The primary challenges of this position include:
 • Improving and enhancing the College’s preparedness to respond to major campus-wide emergencies and incidents.
• Ensuring the campus remains a safe environment during the period of redevelopment and expansion and that the campus redevelopment and expansion improves campus safety.

SUMMARY
The Produce Manager selects prices and merchandises produce products to meet objectives for sales, margin, inventory turns and customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Purchasing
1. Negotiate with suppliers for favorable prices, terms, quality, and delivery.
2. Coordinate sale specials, demos, and utilize available advertising (co-op ads).
3. Evaluate suppliers and investigate new sources of supply.
4. Receive orders, or ensure proper receiving by other staff in accordance with established procedures. Keep accurate receiving records.
5. Coordinate returns and credit from suppliers where applicable. Keep accurate accounting of credit requests.
6. Review invoices for accuracy, break into account codes, and pass on to the finance department.

Merchandising
1. Ensure displays and shelves are fully stocked and rotated. Set stocking priorities for Clerks assisting in Perishable department. Stock items as needed.
2. Plan attractive displays.
3. Conduct periodic comparisons with competitors.
4. Set prices to meet margin goals as set by Management team. Mark down items a needed to reduce losses.

6. Solicit suppliers for promotional offerings in coordination with Ad/Core plans.
7. Provide product information to newsletter, customers, and staff.

Department Maintenance
1. Coordinate storage of items to be returned to suppliers. See that un-saleable items are properly disposed of. Keep accurate shrinkage records.
2. Ensure that department shelves, displays, aisles and storage areas are in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards.
3. Participate in inventory counts ensuring inventorying of department is accurate.
4. Maintain department equipment in working order. Advise Operations Manager of equipment repair, replacement needs, and desired equipment purchases.

Tasks Assigned by the Operations Manager
1. Attend Ad/Core meetings to develop marketing plan, plan promotions and ad campaigns, revise store layout, set store policies and procedures, etc.
2. Participate in setting buyer goals, (margins and sales), add or drop product lines.
3. Participate in the compilation of the annual Capital Expenditures Budget.
4. Review daily and monthly sales reports; look for trends, problem areas, and possible actions to be taken.
5. Train, schedule and supervise member workers in department.
6. Act as an integral part of our participatory management system.
7. Maintain professional standards, i.e. punctuality, neatness, pleasant helpful manner.
8. Cashier as requested by Front End Manager.
9. Act as Shift Leader.

1. Maintain good working relations with other staff.

Store Security and Safety
