This is really bugging me. I STILL hear people talking about how wonderful Obama is. Are they truely serious???? I mean look around! Granted most of the crap we are dealing with is as a result of bad decisions made in the past, however... if Obama gets this health care bill passed we are ALL screwed! If you get cancer, you can kiss your ass goodbye... if you need an operation to save your life, you can kiss your ass goodbye. Nobody will be ok with this, well, the wealthy will be but how much of the American population does that include?!

I was raised as a democrat, the majority of my family was democrats but since Obama was put into office... we now think democrats are full of s**t. I am fearing what is truely going to come in these next few years.

Democracy Versus Republic Know your Government (Baltimore)

Democracy Versus Republic
These succinct definitions of what is Democracy and what is a Republic was produced by the US Army in 1928, These definitions have been quietly withdrawn since, soon after.

Democracy:

A government of the masses.

Authority derived through mass meeting or any other form of "direct" expression.

Results in mobocracy.

Attitude toward property is comunistic-negating property rights.

Attitude toward law is that the will of the majority shall regulate. whether it be based upon deliberation or governed by passion, prejudice, and impulse, without restraint or regard to consequences.

Results in demagogism license, agitation, discontent, anarchy.

Democracy is the "direct" rule of the people and has been repeatedly tried without success.

A certain Professor Alexander Fraser Tytler, nearly two centuries ago, had this to say about Democracy: " A Democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of Government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largess out of public treasury. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that Democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal policy, always to be followed by a Dictatorship."

A democracy is majority rule and is destructive of liberty because there is no law to prevent the majority from trampling on individual rights. Whatever the majority says goes! A lynch mob is an example of pure democracy in action. There is only one dissenting vote, and that is cast by the person at the end of the rope.

Republic:

Authority is derived through the election by the people of public officials best fitted to represent them.

Attitude toward property is respect for laws and individual rights, and a sensible economic procedure.

Attitude toward law is the administration of justice in accord with fixed principles and established evidence, with a strict regard to consequences.

A greater number of citizens and extent of territory may be brought within its compass.

Avoids the dangerous extreme of either tyranny or mobocracy. Results in statesmanship, liberty, reason, justice, contentment, and progress.

Is the "standard form" of government throughout the world.

A republic is a form of government under a constitution which provides for the election of:

an executive and

a legislative body, who working together in a representative capacity, have all the power of appointment, all power of legislation all power to raise revenue and appropriate expenditures, and are required to create

a judiciary to pass upon the justice and legality of their governmental acts and to recognize

certain inherent individual rights.

Take away any one or more of those four elements and you are drifting into autocracy. Add one or more to those four elements and you are drifting into democracy.

Our Constitutional fathers, familiar with the strength and weakness of both autocracy and democracy, with fixed principles definitely in mind, defined a representative republican form of government. They "made a very marked distinction between a republic and a democracy and said repeatedly and emphatically that they had founded a republic."

A republic is a government of law under a Constitution. The Constitution holds the government in check and prevents the majority (acting through their government) from violating the rights of the individual. Under this system of government a lynch mob is illegal. The suspected criminal cannot be denied his right to a fair trial even if a majority of the citizenry demands otherwise.

This can easily be you or a love one. Too many of us are being treated inhumane,
caged like animals and handled like live stock.
For the past 23 years our federal government chose to prosecute a low level crack
dealer 50 grams of crack cocaine as if it was 500 grams of powder cocaine.
A 100 to 1 ratio. When in all actuality crack is no powerful than cocaine. Scientist have
proven this and the government knows this. But no change is being made.
If a person snorts heroin or he or she decides to turn it into a liquid form and inject it
by syringe. Isn't he or she still using heroin. No matter what form it is. The same should
apply for crack. So why are the penalties different? Can it be racism? Is the government
targeting blacks and Hispanics? How can we prove racism? Do facts speak the truth?
Are numbers facts? Well, if so the numbers say 83% of crack dealers are black and Hispanics.
Is it possible that the government had this figured out before they strategically passed this 100
to 1 law. How many of your law congress members are white compared to blacks. Once again
numbers speak the truth. Congress has the power to make this much needed change. It's only
fair to do so. The injustice has been targeted and homes have been destroyed. Elderly
grandparents are being forced to raise grand kids. Children are suffering without their parents.
Too many black men and women have been lost in the prison system for decade. Too many sons
and daughters have been raised in broken homes to repeat the process because our government
decided to over crowd the prison system with petty dealers. Instead of rehabilitating and reforming
our people. The crime does not fit the punishment. Yes, one should be punished for their crime. Incarcerating
one for decades for a non-violent does not add up. America it is time to right this wrong to all victims
of this Injustice. 10 to 20 years is an eternity for a nonviolent crime. Is America only for giving one
chance?
How can justice be so unjust!
Let your voice be heard, don't continue to over look this, contact your congress member about fixing
this injustice.
Write your state representative in reference in asking for support in passing bill H.R.18: Powder Crack Cocaine Penalty Equalization Act 2009.
Family's you must become proactive there has been over 15 similar bills that have been thrown out. Please don't allow this bill to go the same.

This is a different issue. This was done to benefit large corporations. A tactic to shelter income from the USA IRS. The motivation is the Politician receives big money from these
Corps as contributions to run for re-election. So the politician passes laws to benefit them. That's why a law needs to be passed so corps can't do that through contributions.
The same for health care a corp. is run to make a profit.

You are correct Profits are not evil this is a Capitalist country. What was evil was the outsourcing of job in the cotton mills and clothing industry allowing the business owners to continue to profit while the workers went jobless. Business owners bought steel from China, and there went Bethlehem Steel. Slowly but surely amost all of the manufacturing jobs went first to Mexico, then to Asia. Where are our medicines made? And so on and so on. and as this went on, where were we? why have we allowed cheap products from abroad destroy our economy? The Recession/Depression is not just from mortgage manipulation. When jobs are outsourced, and workers were laid off, of course payments won't be made. When The Health Insurance Industry pays it's leaders millions, it is no wonder that they don't want to take from their profits in the billions to pay our medical bills that we bought insurance to help us in when we were injured or ill.

Profits are not inherently evil. Lying, Stealing. Cheating, Manipulating in order to have more profit is evil. When willing workers can't find factory work, then we all suffer in the long run. The taxes that willing workers pay, while often misspent, take care of our infrastructure, pay for our teachers, fire fighters, police, and the military. Less people working = less taxes paid. Less taxes paid = less services. The Federal Government can't give as much money to the states, the states can't give to the counties. And that is our vicious cycle. We need to manufacture things in this country or we will continue our slide downward and only be big in physical size.

Christian law or Muslim law? We live under US law and the laws of the state and city you live in. Ther isn't any Christian or Muslim law here. The US is not a Christian nation. Never was never will be nor will it ever be a Muslim nation. If you want tolive in a country where the majority religion sets the laws then go live in Iran. That is a poerfect example of how things are in a country that proclaims a religious underpinning to society.
Global warming is real, the only questions are regarding just how much human activity casues it.
Cap and Trade is an attempt to give incentive for efficient use of energy resources. Nothing more.
If Health Insurance companies and our Health care system was so great we wouldn't be having this whole health care reform issue. The greed of the health insurnace companies are the reason we have to have reform. All western industrial societies have versions of national health care and they live longer then we do and the majority of their citizens prefer what they have over what we have. They don't understand why we are so backwards about providing health care.
The main reason Obama got the Nobel prize is because the world was so happy to be rid of Bush and finally have an intelligent President who understands that we need the world as much as they need us and is interested in real diplomacy.
As this recession is coming to an end we should start to see job growth within 6 months from now. Lets hope that you are not one of them getting a job.

- Government contractors like Kellogg Brown and Root Services with no-bid contracts who did a rip-off in Iraq that electrocuted our own soldiers to death
- Bailed-out Banker Swindlers who promised home finance deals that they knew were unrealistic for the common person, and got paid bonuses from management/shareholders to keep doing it
