General Description: This position will provide initial psychiatric evaluations and ongoing psychiatric consultation for patients admitted to medical and surgical floors of the hospital. In addition, when necessary, consultation services will be provided to the Emergency Department.

Conduct initial evaluations of and ongoing psychiatric treatment for patients with psychiatric or behavioral symptoms who are medically admitted to the hospital. This would include adults experiencing psychiatric disorders or medical conditions which may cause behavioral problems or psychiatric disturbances. There is potential for developing clinical research questions and setting up and running studies within this scope of practice. Referral of patients to appropriate levels of care and facilitating transfer with appropriate communication across disciplines.

 
Qualifications: Master's degree in nursing; Registered Nurse license and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner- Psychiatric Mental Health. Must be licensed as NP in State of Maryland or other state where practicing. Current CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment. Completion of the JHH credentialing process is required prior to start date.

At least two years relevant work experience preferred but not required. Excellent diagnostic skills, as well as skills in ongoing clinical management of patients
