Adorable kitten in need of loving parents (Normal, IL)

This adorable, loving and playful little baby was crying outside in the cold, wind, and rain in my neighborhood near Parkside Rd. and College Ave. It took me two days to find him and rescue him from the elements, as he kept hiding under the neighbor's yard barn. He's been to the vet--no fleas, ear mites, and I have treated him for worms. I HAD to save the little guy, but we really can't keep him, and he's doing great now after 5 days of a warm house, plenty of food and water, brushing, and LOTS of cuddling, petting, playing, and TLC. If you aren't a kind and gentle person, please don't ask to adopt this little fella, because he's been through enough trauma in his short little life. Only loving, gentle, doting cat-crazy parents need apply. I am happy to foot the vet bill, and I have some litter, food, and toys you may also have. He's about 8 weeks old, according to the vet.

11 month old female great dane (Broadwell, Il)

Harlie is a 11 month great dane. She isn't fixed but is up to date on all shots. Two female rats need a good home (Bloomington)

They are both black and white hooded rats. I am finding them a new home because I can no longer keep them. One is very friendly and curious. The other is little more shy but will come to you if you have treats.

Recently, one has started having trouble breathing, like she has a cold. I don't have the money to take her to the vet. I'm hoping someone could give them a loving home and take care of the ill one.

I want them to go to a home where they will be played with. They are very active girls.

I have about 10 lbs left out of a 15.5 lb bag. My puppy recently died from respiratory arrest :(. I had just bought the bag about a week and a half, maybe 10 days before her passing. Still fresh. APL serves at least a 60 mile radius, sometimes much further. We
currently have foster homes in places like Bloomington, Decatur,
Jacksonville, Lincoln and Taylorville. Most are in the Springfield and
Sangamon County area, but we have been branching out.

APL has a limited number of kennels and clinic runs...nowhere near
enough to house all of the animals in need of care. We rely heavily on
foster homes untill we either have available space or until permanent
homes are found for our dogs and cats.

All medical care, including vaccinations, is provided by an APL vet.
If you need food for your fostered animal(s), just let us know.

Saving Sasha (Bloomington IL)

Some of you may remember seeing Sasha. I am her foster mom and have been trying for months to find a home for her. On Sunday, a potential adopter asked to take her home for a trial period--to make sure she was a good fit for her family. Unfortunately, Sasha escaped from her yard and we've been looking for her ever since.

Today, Sasha was spotted on Interstate 74 near Morton around 9:00 am. By 1:00 pm, she had been hit by a vehicle and left for dead. To whomever hit her--surely you saw her--it was daylight--I wish you would have gotten her medical attention immediately. To Meredith, who did stop to help Sasha....you are an angel. I know how long you sat with her waiting for animal control to come and help her & to track me down. Sasha is now at the vet and we are hoping she will make it through the night. She has multiple fractures in her pelvis. Please know how much it means to me, and I am sure Sasha, that you stopped to help her. Without you, she may have laid there and died all alone on the highway. At least if she does not make it through the night, she will have known your kindness. You are a true angel & I thank you!

I have had the worst week ever!!!! my 3 month old puppy passed away and then my very timid cat ran away! i think im done with animals for awhile until my heart heals but would like to get rid of a few things. i have an almost full bag (15.5 lbs) of purina puppy chow in the blue bag. Please help. I have a female all black cat between 4-5 years old. She's been fixed and is litter trained. She is very sweet and lovable. Never causes any problems. I am also taking care of 3 other cats and a dog. I am in desperate need of finding her a home. A few months ago my friend moved in with her cat. Her cat started fights with mine and beat them up. I have never had any problems with mine getting along. They have always been very good with one another. Well my room mate left but now my cats have singled her out of the group. They chase her away and make her stay in the basement. She has never harmed them so I'm not sure why all of a sudden they pick on her so bad. She is scared to death to come upstairs so I have to go get her and bring her up. It breaks my heart seeing them be mean to her. When they attack her she doesn't even fight back. She tries her best to run away and hide. I have been trying for months to get her a home. All the shelters in Illinois are full as well as the humane socitety. I have been on wait lists for almost 4 months. I have posted ads on here as well. I have had people write me asking questions but then they never respond back. If you are not 100% interested then don't write. Please don't get my hopes up about possibly finding her a good home. I have went through everyone I know and no one wants a cat. Please I'm begging someone to please help. I'm moving this week and need to find her a home as soon as I can.

Beagle mix to good home (bloomington)

Ferret Nation $50 (Bloomington)

This ferret nation has been sitting in my room taking up space for about 2 months. It is modified for rats (what i used it for) or good for sugar gliders. I also use to use this as a bunny cage, which worked out great. Its a model 142.

The cage is suppose to come with 3 ladders, but i can only find 1. The wooden ladders sold at petstores work really good. Also one of the half shelves has vinyl kitchen flooring instead of the hard plastic, i bought it like that, This can easily be replaced by fresh vinyl or some other material you can think of.

The way its set up in the pics is the way i used it to divided the top and the bottom, but just switching the shelves around makes it completely open.
The doors work really good, they dont stick or anything. I am asking $50. I really want this thing out of my bedroom. (it cost like 179.99 brand new off of ferret.com) Im pretty sure this cage will come apart for easy transportation but i havent tried since i've modified it. Its also on wheels.

It's in bad taste to generalize everyone who tries to rehome their pet. Yes, there are WAY too many people who treat their pets as disposable, but would you rather have them dump them on the streets, or try to find a loving home who can give the animal all the love and care that they themselves cannot, for whatever reason? I work at an animal shelter, and believe me, I have seen many stupid reasons for giving up an animal, I've even seen a kitten get dumped for "purring too loudly!" I have also seen firsthand abandoned or neglected animals starved, abused, or thrown out of moving trucks, because the people didn't bother to "get rid of" the animal they obviously didn't want anymore.

But I have also seen desperation and heartbreak from many people who have exhausted all options and are left with no other choice.

Example:
If you are a smoker and want to rent a hotel
room, you will want to book a "SMOKING ROOM."
Unfortunately, all the smoking rooms are already booked.
There are a few smoking rooms at the more expensive hotels, but they are way out of your price range.
You could stay with a family member, but they absolutely abhor smoking and turn you away, unless you are willing to give up smoking forever.
There is a good friend in town who opens their home for you, but unfortunately their daughter is severely allergic to smoke.
Not so simple now, is it?

Giving up an animal is not a decision to be made lightly, but self-righteous assumptions are not going to help the situation.

Suppose you have a beloved elderly pet, and your aging father across the country takes deathly ill. You must spend several months traveling between your underpaying job and your father's side. Your beloved pet, your best friend, is too old to travel with you. You could be selfish and keep him in a noisy kennel for months and months on end, if only you can find the money, but you know that that is no way to spend his declining years, and your friends, while willing, simply do not have the time to take him in. You must make the heartwrenching decision to give him up to a family that can offer him a loving, stable and comfortable place to live out the rest of his life, rather than selfishly keeping him on the backburner till you get home.

I have seen scenes of people relinquishing pets that have made me myself cry, and I have heard their desperate stories of how hard they fought to keep them, which makes it that much harder to give them up.

This site is used by people looking to dump their pets quickly because they want to turn a profit or have merely lost interest, but it is also a place for brokenhearted people to try and do right by their 4 legged family members and find someone who can give what they could not.

Do not lump them all together so viciously.
