Historical European Martial Arts (Columbia, MD)
Maryland Kunst des Fechtens is looking for more training partners in the Columbia, MD area!
We practice what is commonly known as Historical European Martial Arts. More specifically, we practice the martial arts that came out of what was medieval Germany known as Kunst des Fechtens, or the "Art of Fighting". Our main focus is on longsword, but we also cycle through grappling, dagger, sword and buckler, messer, dussack, polearms and early rapier. Training is on Monday 6:30 and 9:00. This does not cost anything beyond gas and equipment, the latter of which we have extras for loaners. The two main practitioners in the group have been at it for 8+ years and 3 years respectively. Be a part of a martial tradition that is being reborn.

We do meringue, salsa, Cuban salsa, cumbia and reggaeton and even a flamenco or tango dance on some nights.

WHAT: An indoor pickup game at Soccerdome II arena. We play almost nonstop for 60 minutes with only very light contact and a lot of opportunity to have all players to learn the midfield, striker, overlapping wing and defensive positions in a freeflowing match. We change teams each time a team scores 3 goals.

About me:
The good part is that I'm have good experience. I played in jr. high, and h.s, and some rec sports in college, and played some competitive indoor for a few years on a co-ed league just after college.
The bad part is that I am now 40. I haven't played in about 5+ years, and I'm sure that it'll show. I got married and never got back into playing soccer. I want to get back into playing co-ed or mens 35+ league.
I want to get back into playing soccer because I loved it so much, but I also want to lose weight and get back into shape. I want to play in a non-competitive or competetive level league ideally. I'm hoping that I can help a team as a defender (or possibly even a goalkeeper) though I played goalie back when I was 10 - I'm game- but perfer sweeper or fullback. Long distance city running with obsticles (Baltimore City)
I run all over Baltimore City, usually between 6-10 miles. However I like to incorperate stairs, walls, railings, trees, etc in as I go as obsticles. This is a much better full body work out and also a lot more fun. Whats really cool is to go with someone else and play follow the leader so that for a while (usually a block) one person improvises obsticles and the follower must do the same things. It is pretty intense and requires a good fitness level, but I have found that if you can run 6 miles in an hour or less you should be good to go. Yes...the title says it all...Looking for College Basketball players...
However, even tho the title says we are looking for Basketball players...this is not for a BBall team, this is for an outdoor flag football team! I have this theory that basketball players are the BEST players to get when building a flag football team, so I am hoping to find some tall, athletic guys who can play receiver and go up and take the ball out of the air and score TDs! I am looking for tall, athletic BBall players that can sit back at Safety and dare QBs to throw deep on them... So if you are tall, and can play....then hit me up!
The league is competitive, but we are just looking for guys that want to have fun. The league is a pretty fun league with a big following.
Anyways, we are looking for VERY FAST WRs and DBs. And if you are tall and you can jump, then DEFINITELY give me a shout! If you are interested at all, please email me...and include any football experience that you have (if any) so we have an idea of what position to play you at. One thing I stress is that we are here to have fun, and this is not the Super Bowl to us. We want to win games, but in the end, we want to have fun! sailing south (Chesapeake)
Hi, I'll be getting ready to head south. Anyone interested in sailing along let me know. I'll be heading toward Norfolk first then on to Florida and Cuba possibly later on. I've got about 10,000 sea miles as a captain, on the liberal side of the spectrum, easy going cruiser style of sailing (not a racer or adrenaline junkie). Looking for a motivated person to start a solid work-out plan. I have a membership to the Hanover YMCA which is very nice, the South Y is even more geared towards adults who are there to work out. (not as many kids running around)
What I'm looking for.....Someone who will show up on agreed upon days, be motivated and willing to help motivate. I'm thinking monday, tuesday,thursday and saturdays. Doesn't have to be those days but I can't do wed's. I have tried working out with my wife in the past, but she's really not one to help push me, nor does she respond well to being pushed. She just likes walking the treadmill....I'm looking for more of a 20-30 min cardio and a good 45min-1hr weight lifting workout. I want to hurt when I leave....that's the pain that feels the best....you know you've done something. Don't get me wrong, I love the wife, but a work out partner she is not.....knowing you have someone meeting you for your workout helps get your ass to the gym.....it's too easy to stay home without that extra motivation...

Several spots are still available for co-ed competitive (but friendly) soccer players for a Pick-Up FUTSAL League set to continue play on Monday Oct. 26 from 6:45-7:15pm. (This abbreviated season has 3 remaining Monday nights: Oct. 26; then again on Nov. 9 & 16th.)
- We hope to continue playing throughout the winter months. Due to lack of gym availabilty, however, we may need to change locations and days after Nov. 16th. Those not familiar with FUTSAL, think indoor soccer, but w/out the dasher boards & turf - or just "court soccer". Futsal is the official FIFA version of indoor soccer & is played 5v5, (either 4 + gk, or if we don't have 'keepers per se, we can just rotate willing people thru) w/a slightly smaller and special low-bounce ball, and 10x6 goals. Basketball court lines used as the boundaries, w/the 3-point arc as the goal box. Futsal is much more about passing, teamwork, & control than size & strength, as there are no shoulder charges or slide tackles allowed. Plus, the low-bounce ball makes controlling it inside & on a court much easier than a normal ball. If you haven't played it already to know - you'll have a great time!
While you certainly don't need to be one of the most amazing players join us & have a blast, some of the best dribblers & creative players in the world actually grew up playing nothing but futsal - including Ronaldinho from Brasil & Leo Messi of Argentina & Barca fame. If you'd like to see some examples of the game try the UEFA.com website, or US Futsal sites, or the easiest way is go to YouTube & type in "futsal" &/or "Falcao" (one of Brasil's star futsal players - incredibly fun to watch!)
Spots available: Very limited! That way everyone will get plenty of playing time!
