We are located directly on the LBL hike & bike trail under Mopac and near the parking lot off of Stratford Drive (right by the entrance to the Science and Nature Center). I was walking down Rowena near 50th tonight after the UT game (around 11pm) and a large, all-black dog came bounding over to me. He was extremely friendly and followed me home. He didn't have any tags, just a prong collar on. I checked this list to see if anyone was looking for him but didn't find anything, so I had to take him to Town Lake Animal Shelter because I have four dogs and couldn't keep him (some of my dogs can be sketchy with dogs they don't know).

I took some pictures of him with my phone to help his owner identify him. They can be seen below. He looked to me like a lab-husky mix, but could've definitely been something else.

Anyway, if he is yours he is at TLAC. I hate taking dogs there but I didn't really have a choice. He was so sweet that I'm confident even if noone claims him he will be adopted quickly.

Calico Cat - FREE Declawed, Long Hair Female (Austin, TX (South))

Pretty Female Long Haired Calico, Declawed. She is underweight after being lost for a while, but she just needs food and love.

My wife and I got a puppy just a few hours ago, and have decided that a puppy is a little too much for us right now. We have rabbits and while she is fine with them.. they're a little scared of her. We paid a 25 dollar rehoming fee to get her today, and have bought her a 4 pound bag of HEB puppy food and a water and food bowl, so we're asking 40 to rehome her now - We'll include the bowls and food as we have no other dogs.

White Lab Mix (Austin Dog Rescue)

Alexis is a very beautiful white lab mix. She is approximately 1 year old and weighs about 55 pounds. Alexis is housetrained and crated trained. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night curled up with her new collection of toys and a bone. Alexis gets along great with her foster sister, and it seems that she would be a great friend and playmate for another dog. Alexis cannot play now as she is recovering from heartworms, but we can see it in her eyes that she is just dying to run around and play with her new doggie friends. Alexis may be ok as an only dog too, but once she is well she would need daily playtime and exercise with her family. Because Alexis is so sweet and is rather gentle, she would likely be great with children, although she would probably need to go to a home with children over 7 as she still occasionally likes to jump to give hugs. Sweet Alexis is a little too fond of the cat in her foster home and will be best in a home without cats.

Meet Chester, he is a german shepherd lab mix weighing in at about 23 pounds, 4 months old, this bundle of fun will win your heart. He is learning something new everyday. I have two guinea pigs in need of a new home. I have one female named Jenny and one male named Sonny. Jenny is brown, red, and white and is very sweet. Female rat! (Austin)

I have a dark brown with light brown spots, and a white belly, that I no longer can keep. She is very shy at first but she's beautiful and has never bitten anyone. The first time you try to say hello she will nip at you but it never hurts and its a way of saying hello and to get an idea of who you are. She loves to follow me around, its so cute! Im asking for a $5 rehoming fee. I am not able to sell you the cage, my sister is wanting to use it for her rats when she breeds (she breeds hairless). I am moving out of state and the person I am moving in with is allergic to just about everything. Pretty Bella- 4 mo Kitten- Needs A Home

We rescuers know that for some strange reason, black kittens always have the hardest time finding homes. Please give Bella chance to show you what a wonderful companion she will make in your home. She purrs constantly and gives kisses! Her coat is very soft and glossy, and she has bright gold eyes. Bella and her sister were found abandoned at a park when they were only 2 weeks old, so she was bottle-raised in a loving home. Arabella has been raised with children, cats and a gentle dog so she's very social and will do well in most situations. She's quite confident and is a real talker! She is available to a 100% INDOOR home only. She has perfect indoor manners, uses a scratching post very well, and let you clip her claws. She is spayed, vaccinated, tested for FIV/leukemia and micro-chipped. There is an adoption fee to cover the vet costs which were all done at Animal Trustees.

Sweet & Adorable Blue Heeler Needs a Good Home (North Central Austin )

Hank is a very sweet Australian Cattle dog mix (aka Blue Heeler) who is about 1-1.5 years old. He is a very handsome boy with an expressive face and big goofy ears. Though he weighs in at 43 pounds, he thinks he's a lap dog and loves to cuddle! In fact, he thinks people are just about the best thing ever! Though Hank loves being with people, he's also fairly independent and if fine chilling in his crate or on the couch by himself. He's also good at entertaining himself and enjoys chewing on rawhides and Kongs (but never your shoes!). He's also a perfect gentleman on a leash, is housebroken, and knows some basic obedience commands. He loves playing with our male dog, though he can be a little pushy and is learning socialization skills. He would be best with a family that can work with him on training and socialization.

With all of his wonderful qualities, it's hard to believe that Hank wasn't wanted by his previous family. He originally showed up as a stray outside of a dog kennel, where he slept out in the cold rain with no food for several days before they took him to the shelter. He also experienced some sort of trauma (possibly being hit by a car) that caused him to have a painful dislocated hip. Luckily he just had surgery on his hip and is starting to feel better. He will make a great working dog or walking partner when he's all healed from his surgery.

Hank's medical bills are being sponsored through Lucky Mutts rescue group. Their adoption fee is $150 which includes the costs of his neutering, hip surgery, vaccinations, and flea/heartworm preventative. A great deal for this sweet boy!

KITTEN NEEDS A HOME (parmer)

I found this kitten that was stuck in a tree today. I managed to get her closer for me to reach her and get her out. I actually don't know if its a girl or boy, I just think the kitten is a she because she is so sweet. I can not keep her, since I have 2 dogs that won't have that. I have her in the garage with her sleeping quarters but, really need her to have a home asap. I don't want to take her to the shelter so I thought I give it a try here. The kitten color is black,grey and white. She is mostly grayish and black and has some pretty stripes. I don't know how old she is, but I fed her dry food and she is eating that. She likes kids but is weary to fast movement. She is a real cuddle bug and just wants love. A really good local organization needs our help. Austin Pets Alive-www.austinpetsalive.org - is in real need of your old towels, sheets and blankets. They do animal adoptions in the LAZ parking lot on 1318 S Congress ( by San jose Hotel & across from St Vincent de Pauls). It was chilly and wet today and they were short of what they needed to keep the animals warm and dry. . They do adoptions here 7 days a week or check their website for more info. I'm a jewelry artist who sets up there in the artisan market.. Bring towels, sheets,blankets, etc tomorrow to the lot between 11 AM & 5 PM and I'll give you 15% off anything in my booth. Animal Cage (Dripping Springs)

RE: Lovely Persian calico for exchange or adoption

Seriously?
Cats are SO low maintenance, it's crazy. Change their litter box once or twice a day, and make sure their fed. Other than that, they bathe themselves, and can entertain themselves pretty well.
& you're wanting to TRADE your cat for a DOG? Dogs are the high maintenance ones!
Not only that, but you say you don't have time for your cat - how are you going to have time for a dog?

Why don't you just be honest, and say that you don't want your cat anymore. Or tell us if there's something wrong with it, so that no one adopts this poor thing and gets stuck with thousands of dollars in medical bills.

Be serious, you think someone is really going to say, "Oh, okay... she just doesn't have time for a cat!"

That's the most irresponsible, uneducated, selfish excuse I've ever heard in my life.

I rescued a 8 year old daschund from the side of the road. I tried to find his owners but to no avail. I cannot keep him because I have two kids and he is aggressive towards them. Nunkie is a perfect, loving, friendly kitty cat who was dumped at the shelter and is now on death row. Please rescue her 6pm Monday before they put this sweet kitty to sleep.

NUNKIE (A561188, SB27) is a young, healthy black and white kitty cat who is simply wonderful. When you open the cage she starts talking to you and then if you start stroking her she rolls on her side and begs for more love! She also likes to knead her blankie (see top right photo) which is very cute. Nunkie was brought to the shelter as a stray, "wrapped in a towel" and she was quite upset about this. Despite her ordeal of getting to the shelter she loves people and would love to leave the shelter alive. Can you help? Do you have room in your heart for Nunkie?

Super sweet Pit needs a good home

I have a 1-year old pit bull that I found last week that I can't keep, and I haven't had any luck tracking down his owner. I found him when a friend called me to tell me a dog was running around inside her elementary school. I took him home where he's been great with my dogs and cats, so he's obviously fine with kids and animals. He loves to play, hasn't destroyed anything yet, and is absolutely adorable. He isn't chipped or neutered, and I suspect he needs his shots. I'm not not charging a re-homing fee, but I won't give him to anyone that can't/won't get him fixed/chipped/checked up. Whoever takes him will need to pay for that to ensure that he isn't going to a research lab or other horrific end.

I am looking for a good home for an abandoned Labrador mix. She was abandoned at a friends home and needs a new home to make the family happy. She is very active and loves to play catch.

I am unable to keep up with her since I am disabled and can not give her the physical attention she so desearves. It would be nice to find a home where her new master likes to run or play catch, or likes to go to the park.

Happy Endings Dog Rescue: Meet George! (Austin)

George is an all around awesome dog! He is about 3 years old, and we are pretty sure he is an Pit Bull/Yellow Lab mix. He was abandoned at one of Happy Ending's facilities, and he has been making us smile us ever since. While everyone at Happy Endings will miss George's smiling face, we all know that he is ready to find his forever home!

He is a hilarious dog, who is full of energy, and very eager to please. He is neutered, is up to date on all of on all of his shots/heartworm prevention/flea prevention, and he has been microchipped. He gets along well with female dogs who want to play as much as he does, and while he likes children, he would do best in a home without children under the age of 5, as he is a big active boy, and could potentially knock a small child over.

He has been through training and knows all of these commands now:

-Sit
-Down
-All the way Down/Settle
-Heel/Easy
-Drop it/Leave it
-Wait (at the door)
-Stay (we're still working on perfecting stay, but he has the idea!)

George is still very much a puppy at heart, and while he's a smart guy, he is still pretty excitable. We would love to find him a companion that will keep him mentally and physically active, while he learns just how to harness all of his play! He walks VERY well on a leash, and loooves hiking, running, and car rides. He would make an excellent agility dog too!

YOU SHOULD BE WILLING TO TRAP THEM AGAIN NEXT YEAR AND GET THEM VETTED AGAIN FOR RABIES, FLEAS, WORMS. TAKE IN TRAP TO VET IS BEST FOR FERAL CATS. EMANCIPET MAY VET FERAL CATS INSIDE A TRAP, CALL THEM. THERE ARE $20 HEAT PADS AT PETSMART THAT DO NOT REQUIRE PLUG; WEIGHT OF CAT GIVES OFF HEAT (PUT UNDER HAY, ON TOP OF CEDAR CHIPS WHICH KEEP FLEAS DOWN). 796-4399. Help Save Jerry the Turkey

Help Save Jerry, We adopted Jerry 3 days ago from an add that was posted on Craigslist and discovered that Jerry had cataracts soon after. Jerry is a 3 year old Narraganset Turkey an is a sweatheart, I have never met a sweeter bird. A veterinary opthmologist at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists has evaluated him and recommended surgery to remove the cataracts. We would not be even contemplating surgery for Jerry unless it greatly improved his quality of life, but right now Jerry is most likely completely blind. He needs full assistance to eat and drink and is pretty sedentary because of his lack of vision. Unfortunately surgery costs upwards of $2600, which is a little out of our reach for us for an animal that otherwise possibly would have ended up on someones dinner table. So we are accepting donations to go towards Jerry's surgery and care afterward. ANYTHING is greatly appreciated and we will keep everyone posted on his condition. Thank you to everyone that is able to help. I have received a-lot of negative feedback in regards to this posting and all I have to say to those people is that I respect your opinion and you should respect mine. I am not trying to take away from people in need all I am trying to do is give an animal that otherwise would have been destined for slaughter a better quality of life.
