4. Assists clinical investigator with study initiation, conduction, and completion by:
• Communicating with the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
• Confirming appropriateness of drug doses in accordance with protocols.
• Acting as a consultant to members of the health care team.
• Communicating treatment modifications and amendments to faculty and staff.
• Preparing study results for presentation and/or publication.

5. Prepares and responds to audits conducted by study sponsors and IRB.

6. May represent the division at research and protocol initiation meetings.

7. May attend and participate in various in-service and external trainings, workshops, conferences
and other relevant programs for professional growth and development.

8. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the
patients served on the assigned unit. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and
development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's
requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and provides the care needed as described
in the unit/area/department policies and procedures.

9. Performs all other related duties as required.


III. Qualifications

1. Job Description of a Research Technician:
• Applicant is responsible for performing a wide variety of research laboratory tasks and
experiments, making detailed observations, analyzing data, and interpreting results.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies. The primary
responsibilities will be the participation in ongoing research projects e.g. tissue harvesting and
drug dosing to small rodents, managing animal colonies e.g. animal husbandry and
genotyping, and general lab maintenance.
• A basic understanding of genomics and proteomics, e.g. PCR and western blot is preferred.
Experience handling and injecting mice and rats are strongly preferred.
• May also write reports, summaries, and protocols regarding experiments.

2. Education: BS degree or equivalent with 1 year experience.

3. Work hours: Monday thru Friday – 9:00 am – 5:00pm with a 30 minute lunch.
