Just published Erie Canal

Hannah Stuart, a local area elementary teacher, has recently written and published a book entitled, Hitches and Ditches on the Erie Canal. Fifteen year old Luke must leave his beloved family to take a job helping to construct the Erie Canal in order to help his family during difficult economic times. Luke is filled with wonder and awe as he discovers the impressive powers behind helping to build one of the greatest marvels of the 19th century. Luke soon discovers that all is not so easy, when he learns that two evil men plan to sabotage the canal. Luke must foil the plot before all of the hard work is destroyed.


It was after Ms. Stuart went looking for the genre of historical fiction related to the construction of the Erie Canal that she realized that this little existed in this area. Ms. Stuart became determined to write a short story to teach her students about the canal and it evolved into a fascinating book that sends readers back in time and turning page after page wanting to learn what will happen to Luke as he encounters the numerous and suspenseful twists of events during his time helping to build the canal. It is Ms. Stuart’s desire that all may learn of the construction of the Erie Canal and the Westward Expansion in an interesting but informative format.

Rolling Stone & Spin magazines (Binghamton) $50

Rolling Stone, almost all issues 1987 - 1990. Spin, most issues 1989 - 1992. 95 issues total. These do have the original mailing label on them and a *very* small number (I'd say half a dozen at most) have pictures cut out of them, but for the most part all issues are in very good shape. 50 bucks gets you the whole lot. For reference, most issues of this era seem to be going for about $5.00 apiece (some for considerably more) on Ebay. I'll be happy to answer any questions about specific issues.
