidate would have worked for the DOE as an employee or contractor.
