Controller –Controller needed for a rapidly growing specialty manufacturing/distribution company. The Controller will lead the day-to-day finance and accounting operations for the company and will supervise the accounting staff. This company has made several recent strategic acquisitions to accelerate its growth. This is a tremendous opportunity for someone interested in a dynamic work environment with significant challenges that will lead to increased responsibilities.

Previous public accounting experience and a CPA are strongly preferred. At least 4+ years of relevant controller level (or assistant controller level in a larger company) experience required. A strong professional demeanor and solid communication skills are musts as you will make presentations to the Board, investors, vendors, as well as internal staff. A stable work history and solid references are mandatory.

RESPONSIBILITIES

-Take ownership and identify process improvement opportunities for existing processes and controls, and drive positive change in the organization.
-Ensure all inventory activities are monitored and reported timely and accurately.
-Perform monthly and quarterly management accounting following GAAP.
-Set-up financial systems to ensure appropriate business support and controllership.
-Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
-Understand the inventory control cycle from the purchase order creation to sale of merchandise and provide related accounting support. This includes supporting the financial, inventory, replenishment and merchandise planning and forecasting processes.
-Maintain accurate perpetual inventory records within the current ERP system & sub-systems. This includes reconciliation of all inventory accounts to the general ledger, including analysis and explanation of monthly variances.
-Assist the Distribution Center in complying with all policies related to inventory transactions including receiving, returns, transfers, stock adjustments, and RTV’s.
-Review and analyze credit term agreements with vendors.
-Prepare monthly account reconciliations including trend and variance analysis and journal entries.
-Collaborate with Director of Finance to determine appropriate revenue recognition, capitalization, and expense methods for all business unit contracts.
-Perform month-end and year-end close process, financial reporting, preparation of internal reports, balance sheet analysis.
-Coordinate quarter end and year end audits with external auditors.
-Work on special projects as requested.

REQUIREMENTS
-Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting & inventory control experience in an e-commerce or retail environment.
-CPA and MBA preferred.
-Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
-Experience with automated financial and accounting reporting systems - ERP and CSS preferred.
-Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
-Extensive experience analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports, statements and projections.
-Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, and profitability analysis.
-Bachelors in Accounting or Finance.
-History of building new processes, drafting policies and implementing successful change
-This is a hands-on position and will require someone who can accomplish their work in a dynamic and fluid work environment. The successful individual will also be willing to work at many different levels ranging from administrative duties to executing strategic initiatives.
