Need some really simple lighting help/advice FRIDAY (Just off Rundberg and I35)

Have a unique lighting situation that I need to take care of TODAY (Friday). Would LOVE it if it could be done by noon -- 2 at the latest. Basically need to light a small area (say 3x6) with the camera at the end of the 6 foot portion. It is being shot in HD so light needs to be good. Don't think this will take anyone with lighting knowledge more than perhaps 10 - 15 minutes to figure out. It will probably require me going to rent equipment but at least I will know what to ask for ;) . I just have no idea what needs to be done. My office is at Rundberg/Cameron road so fairly central.

Need crew for local short movie (South Congress)

We are looking for a sound recordist, art department, and general crew. It will be filmed on the red one camera.
We are going to be filming Tuesday morning the 24th. It'll be an early morning shoot, probably at first light, but we will be wrapped at noon. There is no going overtime because the store we are shooting in front of opens at noon, so we have to clear out. We'll be shooting on South Congress. It's a very cartoony and fun shoot, and should be a good time, especially now that it's cooled down outside! Expect a good breakfast and lunch.

Open Casting Call for Event Stage Manager (Austin)

Local video game developer is looking for stage manager to assist with the entertainment portion of its December party. Gig is approximately 30-50 hours (possibly more) over the course of 3 weeks, including the event and 2-3 rehearsals. Compensation is $10 per hour, payable in full at the end of the event, plus a possible completion bonus for someone whose efforts were truly stellar.

Must speak flawless English, have reliable transportation, and exhibit strong leadership skills. Experience isn’t required in the theatre industry, but must be relevant to the stage manager role. Professionalism and maturity is a must.

Job description:

The stage manager will essentially be the head traffic controller of our live entertainment. During the rehearsal process, the stage manager's most important role will be to record all of the blocking, lighting cues, prop usage, costume changes, and entrances of all the performers. This will require shadowing the director and taking copious notes. The stage manager is also responsible for assisting with the scheduling of rehearsal times and making sure those times are respected by all actors.

On the day of the live performance, the stage manager may have to deal with both technical and human crises. An actor may not be able to perform due to illness, or a crucial prop may disappear. The stage manager must be able to think under pressure while maintaining some semblance of order and timeliness. Actors will depend on the stage manager to count down the time until the curtain rises. Indeed, it will be the stage manager's job to issue the familiar call of 'Places Everyone!' shortly before the performance begins.

The stage manager should be the most visible person backstage and the most invisible person onstage. Our stage manager should have both artistic and technical stagecraft skills, since the performance may require dealing with creative temperaments and technical glitches at the same time. Detail-oriented, critical thinking skills are essential.

Wardrobe/Costume Dept. PA needed for feature film (in and around Austin)

I'm the Costume Designer for a large feature film shooting in and around Austin starting around 20 November. I need a competent, smart intern (male or female) who is interested in working on and learning about the Wardrobe Department for a large film. You will be exposed to all aspects of the film-making process, but you will be assisting the Wardrobe Department specifically - running errands (both on set and off), assisting the Costume Designer and Wardrobe Supervisor and basically being our third body on set. We start filming around 30 November, but we have several weeks of pre-production before that, during which you may be needed. You will absolutely have to have a reliable vehicle for this job and I will try to get reimbursement for your gas expenses. This is a NON-PAYING gig, but you will learn a ton about how films are made and this gig could lead to more work in the future.

Stunt Choreographer for 16mm Music Video (Central Austin)

I am looking for a stunt choreographer experienced with stunt slapping, kicking, and hitting. This project is particularly sensitive because we are working with kids and we need someone who is capable of communicating with children as to ensure their safety.

Experience With PXL 2000 Cameras? (Austin and surrounding areas)

I am looking to interview people that work with or have worked with PXL 2000 cameras. Whether you have shot amateur films with them as a kid or ambitious experimental films as an adult, I’d love to hear about your experiences.

If you have been involved with the PXL 2000 and are interested in participating in a documentary film, please get in touch and note your experience/interest with the camera as well as your background.

We will be looking to do interviews between December-February. We will also be looking to use clips made with the camera to accompany the interviews. Camera person needed for low budget film (austin)

I'm looking for a camera operator to shoot my low budget Horror film 'Jon" Filming begins Nov. 13th. This will be a shot on the weekends film with two Monday night dates. The film will feature Bill Johnson from The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and Lloyd Kaufman President of Troma entertainment . Well be shooting on the Sony EX1 so if you own or are familiar with that camera that will be a plus. Experience is necessary, but I'm not requiring you to be a pro with a feature film under your belt (though that would be nice.) Please have a reel I can check out of your work.

Camera Person/ Sound Person (south austin)

Aether Paranormal is shooting a pilot episode for potential TV distribution. We need a camera operator/sound / assistant for the shoot. This is a non-paid gig but will be fun and of course when we get picked up this will be BIG. We are tentatively planning on the weekend of November 13th somewhere in Texas (Dallas, Austin, SA) we don't know which location will come through yet. Responsibilities: 1. making us look good. 2. Follow direction. 3. Make us look good. This is a guerilla shoot with a short timing window. Would like someone with camera skills. We are using a panasonic HMC150 (similar to HVX200). We will have several different camera set ups: shoulder rig, jib, flowpod stabilizer. Shooting will be over a 2 day period so be available. MUST BE HIGHLY SKILLED AND RESOURCEFUL w/ PRO GEAR.
Can shoot SATURDAY or SUNDAY in Austin. ONE OUTDOOR LOCATION. Scout needed.

Must also be an editing GURU or know someone who is great at FINAL CUT or on the AVID. Need spot edited quickly.
Very simple spot. No dialogue. Just V/O and music bed. Need 2 actors as well. (1) Twenty something hipster with funny expressions. (1) Classic Little Old Lady Type Age 65-80. $50 each for actors.

Canon 5d or 7d Camera/ Camera Person (Austin)

Looking for a Camera person with a 5d or 7d.

The project is a half hour short/docu music video around Austin. I'm looking into buying one or both of these cameras and would love to use it on this short first. I also have a Canon XHA1, and that will be used as well (especially for sound).

The shoot should take around 10 hours, it could be one day, or five days, depending on your/our schedule.

If you require pay, let me know how much, if you are willing to trade, I will be happy to work with my camera on your project, and if you are just looking for experience, even better. Hopefully we'll put together a pretty good reel.

Seeking a creative, imaginative and resourceful theater Lighting Designer and Director that wants a fresh challenge designing and operating the lights and set design for a touring rock band that wants theater design ... not rock concert design to enhance its shows. Imagination and creative use of resources is important as we want to think big but have a limited budget. Will design and plot the lighting, stage and props, and acquire and maintain all of the gear; rig and de-rig for one-night performances; load and transport gear; operate the equipment during performances; program and run house lighting consoles and integrate into band's gear. Must be reliable and responsible and able to travel regularly for two weeks or more at a time. Looking for entry-level, fresh out of college or similar. Transportation is required.
