About Texas Independence Fest
The Texas Independence Fest was organized to bring friends, family, and most importantly, Texans together to celebrate and take pride in the great state of Texas.

Texas is a melting pot of many different cultures and genres, and we like to exemplify that by making the festival highly diverse. Folks of all ages and from all walks of life attend, and there is a common bond that exists amongst everyone: Texan pride.

We invite everyone to bring their camping gear in order to enjoy and celebrate their Texan pride, and without having to worry about how they're going to get home after the festivities.

The different styles of music, vendors, and activities at the festival are as diverse as the state's inhabitants, and there will definitely be something for everyone.

FORMER PETLAND GEORGETOWN EMPLOYEES! (GEORGETOWN, TX)

If you worked for the Petland in Georgetown, and you're willing to testify in Court about your experiences while working there, please respond. YOU DO NOT NEED TO FEAR REPERCUSSION OR LAWSUITS! I have copies of the Employee Confidentiality Agreements and there is nothing precluding you from testifying. What they're doing needs to stop. If you know somebody who worked there, send them a link to this post! Need to hear from you immediately.

If you are a Petland protester or member of a rescue group, I appreciate your anecdotes about your experiences, but it's not useful to me and my matter has nothing to do with rescues or protests. I am seeking only CURRENT or FORMER PETLAND GEORGETOWN WOLF RANCH EMPLOYEES.

Thank you!

PROJECT: CARE CASE (GATTIS SCHOOL ROAD)

HELLO! PROJECT: CARE CASE will be having it's first annual suitcase drive/rummage sale on Saturday, Nov 7 between the times of 9 a.m. thru 2 p.m. at THE FELLOWSHIP at 3379 Gattis School Road.

When children first arrive into foster care, they may not have any personal belongings. Or, what little they do have is carried around with them, often times, in a plastic grocery or trash bag. And, if they are in multiple foster placements, they may only have a trash bag to carry their belongings in.

How do I know this? I was once a foster child. I remember vividly not having anything to call my very own. We have fostered and adopted over the last few years. In most, cases children arrive at their foster placement in the same way.

It is our privilege to be able to continue helping children in foster care. PROJECT: CARE CASE was put into place to see that a child has something(s) of their very own. A PERSONALIZED and age appropriate suitcase on wheels.

Our rummage sale's proceeds will go directly towards purchasing "care cases" for kids currently in care. We will continue to help facilitate the needs of future children in care, too.

Please come to our rummage sale. Or, you may feel moved to donate a small to medium sized suitcase on wheels. They do NOT have to be brand new. Just VERY gently worn. Once we get the suitcases, we will go about getting the children's names put on them. We also need NEW pillows and blankets. That way if they are in multiple placements, they have something of comfort to take with them. Please go to http://www.projectcarecase.org to view our mission. We will also be accepting other contributions on Saturday. Please see Connie Bellows.

PLEASE HELP MAKE THIS DAY A HUGE SUCCESS. With over 200 children in foster care, there is a large need to fill. For any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me(Connie Bellows) at 512.852.9276. I look forward to hearing from you. PLEASE only serious need reply.

Re: Business partners wanted (all over)

This is a standard MLM scam for an Amway-like company called Melaleuca. Beware any ads that ask you for your information before revealing even the company name; Melaleuca appears nowhere in all the initial literature. Google "Work At Home United", and you'll see exactly two kinds of posts: one kind says it's not what it purports to be, and the other kind of response is so glowingly positive ("love it! Hundreds of dollars a month, and I'm a stay-at-home mom!") that they're obvious phonies.

And why is it in "Local News", anyway? Have the guts to put it where it belongs.

AUSTIN AUTO GLASS INSURANCE CLAIMS (www.alamoautoglasssa.com)

CONTACTING "YOUR" INSURANCE COMPANY TO REPORT AN AUTO GLASS CLAIM

When contacting your insurance company regarding an auto glass claim it is your right to choose which auto glass replacement company you want to replace your glass. You as a consumer may not be aware that in the state of TEXAS the INSURED, not the INSURANCE COMPANY, dictates which shop to use. You may also be unaware that the large Insurance companies, which you pay rates to every month, have signed contracts with NATIONAL auto glass companies to provide billing and auto glass replacement services at cut-rate prices. These NATIONAL auto glass companies provide lower prices by cutting corners, such as; using inferior glass, cheap adhesive systems, and employing Technicians that are not Certified. Thus, compromising the structural integrity of your car and in fact making it not safe to drive. In fact, when you call the 1-800 number in the back of your insurance ID card to file a glass claim the person who answers the call is employed by one of these NATIONAL auto glass companies NOT YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY. These NATIONAL glass companies have setup call centers throughout the country on behalf of the insurance companies to "intercept" these calls. Thus allowing their Customer Service Reps. to "STEER" YOUto one of their own shops. Where in turn the NATIONAL glass company cuts corners makes a profit and the insurance company saves thousands.

Now, this practice is known as "STEERING" and is illegal in most states including Texas. However, if the National Call Centers are not in a state that has this law to ensure consumer choice it still happens. So, before you call your insurance company regarding an auto glass claim call a reputable, local, well-knowned, auto glass shop you know and trust.Remember, it's your vehicle with your family in it, make it a safe vehicle. Make it YOUR CHOICE.

Do you use Craigslist for job leads? (Austin)

Do you use Craigslist for job leads? If so then here's a heads up: these ads call for you to attend a 2 hour meeting in which they smooth talk to you into buying real estate classes. If you want to buy real estate classes, great, however for us job seekers this is a total waste of time and gas money. Please help flag and keep Craigslist jobs limited to actual paying jobs. thanks.

THE APOTHECARY HAS OPEN

I've been looking closely at the new place on Burnet and 48th st. being built, and worked on since I live nearby. It's called the Apothecary.
I dropped by there yesterday and it was amazing!
If you are into an international feel cafe this is your new place. A great selection of wine, teas, and paninis. I also saw eclectic pastries on the counters. Moreover, the music and art are somewhat hip, if you are a fan of Manu Chao, and graphic design paintings.
I believe the new renovated Burnet District with Sampaios (Brazil), Phoenicia (Middle Eastern), Maru (Japanese) and the soon to come Spaniard tapas bar from Jezebel will become the international hangar of this beautiful city of ours.!
