I am presently taking care of my mother who suffered a minor stroke the end of April. She is doing much better and I am now looking for a position that will keep me in the area for at least the near future or next few months.

Generally, I will come to your home. I can help with dressing and bathing. I do light housekeeping, laundry, cooking, sit and read or just visit with you or your loved one. I have taken a course in Therapeutic and Clinical Nutrition. I can take you to do errands, doctor's appointments, grocery shopping, or even the flea market if you desire, etc. I can administer basic medications, help with physical therapy or take you to the movies!

I am pleasant, outgoing and professional. I can be compulsive about cleaning but making sure you or your loved one is comfortable and happy is my ultimate goal. Open communication is a must.

There is no charge for in-person, in-depth interview. No job is too large (unless you require a licensed RN) or too small. I just request a two-hour minimum for most jobs unless it is an emergency.

I am available 24 hrs a day. A live-in position is also negotiable. Most night shifts 11p - 7a (hours flexible) basic care/overnight monitoring $100/night. Other discounted rates available depending on your needs. I charge $25/hour with a preferred two-hour minimum. However, it is much cheaper requesting 8-12 hour shift work. I have a sliding scale fee based on number of hours needed, for example; if you just needed me for the two hour minimum, than the fee would be $50. If you schedule me for at least 3 to 5 hours than I would drop my rate to $20 per hour, etc. For instance, if you scheduled me for 3 hours instead of 2 hours, the total cost would be $60 for the 3 hours.

I am willing to travel out of state, but all travel expenses will have to be covered by the client. I also mentioned that I am open to a possible "live-in position". A live-in situation is not a cheaper alternative to paying an hourly wage, but I am flexible in negotiating a salary depending on the number of hours and duties required. The benefits of having someone available around the clock or living on the premises can be a highly desirable alternative when compared to the cost of a retirement home or nursing facility. Basic fees for a "live-in" position would start at room and board plus $100/day - depending on the number of days needed and hours involved. For instance, if you needed someone 5 days per week for basic care and household chores, including transportation to and from doctor's appt.s, running errands and general shopping duties would start at $500 per week (5 days on, 2 off) plus room and board. 3 days per week would generally run $300 plus room and board, etc.

Before taking baby-sitting jobs from Craigslist

Get to know people you are babysitting for. If they seem iffy, don't take the job..

I took a job making $80/ week. 2 kids. and no set schedual. I spent a lot of time going to the other side of town, just to be turned around after a short period of time. Or if I was needed to watch the kid(s) after being truned around and not needed that evening, I would come out. IT is unfair that afterwaiting 2 weeks to get paid, I only recieved $70 for the 2 weeks.. She did it in a cowardly manner - by putting it in the mail box, and only talked via text. AND get this, A few short hours before me confronting her about the (lack of pay), and her telling me how she didnt like how I did my job - She asked if I could babysit tonight. I declined because I had somethings I had to do!

Maybe if there was more communication on their behalf, this could have ben avoided. This whole thing upset me.. Literally.. Just because of how random this all happened and because of the lack of pay. I put in my time...
