What is wrong with people? (Austin)

I have been reading a few of the pro life pro abortion posts that have been put up over the last few days and I am very shocked at the aggresion coming from both sides.

I am 100% pro life, I am VERY pasionate about the pro life movement my heart breaks for the woman who are in such a dark place they think that there only option is to murder there child, my heart breaks for the child that never had a chance to live and to acomplish amazing things, maybe even cure cancer or aids or poverty ( I know the other side of that argument would be what if the child grew up to be a murderer, well we will never know will we because his mother got there first) I cant help but feel pain for the young girl who was raped and then to find out she is pregnant as a resault, I want to hold her and cry with her for that but the child is not to blame for the sin of the rapest and how much more trama will this girl go through when she realises what she has done, she was the victom now as a resault of that she is going to clame a victom of her own, that dose not seem rite to me. Womans clinics are so caught up in the cash flow that comes there way from the business of abortion that they have lost sight of the reason they are there, to help these woman and girls cope with a pregnancy that they were not expecting. I use the term "not expecting" and not "unwanted" because just becuse the birth mother might not want the responsability of raising and nurturing that child dose not mean there are not familys out there that want to adopt that baby, I believe that abortion is a lousy excuess for responsability, abortion is a cop out.

I pray for the salvation of Obama and his "followers" Obama can say till he is blue in the face that he is a Christian but that is just plain flat out ignorance, my favorite saying that I saw on a t-shirt was "Pro-Choice Christians, Giving Christ a bad name since 1973" Pro-Choice Christian is THE oxymoron!
We must pray for our nation starting with the sin of abortion, The second coming of Jesus Christ is coming and all of you out there in Republican land can say all day long that we are not a Chirstian nation, we are a nation of choice ect. ect. ect. but we will ALL be singing a diffrent tune when we see his amazing face..There is coming a day when the fight for LIFE will be worth it, when all the insalts and threts and all the pain and passion we feel for this cause will be worth it when we can look at our savior and say " Lord, we did EVERYTHING that we could to save the lives that belong to you, we fought and we cryed, we tryed to make people understand and see what they were doing was wrong, Lord we tried."

The economy is rebounding, based on what? The stock market? The stock market is nothing but speculation. I'm curious, how is the economy rebounding with all the jobs the economy has been, and still is, shedding? Unemployment is at its highest in over 25 years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Prior to that unemployment had been shrinking, since about the middle of 2003. And according to that bastion of conservative fearmongering, CNN, the economy has shed over 2,000,000 jobs. Here's some more cheery info from CNN, granted it's from April '09 but the economy hasn't gotten any better since then, in fact it's gotten worse.http://money.cnn.com/2009/04/03/news/economy/jobs_march/index.htm And more from CNN, "To put the three-month loss in context, if no more jobs are lost over the next nine months, 2009 would still be the fourth worst year for job losses since the government started tracking the number of workers in 1939." 78701 apparently has forgotten that prior to the election in 06, when the house and senate passed to the democrats, the economy was in great shape. The stock market he is so eager to use as an example now, was at the highest point in history before the dem's took over in 07. Inflation was minimal, the country was being protected and employment was the lowest percentage of unemployed that any country could wish for.
Then we turned the house and senate over to the democrats and elected a community organizer whose only qualifications were scamming money off the tax payers.

The point, smart guy, is that welfare is SUPPOSED to be a hand up, not a handout. When people use it as a way to subsist so they can 'smoke weed' there is no need for them to receive that hand up. They're not interested in moving up, just subsisting on someone else's money. Therefore, as long as they receive money from the government, they should have to play by certain rules. Obeying the law would be one of those rules. I'm not interested in debating the societal costs of booze vs. cannabis because I, too, believe alcohol is more destructive. But, it is legal. This goes back to that obeying the law thing, smart guy. This is a country where we live by the rule of law and not some tyrant's decree. If you don't like the law, work to have it changed. As far as my idea to fix the economy and healthcare? Well, competition is the answer my friend. Competition between small businesses and competition between insurance companies. If the insurance companies all have to work harder to get business, etc than it makes the costs lower for other people. As far as what it costs in hospitals, those costs are so high because of the fact that so FEW people actually pay their bills in the first place.

As far as the economy... the government should not have gotten involved in bailing ANYONE out or given ANY type of "stimulus" if they were going to borrow money from the Federal Reserve. All that did was bankrupt the nation. Instead, the loans should have been given to smaller businesses to increase the number of employees that they can hire and possibly increase the wages that are made. Where do we get this money? Well, by cutting the pay of these "elected officials" that we have in office. The way to fix the economy is to create more consumers and more jobs.. not create more construction companies and a private security force, etc. :)

A preemptive strike to stop amnesty from becoming law is in the works.

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) is calling on the immigration enforcement movement to team up with the Taxpayer Tea Party and 9/12 movements to hold “Tea Parties Against Amnesty” rallies across America on November 14.

“We know that the honest polling data shows over three to one opposition to the Gutierrez Obama Comprehensive Amnesty path to citizenship legislation,” William Gheen of ALIPAC said in a press release referring to Illinois Congressman Luis Gutierrez proposed immigration reform legislation. “ALIPAC stands ready to organize and channel the backlash wave of anger that is coming into peaceful civic action designed to remove many lawmakers who do not serve the wishes or interests of their constituents in 2010!”

Luis V. Gutierrez, D-Ill. is the chairman of the Democratic Caucus Task Force on Immigration. He also introduced the Citizenship Promotion Act with then Senator Obama in 2007. It is a bill which, in part, would give $80 million to community organizers to “organize” the immigrant community to become U.S. citizens with the right to vote.

The “Gutierrez Obama Comprehensive Amnesty” plan, as ALIPAC calls it, made news in October when Gutierrez spoke at an event organized by Reform Immigration FOR America. According to their website, “The Campaign to Reform Immigration for America is, in part, a project of the Tides Advocacy Fund.” The Tides Advocacy Fund “is founded on principles of social justice, broadly shared economic opportunity, a robust democratic process and a sustainable environment.”

The key criteria outlined in Gutierrez’s proposed legislation includes:

A commission to decide appropriate levels of future workers wanting to come to the U.S. This would be instead of a new temporary worker program.

In an email exchange Gheen said that the November 14 rallies were put together rapidly to catch any backlash that would come from Gutierrez if he files his proposed legislation. Gheen made it clear that these upcoming rallies are a precursor, “We plan larger scale operations in the Spring,” he wrote back.

The last time comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens was put forward was in June 2007 under former President George W. Bush. The bill was defeated when the Senate vote fell 14 votes short of the 60 required to move it forward.

While it is no secret that America’s immigration system is broken, and this longstanding system breakdown adversely affects America’s national security and economy, the latest Rasmussen Report shows, “By a 70% to 22% margin, voters say that gaining control of the borders is more important than legalizing the status of undocumented workers already in the country.”

However, despite the wishes of voters, legalizing illegal aliens inevitably seems to become the dominate topic in the immigration debate. It also appears in impending legislation aside from Gutierrez’s proposals. Before President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration, for instance, in January 2009, Vermont’s Senator Patrick Leahy introduced the tough-titled “Stronger Economy, Stronger Borders Act of 2009,” S. 9. However, in Sen. Leahy’s introduction it is revealed that a wall with Mexico should be “reconsidered” because it is a “symbol of fear and intolerance,” and “harsh penalties and more enforcement” are not a realistic solution to address illegal aliens.

Then there is Senator Charles “Chuck” Schumer, a co-sponsor of S. 9, who also serves as the Chairman of the powerful Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees and Border Security. His voting record, documented by Ontheissues.org, suggests he is a staunch illegal aliens advocate.

More evidence that legalizing illegal aliens is on the horizon appears in an October 1 interview in the New York Times with the new director of the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS), Alejandro Mayorkas. Mayorkas said that the agency “is already planning ahead for the possibility of giving legal status to millions of illegal immigrants.”

This all might be good news for amnesty advocates but here is the bad news — which should concern both points of view on this issue. The notion that the USCIS, tasked in part to keep America safe by keeping unscrupulous people out, is a competent agency and therefore will be equipped to process millions of illegal aliens should amnesty become law is fiction and entirely absurd when one examines the USCIS’ record. For starters, America’s $2.6 billion a-year immigration agency amassed a twenty-year backlog of applications under both Democratic and Repubican administrations. It loses files. Even worse, it is riddled with crime and corruption where bribery, be it for money, gifts or sex is part of their record of achievement that has put America’s national security in jeopardy and arguably contributed to the illegal alien problem in the first place. To expect competency from this troubled bureaucracy could prove to be an exercise in self-defeat.

ALIPAC’s mission is to conduct rallies and protests across America. “We hope that these events combined with our lobbying efforts and support for campaigns will stop these attempts to destroy America through mass illegal immigration and amnesty.”

The posting Monday on the Web site for Anwar al Awlaki, who was a spiritual leader at two mosques where three 9/11 hijackers worshipped, said American Muslims who condemned the Fort Hood attack are hypocrites who have committed treason against their religion.

Awlaki said the only way a Muslim can justify serving in the U.S. military is if he intends to "follow in the footsteps of men like Nidal."

"Nidal Hassan (sic) is a hero," Awlaki said. "He is a man of conscience who could not bear living the contradiction of being a Muslim and serving in an army that is fighting against his own people."

Two U.S. intelligence officials told The Associated Press the Web site was Awlaki's. They spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence collection. Awlaki did not immediately respond to an attempt to contact him through the Web site.

Hasan's family attended the Dar al Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Va., where Awlaki was preaching in 2001. Hasan's mother's funeral was held at the mosque on May 31, 2001, according to her obituary in the Roanoke Times newspaper, around the same time two 9/11 hijackers worshipped at the mosque and while Awlaki was preaching.

Awlaki is a native-born U.S. citizen who left the United States in 2002, eventually traveling to Yemen. He was released from a Yemeni jail last year and has since gone missing. He is on Yemen's most wanted militant list, according to three Yemeni security officials.

The officials say Awlaki was arrested in 2006 with a small group of suspected al-Qaida militants in the capital San'a. They say he was released more than a year later after signing a pledge he will not break the law or leave the country. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.

The Falls Church mosque is one of the largest on the East Coast, and thousands of worshippers attend prayers and services there every week.

Imam Johari Abdul-Malik, outreach director at Dar al Hijrah, said he did not know whether Hasan ever attended the mosque but confirmed that the Hasan family participated in services there. Abdul-Malik said the Hasans were not leaders at the mosque and their attendance was normal.

The London Telegraph first reported the potential link between Hasan and the mosque.

Sen. Joe Lieberman said Sunday he wants Congress to determine whether the shootings constitute a terrorist attack and whether warning signs that Hasan was embracing an increasingly extremist view of Islamic ideology were missed.

Classmates who participated in a 2007-2008 master's program at a military college told The Associated Press that they complained to faculty during the program about what they considered to be Hasan's anti-American views, which included his giving a presentation that justified suicide bombing and telling classmates that Islamic law trumped the U.S. Constitution.

"If Hasan was showing signs, saying to people that he had become an Islamist extremist, the U.S. Army has to have zero tolerance," Lieberman, an independent from Connecticut, said on "Fox News Sunday." "He should have been gone."

Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey said Sunday it's important for the country not to get caught up in speculation about Hasan's Muslim faith, and he has instructed his commanders to be on the lookout for anti-Muslim reaction to the killings at the Texas post.

As for America being a Christian nation. I only have facts and history on my side:

The U.S. Constitution is a secular document. It begins, "We the people," and contains no mention of "God" or "Christianity." Its only references to religion are exclusionary, such as, "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust" (Art. VI), and "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" (First Amendment). The presidential oath of office, the only oath detailed in the Constitution, does not contain the phrase "so help me God" or any requirement to swear on a bible (Art. II, Sec. 1, Clause 8). If we are a Christian nation, why doesn't our Constitution say so?

In 1797 America made a treaty with Tripoli, declaring that "the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." This reassurance to Islam was written under Washington's presidency, and approved by the Senate under John Adams.

Alleged shooter tied to mosque of 9/11 hijackers

WASHINGTON — The family of the alleged Fort Hood shooter held his mother's funeral at the same Virginia mosque that two Sept. 11 hijackers attended in 2001, at a time when a radical imam preached there.

Whether the Fort Hood shooter associated with the hijackers is something the FBI will probably look into, according to a law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.

The family of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 and wounding 29 at the Texas military base, held his mother's funeral at the Dar al Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Va., on May 31, 2001, according to her obituary in the Roanoke Times newspaper.

In 2001, Anwar Aulaqi was an imam, or spiritual leader, at the Washington-area mosque. Aulaqi told the FBI in 2001 that, before he moved to Virginia in early 2001, he met with 9/11 hijacker Nawaf al-Hazmi several times in San Diego. Al-Hazmi was at the time living with Khalid al-Mihdhar, another hijacker. Al-Hazmi and another hijacker, Hani Hanjour, attended the Dar al Hijrah mosque in Virginia in early April 2001.

In his FBI interview, Aulaqi denied ever meeting with al-Hazmi and Hanjour while in Virginia.

Aulaqi, a native-born U.S. citizen, left the United States in 2002, eventually traveling to Yemen. He was investigated by the FBI in 1999 and 2000 after it was learned that he may have been contacted by a possible procurement agent for Osama bin Laden. During this investigation, the FBI learned that Aulaqi knew people involved in raising money for Hamas, a Palestinian group on the U.S. State Department's terrorist list.

Imam Johari Abdul-Malik, outreach director at Dar al Hijrah, said he did not know whether Hasan ever attended the mosque but confirmed that the Hasan family participated in services there. Abdul-Malik said the Hasans were not leaders at the mosque and their attendance was utterly normal.

The Falls Church mosque is one of the largest on the East Coast, and thousands of worshippers attend prayers and services there every week. Abdul-Malik said it's a mistake for people to conflate regular attendance at a mosque with extremism.

Many Muslims pray at the mosque multiple times a day, he said. "It's part of family life. It's like going out for ice cream after dinner."

Faizul Khan, former imam of the Muslim Community Center in nearby Silver Spring, Md., where Hasan also worshipped, said he was not aware that Hasan had attended services at Dar al Hijrah but said it would not be unusual for Hasan to attend more than one mosque concurrently.

Khan said he did not recall Hasan mentioning having been taught or preached to by Aulaqi.

The London Telegraph first reported the potential link between Hasan and the mosque.

Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey said Sunday it's important for the country not to get caught up in speculation about Hasan's Muslim faith, and he has instructed his commanders to be on the lookout for anti-Muslim reaction to the killings at the Texas post.

He says focusing on the Islamic roots of the suspected shooter could "heighten the backlash" against all Muslims in the military.

Casey says diversity in the military "gives us strength."

Casey declined to answer questions about the investigation into the shooting, but said evidence to this point shows that Hasan acted alone. He toured Fort Hood on Friday with Army Secretary John McHugh.

Casey appeared on ABC's "This Week" and CNN's "State of the Union."
