Job Developer/Voc Rehab Counselor (Bend area)
Established Vocational Rehabilitation firm based in Portland is expanding services to Central Oregon. We are seeking an Associate who can perform a variety of professional services, including:
1) Job Development –Cold calling and prospecting employers in the area to find job openings that match the capabilities of disabled clients. Sales experience is a plus as is exposure to individuals with disabilities.
2) Job Coaching – Going to work with a disabled adult and helping them learn a new job during the first crucial days of work. Following and supporting them until they have successfully maintained employment for 90 days. Coaching the employer on how best to work with client.
3) Labor market research – Calling employers to research occupations in the area. Developing a list of questions to ask regarding wages, training required, experience, certifications needed, etc. Documenting the findings in a report.
4) Job Analysis-Conducting on-site analyses of job duties and physical demands, and preparing detailed reports to thoroughly describe the job. When needed, will also utilize video recordings or digital cameras to document job requirements.
5) Vocational Evaluation-Assessing an injured workers’ eligibility for vocational services by conducting personal interviews, gathering a complete education/work history to perform a transferable skills analysis, and writing evaluation reports according to Workers’ Compensation rules and regulations. Ability to work with injured workers, employers, attorneys, physicians, and claims examiners, and communicate effectively orally and in writing to implement timely and appropriate vocational rehabilitation services. Potential to become fully certified as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for Oregon Workers’ Compensation.
Our firm has been very successful for over 15 years serving government agencies such as the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Veterans Administration, large employers and insurance companies.
The Associate we hire will work from a home office on a part-time on-call basis to begin. If successful, there will be opportunities to grow. A phone, automobile, and Internet connection are basic tools of the job. Maintaining detailed records of your time and activities and preparing month end reports are essential components of the job. Must have excellent communication skills, flexibility and a commitment to customer service. Knoweldge of disabilities, employment and workers compensation a plus.
