Bass Player Needed (on the way to the top)

Hey our band needs a bass player.

We are looking to make it to the top, so you must be serious about helping us make it to the top.

You must be willing to practice two times a week, and be reliable.

You must be able to play your instrument, and follow directions from us.

You must be 21-27 and have a cool look.

You must have good equipment like Fender and Ampeg. One guy we auditioned played a Squier, that will not cut it with us. We are pros and use pro gear. He tried to tell us that new Squiers are good (yeah right, sure). One guy even had the audacity to show up with a Fender copy that had no name on it, and played it through some italian named amp we had never heard of. He said the bass was a Nash or something and that it was made here in Washington. Needless to say, we showed him the door.

Our main influences are R.H.C.P., Sublime, The Mars Volta, and Nirvana. We are true artists, and you must also have artistic influences.

If your interested, please send us an email. We'll read it and then not get back to you, because we have no respect for bass players. Then in a month or so, we'll post another ad saying we need a bass player, and you'll wonder how people so retarded can exist.

My name is Jeff Gray. I am a upright/electric bass player with over 25 years experience playing, and 15 years teaching music. I graduated from the Western Washington music program in 1997 and am comfortable playing numerous styles of music. I mostly work out of Seattle, but live in Bellingham and would like to have some local groups that I can play with as well. Lately I am interested in solidifying a gypsy jazz group that I have been involved in for the last 4 years, or so. For this group, I am seeking a hot picking gypsy guitarist. We have already written a good bit of material for our next CD and are looking for guitarist to collaborate with, write with, and record with. We already have funds set aside for this venture.

I am also available to teach. I am comfortable teaching many different styles from beginner to advanced levels. Auditioning Bass Players (skag/bham)

Do you wanna play bass? Do you wanna play in a band? How 'bout a rock band? How 'bout a hard-rock band? Well, I'm looking for a bass player that does want to be in a hard-rock band! Me and my guitar player are looking for a dedicated bass man (or woman) who is reliable, has a professional disposition, pro gear, and reliable transportation. We need someone who can practice on their own time as well as with us since our schedules are all over the place. I can provide material to learn the songs, and we can help teach you during rehearsals. We're looking to put together a good one hour show and start locally in the bham scene, and work our way into Seattle. And, if possible, it would be nice to do mini-tours down the coast that we produce. All-in-all, it will just be a play-it-by-ear deal.

Anyway, about the music. It's not death metal, and it's not what is being played on the radio. I don't know how else to describe it other than hard-rock. So, email for samples if interested.

Frustrated, Cranky Drummer. Early 40s:

• NOT looking to get discovered, practice 4 nights a week and tour the country. It we're feeling it, once a week is plenty. Twice a month is OK too. We all (hopefully) have other lives and jobs.

• NOT interested in playing your shitty originals you think are going to get you "discovered".

• NOT looking for an excuse to get drunk or stoned every time we try to play music. I do drink. I'll even contribute beer-just don't be a burn out.

• NOT interested in playing covers from groups like Sonic Acid Reflux or some band that no one's ever heard of. Hopefully you've been around and have broad musical interests.

• NOT interested in showing up every week while you learn your instrument. By this point, you should know how to play--or stay home and woodshed until you do.

• NOT interested in death metal.

• NOT interested in driving to West Seattle to play music. Is that really necessary?

Look, here's the deal:

I know Bellingham has great musicians. I've heard them and played with some of them!
- Would like to eventually play maybe a gig a month, summer festivals, etc - but that's not the primary motivator. Jammin' is fine. If something develops and we think people'd want to hear it, I'd be down.
- I'm interested in people who are very good on their instrument(s) and who admire great musicians and aspire to play as well as them.
- Let's play stuff we like to listen to and enjoy playing. (think: your favorite iPod playlist)
- I have practice space but it'd be great if you have a place as well. So my long suffering wife doesn't have to be blown out of the house every week.
-Ever heard The Popoffs? Those boys rock and have a blast. I'd bump off their drummer, but there's probably a better way to start a band.
- Age is not that important but it does tend to influence what music you know. If you're 21, we're probably not into the same tunes, however, having said that, I could be way off.
-I like Funk. Blues. Rock. Prog. Jazz. Fusion. Alt Country. All kinds of music, seriously.
-I'm actually pretty open minded (for instance, I like the mellowness of Death Cab, but I also like the intricacies of King Crimson. Modern, old. doesn't matter as long as it moves us.
What would your ultimate set list look like?

WWU student looking for band to record on Sat. (Bellingham)

I am a student at Western and am in the audio recording program and have full access to a professional recording studio with many mics along with processing gear and a full Soundcraft Ghost mixing board. I have a BA in Communications with a Minor in Music and was for about 3 years a Music Major. I write popular songs, primarily for acoustic instruments but some of my songs are rockers, and can still be done in an acoustic format. Intense love ballads to eclectic songs and rockers.

I need people to populate my band who are not just garage band level or " I only play classic rock" types. If you read music and have played professionally and/or have studio recording experience that is who I want responding to this ad. I will be taking my music and performing it with the intention of playing gigs and hopefully landing a recording contract eventually.

I need:
Bass player electric or stand up bass. Some expereience and have abiltiy to create own bass lines to my music.
Another guitarist, be helpful if you have some lead expereience, and have a little bit of jazz knowledge ( chord extensions and different modes to play in). Electric or acoustic or both. Knowledge of other stringed instruments would be helpful: dobro, mandolin, etc.....
Drummer/percussionist with experience, some keyboard experience would be helpful. If you can keep it tight say like Audio Slaves drummer that is what I need, a player with some chops.
Assorted instruments: harmonica, dobro, steel, madolin, etc.
Singer with experience: low tenor to baritone in range preferred.

I have: one acoustic and one electric guitar and a guitar amp. I'm mostly a rhythm player. I also love to play bass but don't have equipment at the moment. I also play a little drums but also lack equipment. Would love to play once or maybe twice a week with folks who are chill but put their heart into their music. I'm down for some covers, but eventually would like to play mostly originals. My influences, U2, Phish, Neil Young, Paul Simon, Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Death Cab, The Cure, and many more. I'm not a pro, and I'd like to play with people who are creative and have a good ear and intuition rather than mad technical skills. I like simple melodies. Bass Player wanted for good-old Hard Rock (skag/bham)

I'm looking for a bass player to take up the bottom end for me. I'm a 31 year old drummer/songwriter looking to get back into playing music and trying out my songs in the local scene. Currently, I've got about an hours worth of hard rock material that I'm looking to try and form a stage concert around. I've got a 20 year old guitarist who is up for trying his hand at it. I've got a large club size PA system with almost 40 channels of mixing, and 17 stage mics.

I need someone who has pro (LOUD) gear, reliable transportation, reliable personality, and a professional outlook towards music. My life is busy, and I can't get together and practice several hours every other day, so I need people who can practice on their own time as well as with the band. Currently, I'm practicing with the guitar player about once a week. I can provide CDs of all the songs, I can provide just your prospective instrument's tracks, or I can provide a cd with your instrument mixed out so you can play along without having to fight with a duplicate instrument. I can also teach you anything you need help with.

I want to stress that you WILL NOT be told to play anything exactly the way I played it on the CD. Just learn the basics, and add your own style.

I'm looking to start in local clubs and work our way into the Seattle scene. I want the band to be on par, and better than most of the headlining acts that come through town right now. I hope that we can eventually earn a large enough following of fans to host our own local concerts and get away from the control of the bars and clubs.

Established local Gypsy Jazz band with gigs looking for guitarist. Would be great to have someone familiar with this Genre especially the rhythm aspects of la pompe. Regular Jazz guitarists with an interest in this style are encouraged to reply. We are a fun group of laid back guys and are looking forward to a busy gig schedule this upcoming summer. I am an intermediate student of the violin, and attend The National Old Time Fiddle Festival annually in Weiser every year. My wife and I are former residents of Weiser and our families still reside there. Since most of the contestents from western WA who compete are from the Seattle area,(Gary Lee Moore, Pete Martin, Vivian Williams...to name a few) they are too far for me to travel to for lessons. I would like to hear from any student/fiddler/teacher from the Whatcom/Skagit area who would be interested in playing/learning /teaching a serious older student the finer points of this wonderful style of music. Ive been playing drums, specifically death metal/ hardcore for many years. 18 years old and not in school this year, and just moved to the area. If you have any experience with fast paced, challenging metal music please let me know. Hey, I've started a project nearly a year and a half ago called Lockmotive, currently I'm a freshman at WWU and am interested in finding like-minded musicians. I've got a Guitar Player, Now I need a Bassist! (skag/bham)

I'm a 31 year old drummer/songwriter. I've got a bunch of songs just lying around, and I've thought why not pull 12 or more of the good hard rock/heavy metal songs I've got and make a kick-ass one hour rock show out of. I've got a 20 year old guitar player, two PA systems, 19 mics, 59 channels of mixing, all the necessary cabling, recording gear, and more.

I need a bass player, and a front man who has a good range to his vocals. I would also like a second lead guitarist so both guitarists can play off each other.

I need people that are professional. We all have busy schedules, and mine is constantly changing. So, I need people who can practice on their own as well as within the group. I can provide CDs of the material for you to listen to, and I can help you learn whatever you need assistance with. I need you to have pro level (LOUD!) gear, transportation, and be a reliable person. Other than that, I just want everyone to have fun. I don't have a practice space of my own, but that can be worked on. Currently, we're practicing at the guitarist's home.

The goal is to create a show with a band that can hold their own with the pros. I would like to start doing shows locally, and work our way into the Seattle scene. Hopefully, get enough exposure, and enough local fans that we can ditch the clubs and put on our own shows. But, if it never gets that far, that's ok too. Just as long as it's fun and interesting.
