Singer/Songwriter Dreaming Big (Birmingham/Southside)

OK, so I'm a singer/songwriter who has been dreaming big for almost a year, and has yet to find the right personalities to work with.

Most of my influences are progressive/alternative rock (Tool, Manson, NIN, System etc...) however, I am extremely open-minded. I just want to make something new, original and fresh.

What I want:

Personality:
This is priority one. I want people I get along with more then anything, so when we first meet I'd prefer to just hang out and see what happens, before we even get into music.

Passion:
You have to love music and be willing to make it a priority. I want original songs, and I do not intend to play covers in a bar just to "make a quick buck." I also have no big ties to Birmingham, and would prefer to move somewhere with a bigger music scene with the right group of people.

This is very important. You have to be confident, at least half way attractive, and be able to interact with other people. And, I hate to sound biased, but, the younger the better. :-)

If you have those 3 things we should be good. You don't have to be the most talented out there, you just have to want it. Lots of people make it without a lot of talent, they just truly love what they're doing.

I have almost all the equipment needed to get a band going. I own 4 guitars. (1 acoustic, a clean electric, a medium electric, and a grungy electric) A 5 piece drum set, a keyboard, and a soundboard and recording equipment (a PC with several programs) so everything except a bass and a bass amp. I can compensate for the bass amp, but bass players must have your own bass. :-)

I am willing to work with anything and everything except country if you think you fit the bill. (rock, jazz, r&b, hip-hop, blues etc.) I'm even willing to work with other singer/songwriter's.

I'm not well versed in any instruments as I prefer to focus on singing, I think it makes one a better vocalist.

Singer Wanted (Birmingham)

Established Birmingham band is looking for a singer for blues based rock. Influences include Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Bonnie Raitt, SRV, Eric Clapton etc. We also do several blues standards from the classic artists. This band has been established for over five years and has a very capable lineup of seasoned musicians. Due to health reasons our singer has decided to exit the band and we are looking for someone to step in and bring their influence to the group. We have all necessary equipment so that is not an issue.

We realize that the singer (Male or Female) will probably have an influence on the group that will maybe take us in a somewhat different direction and that is fine. As long as the musical quality is there we're willing to consider other influences as well. The group should be a collection of musicians and tastes and we realize that the "new" band may be different from the "old" one. As long as it's Blues, Rock, or Jazz based it's fine with us. Hi,

I am looking to form a blues trio or quartet. I have fished around on here before looking but to no avail. I'm 27, male, white, drug free, and drink a few beers on occasion. If any of that is a problem then you should probably stop reading now. I live in Hayden but I'm looking to play around Birmingham.

I play lead guitar and sing a little bit. I'm looking for a drummer and bass player, preferably one or the other would be able to sing as well. I am not opposed to working with another guitar player, epecially if they sing well. I want to play BLUES. I'm fine with mixing in some classic rock, bluesy rock, or hell..even some country to draw a crowd but my main focus is blues.

I'm also certainly not opposed to joining an existing group. If you're in need, hit me up. I love classic rock and country and even singer/songwriter stuff but my passion is for blues. I haven't lived in the area very long and I'm trying to break into the musician community and I guess I'm going to have to beat my way in. I have a day job that is a career but it is only during the week and I certainly intend to turn this into a gigging group. I love jamming but I want to play out. If you just want to jam that's fine. I wouldn't mind coming to jam with but keep in mind my main focus is to form or join a gigging blues group.

Needed would be a good drummer and at least one guitarist. Fender sounding guitars are best for surf, but don't let that stop you if you don't have one. Keyboard and/or tenor sax would be welcome additions. We won't worry about lyrics at this point, but may end up with a few numbrs to sing, original or cover. Dick Dale, Link Wray, The Ventures and any of that old stuff is great, and there are dozens of excellent surf bands which have followed them, so pick out a few covers you like and bring them to the project.

Age, religion, ethnicity, sex, smoking, booze or other drug habits matter not, so long as you are not a thief or compulsive liar, and it does not affect your attendance or make you play sloppy. Politics is another interest of mine. I am not an Obama supporter, but I'd rather not have to deal with any mouth breathing reactionaries or neo-cons. It wouldn't matter at practice, but I'd like to be on friendly terms with my bandmates, and I am a passionate leftist. Just don't worry about it if you don't care about politics.

Looking for Loud (B'ham)

I haven't played music live or with anyone in several years. I am clearing my plate from some unnecessary projects and would love to play again. I play a little bit of everything (keys, guitar, bass, programing synths, samples, trumpet) I'm a bit rusty on all of them, but they come back like riding a bike. I'm looking for others who want to make some music that is a little off.

Keyboardist needed (bham)

Keyboardist needed for a local cover band. have gigs lined up, looking for extra texture with keyboards. May play originals down the line. We play a wide range of covers, everything from Wilco to David Bowie. Improvisation is a plus, not essential though.
