RE: Spending money on pets-Glacierview

$850 to have a tooth pulled??? That's INSANE. My dog had her tooth pulled at a different vet and it was waaaaayyyyyy less than that... In fact, she had shots and a nail trim at the same visit and I paid less than that! It really bothers me that so many people get so judgemental when someone can't afford to pay for expensive procedures for their pets. Ya know, sometimes people who were once financially stable lose their job or something and are no longer able to fork over hundreds of dollars to care for a pet. Where are all these concerned animal lovers when said person tries to find a new home for their pet because they can't afford to care for it anymore? Right there reading CL so they can rip 'em a new one for giving away a family member, right? There are people that do not go to the doctor themselves because they don't have insurance and can't afford to pay for the visit - do these same judgemental people get up in arms about that? I bet not... And what is the alternative for these loved family pets? I think some people need to get off their high horse and get real. In a perfect world we could all afford expensive pet care but we do not live in a perfect world. It's a tough decision to give up a beloved animal but I think when it's motivated by a concern that their pet receive proper care from someone who CAN afford it they deserve support and respect. And vets that take advantage of people and play on our love for our pets to charge exhorbitant fees should be ashamed of themselves. Hopefully word of mouth will get out there about these scam artists and that business will go to more deserving and honest vets.

Looking for a cheap groomer (Bellingham)

Hi, I am looking for a cheap groomer to bring my long haired elderly (he's about 14-15 years old) kitty to. He really needs a good brushing and probably a trim to keep him neat and matt-free. He absoutely hates it when I brush him, though he is always good-mannered. I just can't bring myself to groom him as well or as often as he needs it because I can't stand making him cry and squirm. Does anyone know of a good place I could take him?

Female Quaker parrot (bellingham)

Quaker female for adoption -rehoming fee is $45. Cage can be sold separately it is pretty big and has two doors. It is an A&E flight cage.

This bird was my breeder bird and her mate died during a storm a few weeks ago. He was a healthy male and had no illnesses.
If this bird is to be used as a breeder you MUST pull the babies as soon as they are hatched. Either her or my male killed a set of babies. Now I pull as soon a they hatch and I have not had any problems.
We have 8 birds as well as other animals and a toddler. Without a mate and without being friendly she must go and find a new home, I don't have time to deal with her.
Quakers are NOT apartment birds as they can be very loud. She WILL bite if you try and pet her. She used to be a pet bird but quakers are known for having an attitude and she is no exception. If you have a male she would love to have a friend.
She is a straight green and will produce green babies. My male was blue and they had split babies. I will interview any prospective homes so this is NOT a who ever has the money first gets the bird sort of deal.

CW Bully Breed Rescue Needs Your Help! (Ellensburg, WA)

I am organizing a non-profit Bully Breed shelter in Ellensburg WA, and we are reaching out for many helping hands. I am in need of a representative for each county in Washington, and bordering counties in Oregon and Idaho. Your job won't be hard, and you will get a business email address, and that will pretty much be your job, check the email at the very least once a day. Please email me if you are interested in helping out, being a representative, or just plain spreading the word. The facility will hopefully be up and running, accepting dogs in early 2011, or sooner. We're off to a running start!

• You may be required to house a dog for a few days now and then, so please make sure you either have a large house with friendly dogs, or a decent sized fenced in yard, as many of these counties it might take a day or two to organize someone to come and get the dog.

I will also be needing the representative to keep me up to date on current county laws as they are constantly changing and I do not have the time to keep up with all of these counties laws myself. That will be your first task. :) If you're feeling like you really want to help, I may ask for your number so people can call you directly, instead of people having to call me, then me carry on the message to you. In either case, I would like your number (wether you want to keep it private or not), in case of emergencies for dogs especially in need.

Our 6 year old cat needs a new home. She is perfectly litter box trained, in fact she loves her litter box. Although she has always been an indoor/outdoor cat shre really prefers the warm-cozy indoors, preferably on someone's lap. She is spayed, but still has her claws, up to date on all her shots, and has always been in good health.

We just had a baby and sadly can no longer give her the type of attention she needs and deserves. Our cat is very sweet. She would be the perfect pet for an elderly person (or any loving person) as she loves to be pet and held. We are very open to negotiate the terms of adoption (litter box included).

Statewide Spay/Neuter Help (Washington)

There is a spay/neuter assistance bill that will be reconsidered in the 2010 legislature. This bill would not make spay/neuter mandatory. What it would do is help support the costs of at least 70,000 additional spay/neuter surgeries for dogs and cats every year. We need this to help end the euthanasia of tens of thousands of animals in our shelters statewide each year--animals that are healthy or treatable, but just can't find a home.

Missing Persian Orange and White Copper eyes (Bellingham)

Our Orange and White Persian has been missing for some time from downtown Bellingham. He has been missing for about a month or so and we've been asking around in hopes that we would find him. He is three years old and very very friendly and will walk up to anyone. He purrs no matter what even if you're combing knots out of his fur. He also has copper colored eyes and long fur. Male Albino Ferret + Cage (Bellingham)

I have a young adult male albino ferret that I would like to rehome. I am asking $100 adoption fee to ensure serious pet owners apply only. He has been vet checked and up to date on rabies and distemper vaccinations. His vet records go with him to his new home. Also, his adoption fee includes a large, multi-level cage with rolling wheel base that is almost 6 feet tall when all together (this same cage goes for almost $200 at pet stores), several hammocks and toys, bedding, food, food supplement, treats; everything you need for your new family member! He does well with cats and dogs, and lived with a 10 year old kid in his previous home. He doesn't bite (except for the occasional playful nip) but some research on ferrets will show you that being sprightly is in their nature.
