I am a partially disabled Viet Nam veteran in dire need for a place to live. My current residence has become a problem to me. There are threats of

foreclosure on the private house in which I rent a room. If this occurs, I am out on the street. I have no family or friends that I can turn to in case of an

emergency eviction by the Bank. Plus, the landlady has three pets whose hair has finally broken my will to remain here. In the past 14 months the

power has been turned off three times and water once due to failure of the owner to pay the bills. After the second time I started giving her occasional extra

money for the sole purpose to avoid doing without electricity for days. But, seems she has other priorities than mortgage and utilities.


My disabilities make it extremely difficult to climb stairs and I can only walk short distances without sitting. So, I will need a ground floor entrance or

ramp access. I am interested in a one bedroom apartment or a large studio/efficiency. But, I am willing to consider a room in a private residence with

reasonable conditions. I do not want a long term lease with a lot of fine print, whatevers, howevers, and OH! YES! I forgot to mentions. I am happy with

a six month open end lease or a gentleman's agreement. If you do not trust me, I am willing to pay the six months rent in advance and I expect you to

honor the trust I to put in you.


The location is not important but it MUST be near a bus stop because the bus is my only affordable mode of transportation. Which I depend on to take

conditions. No drunks. No loud music. I also need cable and Internet access (I pay).

Horse Board and Room ( Bloomington)

I'm considering a move to Bloomington to continue school at IU.
I used to attend school in southern Kentucky and had a set-up with a local boarding/training facility that allowed me to work in exchange for pasture board for my horse and a room for myself.

My chores included:
-morning and evening feedings
-daily turn-outs/turn-ins
-stalls cleaned 5 days a week
-lawn mowed weekly
-pastures mowed bi-weekly
-lunging horses or going over basic ground manners if they aren't being ridden
-small repairs
-putting on and removing blankets/flymasks/sheets as need
-holding horses for the farrier or vet

It was not a full-time job because I did attend school and worked a part-time job outside of working for my stay, but I was "on call" all the time if I was needed and worked the chores into my daily routines to get things done.

In exchange I got:
-a place to stay
-a pasture for my horse
-utilities were paid for (electric, and I was tied into the main cable line, and then I paid for my own water)
-round bales were provided for my horse (I bought square bales and feed as needed)

I'm looking to see if there's anyone in Bloomington or in surrounding areas that might have a position similar to this available. I'm still a college student and the move is not definite, but I'd like to be able to continue this sort of daily routine in exchange for board and rent if possible. I of course cover my own auto, health, food and equine related expenses.

If not this, I'd be willing to put in however many hours of work I would need to weekly for reduced or free pasture board. I do not want my mare stalled and I'd rather work off board than pay it in advance when coming to a new town. I cover all her other expenses, just looking for a place for her to stay.
I work her five days a week and she is on a low grain diet most of the year. She us in good health, UTD on vaccines, negative on coggins and her only ground vice is being awful at trailer loading.

They are located on the west side of Bloomington, near Walmart. Really classy haha.
They are pretty nice though. Each bedroom has their own bath and two closets.

There is a $30 application fee. There would be 2 other bills besides rent. Water, which

I’m looking for a place to rent in the b-ton area (my former roommate went and fell in love w/permaculture and a guy in Arkansas last summer, and that leaves me seeking a quality, long-term place). Im hoping my ideal place is available, and I’m open to places that might come close if not. I’m somewhat flexible in what I’m seeking, but Id prefer to be very close to Bloomington (10-15 mins out, maybe a bit more, and possibly on one of the local lakes). Im also very open to having a larger place with a roommate.

About me: I’m currently living in Indy. I’m a certified permaculturist taught by the wonderful and fabulous locals: Peter, Keith, and Rhonda (among others). I’m a 35 y/o PhD/Masters student in Public Health at IU School of Medicine before continuing on to Med School (osteopathic ideally, though I may stay in Bloomington and stay in the IU system). Im looking for something for the next two to three years, plus. Im seeking to come down and be a part of the fabulous Bloomington community (for those that know me, you’ve heard me talking about this for years now…well Im finally making it happen).

What I offer: If one is health-conscious (I am somewhat but still eat some smack too :) ) I also have purified drinking/cooking water, dehydrator, juicer, vitamix, crock pot, and food processor (a lot of stuff for raw foodists, esp.), Wireless Internet equipment. I have a 6' porch swing, and several round glass patio tables & chairs. I also have 3 wonderful and loving cats, so someone who loves cats preferred (no judgment if you don’t). If you have animals, I would want to make sure that your animals are good with cats. I also prefer a non-smoking household if possible. Obviously, I offer rent money as well :)

About my ideal place: Id like a place that has a good yard with good sun, preferably forested (yes Andy, forested), and possibly open to even some room for a forest garden. Wood burning stove/fireplace would be great too. I need at a minimum 900 sf for myself (so a large 1 BR place or small 2BR), and if with another roommate, would like a larger place (3-4 BRs 1300 sf+) with some nice common area. I also have a djembe so a place where one can play music outside (and not offend) maybe around a fire pit, would be great. Id also prefer a large kitchen, a dining room, and maybe even some other common areas that aren’t a living room or den. But again, am really open to places that speak to me. A Basement would be fantastic, even if small.

Timeframe: I probably won’t be able to move until my spring break at the earliest (mid-late march), and am open to keeping an eye out until September rolls around if need be, but would prefer to find something sooner rather than later.
