I Need housing walking distance to UT by Dec $400

I'll be going to UT this spring and will need a place for this coming spring and maybe summer. I'll be at school most of the week(Mon-Fri) working or in class, I'll usually come home around 5pm, and I go to bed around 10pm-7am, so I won't be around much during the week, i don't need my own room, just the living room and maybe access to a closet to keep me stuff etc, that's it! I have my own futon, but if you have a couch that's fine too. After a short (ill-conceived) pit-stop in Dallas, I'm making my way to Austin in January. I'm on leave from a liberal arts school in Massachusetts, where my things are cloistered away in storage, so I am ideally looking for a furnished room. I am very responsible when it comes to bills and a good contributor to the household. It wont cost anything extra. There is plenty of parking, but its not covered. So when the hail storms come this Spring, I dont want to hear your complaining. Sometimes I get over-bearing. Especially since youre typically not correct and I have my facts straight. So its probably just better if you mind your own business. I consider myself a people person, as long as I like you. I love to grill out by the pool and have a beer in the evenings, and youre welcome to join me, but bring your own food and drink. Smoking is allowed inside the apartment, including 420 as long as you share without seeking any compensation. You're welcome to visit your kids if you have some, any where but here. I'm a single 27 year old lady looking to either rent a room in a house with others, or sublet a small space. I work downtown for Whole Foods, and bike everywhere, so Central is a must-- Central being within the confines of the big highways (1, 183, 290/71, I35). From there I'm really flexible as far as location... I've lived all over Austin (been here 14 years) and have appreciated every part of it differently. Being near major bus lines is a plus as biking in the early hours in the winter sucks sometimes!
My work schedule is not really flexible, however, and has me getting up most days between 3 and 5am, and [trying] to put myself down pretty early. I do like living with others, but I'm not much of a partier and really value my sleep, so if your household is active and noisy into the late hours, this would probably not be a good fit. I waver between being a homebody and being out roaming around town, but I don't tend to bring a crowd back to my place to hang out other than having the odd friend over to cook dinner or watch a movie. I'm probably tidier than most, ... actually, I hate grime. I learned how to pick up after myself and wash my dishes right after using them a long time ago. I tend to get a long well with all types, as long as cleanliness and mutual respect is part of the deal.
A little more about me... I'm pretty much consumed by food and wine, and they take up the better chunk of my hobby time; I'm a decent cook (I make a pretty mean steak) and I love cooking for others. Yes, you will be treated. I I'm a little vain about my bicycle and I love tooling around town on it, and I've been trying to figure out how to take it on vacation with me somewhere far away. I'm definitely the type to vacation by myself, and as many friends as I do have, I kind of cherish some of the antisocial tendencies that crop up in me from time to time. My family lives in Austin as well, and we're pretty close and I spend a lot of time with them. I consider myself fairly low maintenance (cleaning neuroses aside), as in: no make-up, air-dried hair, jeans, Vans, and tshirts every day, and I really don't own a whole lot of stuff-- maybe about a bedroom's worth, aside from a huge collection of my sisters' large scale awesome paintings. Those things have livened up every place I've lived in amazingly. Shared bath is fine but one luxury I am sorely missing is having a washer and dryer... biking to the laundromat also sucks.
I do smoke (outdoors) and drink, and I'm friendly to most other tame stuff, though I don't partake myself. I love animals, as long as they're housebroken, of course (who doesn't love that). I don't need much room, and kind of prefer small bedrooms, as long as they don't come with dungeon-sized windows. I'm not looking to stay in Austin for longer than a year though, as I'm trying to save some cash to move overseas and a year is the goal I've set for myself. If you have something for an even shorter availability, like 8 months, I'd be willing to consider it-- it may push me to work harder. $400 is about the max I can afford to pay before bills come into consideration, so please don't email me about an awesome $750 sublet... I really can't do it, and you're just going to torture me. As for as utilities go, I definitely need good internet, but I don't watch tv so really it's just the basics beyond that. I drink tons of coffee and love reading and watching the news and books and all kinds of other stuff that has print on it.
Total roommate turnoffs: major pothead households, late night loud music, 12th&Chicon locations, children under the age of 18 (love kids, just don't want to live with them at this point), Direct Buy decorating schemes, suburbia, fanny pack-hipsterness, militant anything, Christians, apartments... ok, we'll stop there.
Good stuff: a ridiculous sense of humor in the house, people with an eye for design, backyard bonfires, 'family' dinners where schedules line up, beautiful hardwood floors, gardening, leafy neighborhoods, good conversationalists

Hi there i really trying to move from east texas to austin area. Where I at is very limited of jobs and places to go. I am 34 mixed med brown skin and brown curly hair. I in Orange texas, which most people never heard of. I living with my friend and his dad. I moved from philly to texas to be closer to my mom. The reason I am in orange because I thought I was getting my old grandparents house to live in. Yes my mom and some of my family who lived in house, they in a way, found out I was gay and turn there back on me. Now me living in orange, stuck here, and been trying to find a job is is very out numbered. yes very limited and just not working out here. By me living with my friend and his dad. i do chores around the house, so it like a job. which they needed really bad around here. I been busting my butt for nearly a year, and with or without money, I manage to deal with it, But I really want out and branch on my own. it hard to do that around here, and plus I want to get out of this small limited town. i am a hard working and easy to get along with. it be cool to found someone who willing to help me out with a place to live for a while until i get on my feet. But I know there are some strange people out there. i not asking for any sexual favor from any one. I know better then that. i know I gay, but I not the type that goes out to party. i mainly a home person.

I am a grad student looking for a place to stay once or twice a week. I am a musician here in Austin and am trying to make music as a living one day.

Right now I am a technician and can offer my skills too. as well as lawn and garden tools and work.
I have my own herbs.

The place must be pet friendly and have space for some of my stuff.

I usually stay pretty quiet and mostly need a place to call home base while I work. Just sleep, shower and get ready for the day.

South Ausitn is where most of my friends and gigs are so I prefer that area but am open to East Austin and country living as long as the commute is minimal.

Hello,

I'm looking for a more central place to call home, the place I'm staying at is wonderful and ideal but it's too far south for me. I'm using my bike and the bus while I wait for some title/registration issues to be resolved with my vehicle. Ideally the space has something to sleep on, but I am OK with just buying an air matress. I'm a mature 22 year old guy who does not do any drugs, does not 420, does not drink, smoke, bring home one-night-stands etc. I more or less keep to myself, spend a lot of time on the computer drumming up work leads (self-employed) and reading. I do like to cook, at least 1 if not 2 meals/snacks a day. I clean up after myself and then some, the kitchen is generally more spotless when I leave then when I get there. I don't have much stuff, everything fits in maybe a 5x5x5 space, plus 2 bikes I keep outside. I also have a large touring scooter, but I probably don't need to bring it with me since it won't be legal for a while. I'd be interested in moving in ASAP, and leaving by Thanksgiving. I would be willing to pay the equivalent of $500 ABP for the duration of my stay. Just a little something to keep money in your pocket while you find a more permanent renter. Oh yeah, there is a chance when I get back from Louisiana in early December I'll be looking for a place again... Just a possibility.. It would be nice if some one had extra garage space for me to keep my stuff in for a while after I leave, a week or two absolute max, but not a biggie either way, I've got other friends and access to storage space.. Anyways... The long and short if it is: If you've got a space that's within 5 miles of downtown, talk to me.
