Class A Plastic Injection Molding Maintenance Mechanic

You must have at least five years of experience independently (with very limit or no supervision) repairing, refurbishing, and maintaining large plastic injection molding machines.

Description Summary :

Install and remove molds from injection molding machines. Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain injection molding machines, molds, and other mechanical equipment used in the molding process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assist in the training of lower level maintenance mechanics.

Set and remove molds from machinery, disassemble machinery and modify, repair and maintain.

Carry tools and equipment to and from storage and working areas.

Oil and grease machines.

Check for electrical, hydraulic and mechanical safety and insure gate operation is safe.

Check hydraulic pumps for abnormal noises or leaks and report to supervisor

Check nozzles for line up with sprue bushing and correct if necessary.

Maintain accurate records for mold setting procedures and auxiliary equipment (mold condition and set up cards).

Clean work area, tools, and equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities :
Responsibilities include assigning, directing and assisting work projects to the B and C mechanics.

Language Skills :
Ability to have a working knowledge of the English language. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills :
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability :
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills and Abilities :
Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical and mechanical needs of machinery. Capable of reading blueprints and schematic drawings of machinery. Basic mechanic tools set required.
