Manager of Tax Reporting (Houston)

Overview: Plan and direct tax reporting functions; adhere to tax compliance procedures; execute strategies to minimize tax liability; and direct the work of professional and clerical staff.


Responsibilities: Direct the preparation, review and submission of relevant tax returns, reports and surveys for a variety of jurisdictions. Coordinate internal and external examinations of tax filings, implement and adhere to tax compliance controls and processes and develop and adhere to tax reporting schedule for related organizations and subunits. Educate leadership regarding relevant tax issues to ensure and improve organizational tax compliance. Coordinate training activities for staff; assume an active role in management team meetings, assigned hospital committees and activities; and assist in decision-making process for departmental issues. Ensure ongoing development and review of departmental policies and procedures, monitor progress and review changes.

Required Skills:
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and non-profit tax regulations required. The ability to use a computerized financial system, word processing, spreadsheets, ten-key by touch, communicate effectively verbally and in writing with subordinates, executive level and departmental management and governmental authorities. Also requires tactical planning skills, attention to detail, time management skills and conflict resolution skills.


Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with CPA. A minimum of five (5) years experience in public or operational accounting, with experience preparing state and federal tax returns required. Prior supervisory experience preferred.
