Description
G&B Solutions, Inc., has an opportunity for a Data Center Operations Hardware Technician, Level 4 in Washington, DC:
Must have Sun Solaris experience
Handle incoming calls and system alerts, log and refer the calls and alerts as appropriate, and assist users either in-person, over the phone, or both.
Diagnose causes of PC, server, and printer hardware problems and failures; and repair, replace, and adjust faulty PC, server and printer hardware components.
Perform PC, printer, and server preventive maintenance. Install boards, peripheral devices, new PCs, servers, and printers.
Move, reinstall and configure PCs, servers, printers and other devices while making necessary network connections.
Work with higher-level staff on system hardware and software problems, cable plant expansions, and cable plant documentation.
Provide technical support for stand-alone and network printers, including high capacity, high speed printers.
As required, inventory user equipment and accessories, send and receive replacement computers and /parts, and update the database to reflect the status and resolution of user problems.
Organize, install and maintain server cabinets and network racks (this includes network cabling, power, and KVMs).
Organize, install and maintain cabling for cable plants and data centers (this includes network cabling, power, and KVMs).
Document and label data centers, server cabinets, network racks, and cabling.
Prepare and provide directions/overviews of equipment setup procedures to other staff.
Perform basic network setup tasks that include switch installation and configuration.
Perform basic network troubleshooting tasks that include: network cable testing, cable repair, layer-2 network testing, and packet capture tools.
Prepare technical reports or documentation for basic network maintenance and improvements.
Requirements
Must have Sun Solaris experience
At least (2) years experience in customer and user service, either in person, over the phone, or both.
At least four (4) years experience with Microsoft Windows client operating systems.
At least three (4) years experience with Sun Solaris operating system
At least three (3) years experience with commercial office automation software.
At least four (4) years experience in network operations and support. At least one (1) of these years must have been spent supporting a LAN with a minimum of 500 nodes.
At least three (3) years experience in diagnosing and resolving PC, server, and printer problems.
Experience with Dell workstations and laptops, HP and Compaq servers, Sun servers, and Hewlett-Packard printers.
At least three (3) years experience configuring and installing network switches.

Boxing Clinic/Space Needed (near Columbia)
I am considering in starting a 3 month boxing clinic for up to a maximum of 15 clients, and need a space large enough to lease for a 3 month period. This would not necessarily be a cardio boxing class, but endurance is required. The class has to be kept to a minimum so that I could teach boxing in a more technical sense. This is not to be confused with kick boxing, but strictly the "sweet science." The reason for the 3 month session is to allow beginners to progress, and for intermediates and advanced, to hone their skills further. This is a lot of fun, and I've held many clinics in the past in Florida. I was licensed under the Florida State Boxing Commission and USA Boxing Organization. Currently, I am still affiliated with USA Boxing Organization, which is a lot more important. I will not be teaching competitive boxing. This would be strictly recreational. I can offer a lot more information regarding the sessions if you e-mail me directly. Right now, I am trying to locate an affordable space so I could charge accordingly. These sessions would meet twice a week (one during a weeknight and the other on Saturday midday).
