Hello :) (Bossier City)

I sort-of want to add to the post about being kind anyway, even when others aren't. I believe in loving others to the point that you can accept others no matter what. You feel more self worth loving those who are not like you, instead of hating those who are not like you. You don't always have to like how they act, but be kind ANYWAY. It works for me. Not saying be a doormat... Avoid those who bring you down. Confront only if you must. Ignore the small stuff.

I also think you should accept others for who they are, not try to change others to suit what you think they should be. If they are mellow when you think they should be enthusiastic--ACCEPT IT. If they celebrate things that you don't or if they don't celebrate things that you do--who cares? If they like things that you don't, live and let live. Why complain about the things others enjoy? I've seen so many people hate things just because others like it a lot. I find that so strange.

Be happy. I know sometimes holidays get people down. Some people also have that Seasonal Effective Disorder. I hope that you can get through it this year. :)

What happened to Thanksgiving? (EVERYWHERE)

I went out tonight (friday night) to go eat on the boardwalk. The traffic was so horrible we went somewhere else. On the way, I saw sooooo many Christmas lights up on businesses and houses already! What the hell happened to Thanksgiving? Can't we have that holiday before we start thinking Christmas. It seems every year Thanksgiving is passed by all the time. In our house hold we have Thanksgiving and then that weekend we put up the Christmas decorations. Be thankful for what you have now, not what you don't or what you wish you had. Life is too short so live life daily and happy. Be thankful you have your life instead of griping you have little money. What does a stack of money do if you're not healthy or around. BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER. QUIT HATING PEOPLE OR SAYING BAD THINGS TO THEM. THINK OF YOURSELF IN THEIR SHOES.

Need a Good Hairstylist (Shreve/Bossier)

I'm not sure where to post so I'm posting in different places. I'm
a guy with long hair. I've decided to get it cut short. I haven't had

rant and a whine (south highlands elem school)

I went to the christmas sale at south highland elem school thur night. there was a sale of christmas ornaments donated to them from the Norton Art Gallery.
it is to run friday and sat this week.
AND tonight there was a preview sale starting at 7pm. cost $5.00/ it was called Moms and Mistletoe Preview Party. That ment 'NO MEN ALLOWED'
The article in the paper did not say that or even suggest that it was a Mom event at all. I stood in line for less than a minute and had cash in hand to go in. I wasnt allowed in. Because I am a man.
I cant make the next two days sales times, since I will be at work, and i really did want to go in and see and remember the ornaments from years past.
SO I came home, I mean I can see a lost cause. AND they did not get my money that I really wanted to spend there tonight.
I was to get some of these as a gift for a friend who collects Disney & Charlie Brown.
And since I have now had my rant and whine about this, I guess I am over it.

LOOK AT THIS HEADLINE......(Couple Busted for Refusing to Pay Tip).....I read this story and it is totally ridiculous. There were 6 people so the 18% gratuity automatically applied. BUT...the service was horrible. Waited an hour for their order, had to get their own napkins and silverware, and refills. NOW that is not worth a tip. Instead of working something out with the customers they called the police and they were charge for theft!!! THEFT!!! a tip is NOT a mandatory thing!!! I know how they feel.....let me explain....

I had a wedding rehearsal dinner at a nice restaurant and there were 10 of us. They put the mandatory tip on there but like the lady I described....our waitress never came around, we had to get our own drinks and ask for things constantly. I had it out with the owner. He tried to make me pay it despite the service. I told him that mandatory gratuity should not be allowed because the waitress knows she's going to get it, therefore they treat you like shit!!! I told the owner if he didn't let me go with an incident I would gladly let the other customers know about how rude and disrespectful my waitress was and the owner doesn't care. He let me leave then.

I thought we were a FREE country. The right to do and say pretty much what we want as long as legal and respectful. I just read this morning how people are having to fight to hang their laundry outside to dry. Does anyone know how much more their electric bill is with a dryer? On good days, there is nothing wrong with hanging clothes out to dry. Let me show you how many states are making problems.....

Dum ass job interview (shreveport (chiropractic))

ok I took courses in med office assistant and med terminology so I could get a job doing just that a medical secretary basically so I went into a certain chiropractic office for a group interview .... first thing that fat ass chick said was "If your here for a paycheck every two weeks you can get out because I don't want you here " and in my head I was like ok harsh she is passionate about her receptionists job lol so all through the interview she is declaring that this doctor is a miracle worker and you don't need medicines, or surgery and they have actually found a cure for cancer and blah blah oh yea and how she left a 6 figure job to become this chiropractors assistant which was NOT a 6 figure job ....BULLSHIT and so she starts telling us about the history of the newly built office lol and how popular they are and how his patients are incredible and some of the requirements of this job are: You have to physically bring in a possible new patient every month which means you find some random person and ask them if they would like to come with you to your job too see if they need a chiropractor. Yea fukin stupid and its mandatory!! if your so fukin popular get your own damn patients !! Im not gna work when i fukin get off work.and you have to pray with the people that come in!! and finally as we were walking out the door she said if you do not send your resume to me you will not get a private interview!! so of course i didnt send in mine but low and behold i get an email one day asking if i could come in for an interview ...i declined

Crime Statistics in Black & White (Shreveport)

I had a little time on my hands and did a little review for existing outstanding warrents for criminals in the Shreveport area. Here is what I gleaned:

There are 482 warrents out right now for local thugs and fugitives broken down into three basic catagories; Simple Battery, Domestic Abuse Battery and criminal property damage.

And the winners are:

Black Males: Accounted for 67% of all crimes, 72% of all battery related crimes and 40% of all property related crimes
Black Females: Accounted for 17% of all crimes, 11% of all battery related crimes and 38% of all property related crimes
White Males: Accounted for 14% of all crimes, 13% of all battery related crimes and 17% of all property related crimes
White Females: Accounted for 4% of all crimes,3.6% of all battery related crimes and .05% of all property related crimes.

Black Males are into kicking ass! They accounted for 220 simple battery citations and 74 domestic abuse citations or 72% of all battery related crime. They also like to tear up things accounting for 40% of all property damage with black females close behind at 38% of all property damage occurances.

White Males trail considerably as do white females. White males accounted for 13% of all battery related crime just out pacing black females at 11% of battery related crimes. White females accounted for only 3.6% of all battery related crime and only .05% of all property related crime.

What does this tell us? Well you are more than likely to get into a fight with a black male or female than a white male or female. Black males and females take out their aggression on property by a factor of 3 to 1 as opposed to whites. Domestic Abuse is dominated by black males as is just simple battery. Out of 87 occurances of reported domestic abuse 74 or 85% are perpetrated by black males. White males only had 11 occurances and there were only 2 occurances for black females and no occurances of white females cited with domestic abuse.

This data was gathered from the Shreveport Police booking records as outstanding warrents for the listed violations. You can get each person's name from the Inquisitor or by going to the SPD booking data base.

I think this speaks volumes upon why there is such a problem with race relations. It is obvious when it comes to disagreements, a black man will take physical actions against someone rather than reasoning out the situation. Maybe its an environmental situation or maybe its just not being raised right. I guess when kids see their momma's man beat the hell out of her or see her beat the hell out of him they grow up thinking its ok just to whale on someone if you don't get your way. I could be wrong but the statistics are tending to prove me right.

Someone will just come on here and say I have not done enough sampleing but I challenge them to find evidence to the contrary. I think if someone decided to check the data for a year here the statistics might even bear out a greater trend than what I've found.

What gets me is these people are "WANTED" by police! We have close to 500 violent criminals wandering our streets just looking to find more trouble! I wonder if we posted a price on their heads we might just get a few of these thugs off the street. But this is not the case for now. I would just recommend a brief examination of the warrent list for anyone who cares to see if you can identify where these thugs are and have them arrested for all our sakes.

BLACK FRIDAY TO ALL STORES (ALL OVER/EVERYWHERE)

I have read that the Walmart's here are thinking of a new task of Black Friday due to last year's death. MAY HE REST IN PEACE....
ANYONE THAT WORKS FOR A WALMART OR STORE THAT IS HAVING THIS BLACK FRIDAY PLEASE READ ON......THIS WORKS GREAT.
I am from Texas and we had a stampede but thank the Lord no one got hurt. It was horrible and disrespectful how these greedy idiots pushed people (even with kids) to get a deal. SOOOOO.....Our Walmart the next year let EVERYONE in the store no matter what. You got to look around to see the deals and prices before shopping. Let me explain how they did it. Walmart put out the merchandise BUT it was on pallets and wrapped with a plastic wrap (like saran wrap) and NO ONE was allowed to touch it until the worker at each one was aloud to cut it open!!! This worked soooo much better and NO ONE rushed in as the doors were open, just couldn't get the merchandise until 6am.

ALL those that would like to get more than one thing but can't get to the spots all alone. If you come with friends or family you "plan" it out. You figure out what you want and you spread your friends or family at different sites. Then you get more than you normally would...lol My husband and I take walkie talkie's and let each other know that we got what we came for and then tell the other where to go next instead of trying to find one another. WORKS WONDERS....LOL

You know, one thing I have begun to notice is that there seems to be a swelling rank of these types of "needy" people. Ungratefull users...they pose as friends- you do the "right" thing and get your teeth kicked in.
I am sick of helping "friends" only to find out a simple SINCERE thank you is to much effort on their part. I am no Saint...nothing special by any means, but, in the past, when someone has helped me I was GRATEFULL and was very vocal about it. In addition, I would have never dreamed of "pushing" it...begging for more- Hell, EXPECTING more!
You know what else? I remember everytime somebody helped me- no matter how small. Could have been some random act of kindness- does not matter...I remember them. I get this feeling that these days, no one remembers you for what you did. Once you are tapped out, you are forgotten.

As for the dinner party...huhmm...sounds familiar. "Friends" that need help. You say no to this outrage and it will be the last time you ever hear from this person. It will be all YOUR fault- thats the way these users deal with people. The primary reason I would have said no is simply the fact that you can now say for certian this is NOT a friend. Definitly, cut your loses and run, run far far away from these people. I believe the old saying is "no good deed goes unpunished" It has happened to my family. Took a coworker in who was going through a divorce and needed a place to stay for a couple of days until they found a place to live. Well long story short it turned into 7 weeks and the person never once contributed to bills, food or anything. We had to put our foot down, gave them an unltimatum and told them we thought xxxx.xx$ was sufficent for staying or invaiding us for this long. Within 2 days the person was out, and we had our money and no longer communicate with this person. No love lost here.
So before you get in too deep cut bait and run! I know from experience. People as a whole are not all ungreatfull, just most I come in contact with!!

Interestingly enough, I have spent considerable time in Canada. It is a great country that is very similar to the USA. The main difference is that they have a MUCH lower crime rate, people do not litter as much, and they have a universal health care system. Their quality of life is ranked higher than ours.
I never said anything negative about the USA. I love it here. I just wished for someone to explain why people insist on saying it is THE best. Obviously you have no real answer.

Shreveport pets (everywhere)

I moved to Shreveport last spring, and I don't understand people's relationships with their pets here. Why do so many people leave their dogs on a chain in the yard? Why even bother having a dog if it never comes in the house? I see a lot of people doing this, and I think it's really depressing. Dogs are social animals and need the companionship of their masters or other dogs in order to be mentally healthy. Additionally, dogs who spend the majority of their time on chains are more apt to become aggressive and territorial (this is NOT the same thing as being a good guard dog!).

I've heard that keeping your dog outside is "a Southern thing," but it seems more like "a cruel thing" to me. Dogs are companions, not lawn ornaments. They want nothing more than to be around you. If you keep your dog outside because he is destructive, crate training is a tried-and-true alternative--it protects your dog from the elements and keeps him safe from passing cars and possible theft (if you have a desirable breed). Keeping your dog inside also cuts down his risk of heartworms (which are transmitted through mosquito bites). It's fatal if left untreated, and treatment itself is extremely expensive.

Next, I've also found a lot of stray dogs and cats roaming my neighborhood with collars on, but no ID tags! What is that about? You obviously care enough about your dog to give him a collar, but then don't bother to put a tag on it (seriously people, they cost like $6 and take 5 minutes to make). If nothing else, at least put a rabies tag on him or her. The vet gives them to you when your vet is vaccinated, and it has an ID number on it that can be traced back to your dog or cat. Plus, it's ILLEGAL for your dog or cat NOT to have a rabies license.

ID tags can save you a lot of time and heartache if your pet is lost or runs away. Please, for the sake of your animal, make the small investment. It's so easy to be a responsible pet owner. You've already got a collar for him--go the extra mile and get him a damned tag! And for the love of God, take him out of the backyard and into the house. He will be so much happier for it.

I am also from the north. I've been here for 16 yrs now and at first I hated it but I've learned to avoid those who annoy me. The main thing I have noticed is that people think they can tell all about a person right away without knowing them. They assume too much and they *must* know right away whether they are going to love you or hate you. I hate that.

I can't say too much about southerners in general. I have met some pretty nice people here. I am raising 4 kids, so they are considered 'southern'. I teach them respect, consideration and how to care about other people. I'm pretty much a hermit, but I have my family. I can't imagine what it would be like to be here without them. I'd probably go home. Southern people are not more hospitable or polite than anyone else in the world. It's just something they say about themselves to feel good, I guess.

These children have now been raised in a lifestyle where they had to take what they needed, not ask, and never expect to be considerate of anyone else. They grew up to be callous and rude, and that's how they are now. You're taxed out of your hard earned money for these welfare checks.

Reason I do not go to Sonic (tx)

The whole tip thing is the reason I do not go to Sonic. I am always annoyed by the fact that I am expected to give a tip to the sullen, snot nose brat that brings me food. All I am usually served is attitude along with marginal food. Oh boy...and I get to sit in my car and eat it too! If I gotta' go pee I have to go next door to the gas station.

Heres a tip for you all that work at Sonic...say HI! Act like you kinda' sorta' don't mind your job and that I am not some nasty, unremarkable old dude. Saying "have a great day" goes a long way in making me not feel like I was simply shook down for the buck tip on the 2 buck shake.

Does anyone here check out the Free ads. I love to see what people are giving away for free. I have gotten a couch from CL that was free. Very nice couch the girl was moving and could not take with her. What I am going to briefly rant about here is the fact that people go on the "Free" ads and put on there that they want stuff for free. One person is looking for a car. Are you kidding me? You want a free car...lol! People have some nerve. Then you get on here and someone is begging for tips at Sonic. I always go through the drive thru at Sonic but even if I did not it is your job to bring me my food. That is the career path you have chosen live with it or get a different job. People give me a break!!!

YOU HAVE GROUNDS FOR A SUIT AGAINST THE COMPANY AND PROBABLY THE INTERVIEWER. I strongly suggest you at least contact the La. Dept of Labor and describe the experience to them. It won't cost you anything and it may well provide a settlement with funds you could apply toward furthering your education.

Well, I went to the Sonic you mentioned, just the other day (the one near Best Buy). I went through the drive-thru and ended up watching my finished order just sit inside while the teenage carhops flirted back and forth with one another. After about 5 minutes I told myself one more minute then I'm leaving. Well, 30 seconds into that minute, the female manager grabbed my order and brought it to me and apologized for the wait... and gave me my order for FREE! That's customer service! As a result, if I'm in the area and want Sonic, I will give them another chance thanks to that manager. It usually takes 3 strikes for me... the Churches Chicken on Airline Dr. has already struck-out (T......O......O----------S......L......O......W)!

I dont think carhops should get a tip unless the customer feels like it. I dont mind tipping someone who is pleasant and provides courteous service. I know they could probably use it. But I have had a carhop at the Barksdale Hwy Sonic, in front of Brookshires at Jimmy Davis, ask me if I wanted my change back. Thought it was kind of tacky. I have been going to Sonic since I was a teenager and I am now 44. This is the ONLY Sonic that has ever asked for a tip. People, dont ASK for a tip. More than likely you will not get it. Treat the customers with respect and give them great service and you may get one. It should not be expected. If you want tips, work at a restaurant with seating, ie, Olive Garden, Macaroni Grill, Ernest Supper Club, etc. Why should carhops get a tip and employees of other fast food restaurants not? You need to think about it. Oh, someone made a comment about the Sonic at Youree next to MacAlisters in front of the Best Buy. I agree. Very rude people, including the manager. She was too busy to take our order because of all the "carts," thats what she called it, that she had. There were only 4 cars there. I told her never mind since we were a bother and promptly left. Customer service people. Customer service. Alot of people have forgotten what that is.

My strange job interview...

All I have to say is, I was being interviewed today by a male (I am a female) and he was going through a series of seemingly normal interview questions when all of a sudden he asked me "Are you a lesbian?" He was dead serious and if I had said yes he made it clear I wouldn't have gotten the job. I DID get the job, but I will NOT be showing up for training because that's just weird.

I did work at sonic and we DID make min wage plus tips, and workers would often come in cursing bc they only got 1 or 2 dollars in tips, which is crazy bc tips are totally voluntary of the customer. You are not a WAITRESS when you work at sonic, you are a fast food employee who works for min wage. Anything else is just a plus. I am now a REAL waitress and the fact that you compare a sonic car hop job to what i do on a daily basis is offensive. As someone who has worked at both trying to get through college, I am stating clearly you are not a server you are a fast food employee, there's a big difference. Don't flatter yourself.

its not that they will learn anything if we all cancel the subscriptions.
what is needed is an alt daily paper -this was something we had when the Journal was being printed.
I am not sure what else is needed, but I think that the upper management could use a shake up. too.
there is some things in the local paper that is good.
And I would like to have more choices of newspapers to buy and read. there is something nice about holding the paper
while you read it, that cant be experienced when you read the paper on line.
there is no local news stand any more in shreveport so, there is not a large selection of newspapers
to purchase and read.
A few of the larger bookstores sells a few daily papers. but if you want to read any paper of importance or for pleasure, you need to go
to the public library. AND HO-RAY FOR THE LIBRARY!!

so glad some one wrote about our newspaper,if you listen to the news at night or read yahoo.com in the morning you have read our whole newspaper.
a town this size and the newspaper is no bigger than a small town paper.never any local news unless it is 3 days old and they have saw it on tv so they can write about it.

First of all I have gone to Sonic since "I" was in High School. I am now 44 and NEVER heard about tipping someone just bringing me a bag of food to my window, which is the type of establishment you have. That's not my fault. IF it doesn't require major tips like a restaurant then YOU are screwing YOUR workers out of a minimum wage income. I'd report you.
Second....I just went to the sonic by my house off E Kings Hwy and Youree Drive.....I will NEVER go back there again. One morning I went to order a simple breakfast burrito....didn't even park....no one in front of me either. I get approached by the dingy ass so called waitress you say and she asked me "did you order 2 lime-aids"? WTF.....that is her job to know which car ordered what. It was for 2 cars behind me.....I told her it doesn't take 20 min to make a simple burrito and I was leaving. She smarts off and says "oh well"!!! AND YOU WANT ME TO TIP THAT???? I DON'T THINK SO....THAT SONIC HAS THE RUDEST WORKERS THERE. I do NOT tip to rude and disrespectful wait staff including at a restaurant. You treat me good and then I tip good.
When I was a waitress at a young age I was pulling $5 tips off of couples. That's because I treated them as if I wanted to be treated. They NEVER had to ask for anything, not even a refill on their drink. I paid attention to the meals and brought what belonged to the meal....Ketchup, steak sauce, butter, steak knife, etc.

DO NOT COME ON HERE AND DEMAND US TO "TIP" CRAP!!! WHEN YOU TEACH YOUR WORKERS TO BE BETTER WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS AND NOT ACT LIKE THEY DON'T WANT TO WORK....THEN MAYBE I WILL THINK ABOUT IT. YOU HAVE TO "EARN" THE TIP!!!

You should tip the sonic carhops. Although a friend of mine had a son who worked as a carhop at sonic and was paid min. wage plus tips. I dont know if it is the same for all of them. If you dont want to tip, take your butt in the drive through or go somewhere else. I purposely go to the drive through so I dont feel guilty about tips. However, if I do have it brought out to me, I tip. You no-tippers are most likely terrible tippers where ever you go. Have some decency and help these young kids out that are trying to earn extra money and not having kids, doing drugs, and living off of our taxes. That should be incentive enough.

just letting people know that the carhops at sonic r supoosed to be tipped. they make less than minumum wage because they r waitresses and waiters. that is the only way they make money is throught the tips. and stop parking so far away from the main door when we are empty, you'll get yr food faster if we dont have to walk to the other end of the lot. thanx

Ha ha, but it's true. Let's say the city got a grant to build, place and cover new seating arrangements at most of the bus stops - sure, some neighborhoods would hound and monitor thier precious little bus stops seats and not a nary mark would ever be found on its surface until some puckered little old bat rips a big ass run in her thick ass stockings on a splinter on the edge of the bench. Let's say a construction worker was sitting besides her and heard the wail of discontent in her voice ... do you know what he would do? This is my post, let me tell you. He would bash the back side of the bench and place a big ole whopping hole in it so that anyone leaning back on it would fall right through and knock themselves totally senseless on the concrete. Everybody would laugh, including you - and that ain't even funny.

Personally I prefer the poor little ole people waiting on the bus to be of an artiistic nature. I've come to love the smell of black marker and find it no longer a challenge to distguish between the harsh, or sometimes flavored scents of red and green Sharpees. I feel right at home when I hear the steady pounding of a derogatory sticker being smashed onto the surface, and the rhythemetic scratching of knife to wooden bench -whew, it just takes my breath away just before I throw up from watching all them city slickers sitting in a row like ducks on one little funky bus seat.

I think I might just donate a bunch of milk crates and umbrellas, I bet you people can figure out what to do with them in the rain. In the meantime they can just get soaking wet, drenched, you might call it for not bothering to Ask Jeeves the state of the weather before going out. Now, there!
