Retrieve Files from Hard Drive (South Austin)

I have an HP laptop. I needed to "restore" windows. I have done this many times, but never with the HP recovery tool.

I backed up all my files to the C Drive (as I have done in the past) thinking Windows would not overwrite them. This was
great until the HP recovery tool started formatting my drive. I shut the PC down very quickly.

I need to see if three folders off the root can be retrieved. You will need to remove my drive and back the files up to my
external USB drive (if they are still there)

I need help putting together a CD set for a 200 room hotel remodel. Specifically, I need help drafting the bathrooms (each one is essentially different... I know it sounds crazy). Replicate Windows 2000 Server (Austin)

I have a website set up that I use to operate a medical transcription company. For this I have two servers set up in CoreNap's datacenter up on McNeil Drive in Austin. I have a live server and a "backup" server that is a functional copy of the live server. The OS is Windows 2000 Server and we are using an Oracle database 9i and some other custom software that is integrated into a website. The site is used to send and receive medical files between the clinics and my workers. Basically, we recieve voice files from the clinics, I assign them to a set of workers, who turn the sound files into medical records, and then return these records in MS Word format to the clinics/hospitals. We track the progress of each file in the database and use it to manage the workflow and timeliness of the product. This business has been running since 2002 and we have not really updated anything on our software since that time. However, I need to do some work/maintenance on this.

First, I want to change the way our site interacts with clients. Currently, the website is running some scripting software that automates sending and receiving files. I do not have the source code for this, but it is the piece of software that is sending/recieving and encrypting the files that are transferred to and from my clients. I want to rewrite this piece of software, but keep my existing database setup and stay with Windows 2000, if that is possible. I do not even know if it is possible to buy a new piece of hardware and configure it with Win 2000... I imagine that there a problem with newer processors being 64 bit?? Also, the software that needs to be redone... I don't know what language it is written in. It might be Active X or it could be VB script? I do not know. My main problem with it though is that it is so automated that I keep getting blocked by customer firewalls. As soon as our customers log on to our site, we initiate an FTP session with them. The customer is not pulling it, we are pushing it on them and making the connection after they log on. We adjust their folders and initiate a connection with our server. Because of this we need to be allowed access through customer firewalls, else we are always blocked. In order to get through, we need customers to allow both passive and nonpassive ftp traffic to our ip address. This is all fine and dandy if the office has a decent IT person who can set up and run their network, but occasionally this is a problem. Either getting started or when they run the myriad of updates to their network and PCs we are constantly getting blocked again and having to be allowed back through the firewall. This is enough of a problem that I do lose some business due to this. Also, since I do not have the source code for this piece of software, I feel that I should have it rewritten.

Second, I want to build out a whole new server. Currently I have one main server running for customers and then a backup server that is not used. I want to load up a new server with Win 2000 (or whatever we decide to use), Oracle, all the software, etc. basically replicating what I already have and then use this new server to test and build the new scripting software above. I sort of need some consulting advice along with this as I don't know if it is possible (or advisable) to stay with 2000. I somewhat hope to stay with 2000, because it has been very solid (never had a crash) and I have no server related problems... and can sleep well at night.

I suppose, the way this would work is that you would consult with me on the approach. I would expect that I would then buy a new server and you would take it to your home or you might have to do some work from my office, but you would set it up, replicating what we can based on what we already have running. I would give you access to our current server setup with PCAnywhere. Then you would set up the new box and rewrite the code that we need rewritten. I can test the software for you and tell you what functionality is not working, but you would need to leave some

can you build a web based software program? (Austin)

Do you have the skills to develop a web-based application from start to finish? I need a custom program for my business. It requires a SQL database, must be written to the MISMO XML standard, and must be very secure. The actual application is basically just a form-filler at heart, with some interfaces to maps and the ability to load photos and a few other add-on's. For example, I want to be able to upload a data set (in tab, comma, or Excel format) that will be up to 200 columns by potentially a thousand rows, have the program sift through that data (that I will help provide rules for),and then have that data auto-pop into a standard form. Then the user will continue to fill out other text and numerical fields throughout the form. There are a few more bells and whistles required, but that is the meat of it.
If you have this experience (SQL database, software development, web application development) and can make me comforatble that you are capable of doing this project (I am not a programmer so a resume full of acronyms will not help), I'd like to talk.

After getting some responses let me add some additional info: I noted the bid I got from the offshore company just FYI - I don't have any idea what this would take to build which is why I am looking for some expertise. Secondly, I have no particular idea what the best way to design it would be -- again, this is why I am looking for an expert, I am not a programmer. What I do know is that most companies that provide a similar product use SQL as the back-end database. However, the MISMO XML standard is required for the data that is entered into the form, so that the data in the completed "product" can be extracted for analysis. Third, the final product will be a web-based software program, similar to Salesforce or Quicken Online -- I am NOT just looking to get a standard website developed, this is a full-blown web-based version of what currently exists as desktop software. Finally, I do have a reasonably detailed spec, but want to narrow down candidates prior to getting into the details.

What I am looking for in terms of responses is what similar projects you have worked on, what you might recommend for the outline of what I am proposing, and what you, in your professional opinion, would estimate that initial development might cost (or required man-hours) to get the basics in place. I'm willing to invest some money into this project because I believe there is a need for it, but at the same time the person I work with will be the "architect" of the product so if it is successful we will be tied together for a while, so I'm hoping for a better rate up front on the chance that it will continue to be profitable for both of us.
