Canyon County Emmission (Boise)

Canyon County has always thought they were "SPECIAL" and did not need Emission Testing on their vehichles! Well if thats the way they feel, they do not need to be over in Boise working everyday, and polluting our air even more! And I know there is tons of them over here during the week working. Maybe they need to quit their jobs here and stay where they belong. And what gives the county over there the right to say they aren't getting their vehichles emmisioned.? Are they being run by the illegal aliens the county is full of? Its pretty stupid of this state to have emmission in Ada County only and not required in the other 43 counties. What a Big Rip Off!!!! And if they do get emmision there it will cost only $11.00!!!!! Thats not fair and they know it. And we got a rate hike this year for our emmisons. Of course Ada County has always enjoyed stabbing us in the back and pockets!

Foreign high school students coming to Nampa (Nampa)

Exchange students will be coming to the Nampa area next school year (2010/2011). We have some attending Skyview High School, Liberty Charter and Idaho Arts Charter.
Students may stay for a semester or full year, speak English, have their own spending money and health insurance.

How is the motorcycle victum doing? (Boise,Victory rd)

Yesterday at 2:30pm 2/23/10 a Tuesday, I helped direct traffic,in front of the Boise School District on Victory Rd( also in front of United Water),between Maplegrove and Cole rd.I didn't see the positions of the RED suv or the motorcycle before the crash,but I did see the second of impact.with motorcycle rider flying threw the air,and rolling several times,like a limp ragdoll.Helmet,shoes,and bike parts scattering everywhere.
Please, if anyone knows this young man(whom Im guessing went to the tech center,or Frank Church High School,as a student, please let me know how he is doing.He was alert,and it didn't appear like he had a severe head injury,but one never knows. I am a concerned mom, and my prayers go out to all involved.

My Skills=Good Pay! (You want to pay me how much?)

Are you sick and tired of getting the run around of all these job scams and idaho businesses promising great things! Are you looking for work and wanting to get paid what your worth. Well maybe you feel like thousands of other Idahoans do. I saw an ad for someone looking for a Licensed Plumber and the company wanted him for $15 per hr. Well 1-Plumber wrote back and said are you @%$ crazy. Other ads are looking for journeyman painters, framers, drywallers, roofers and so on that are wanting to pay day labor non-skilled wages, are you @#$% crazy. I have been in the Construction industry for over 25 years and I am amazed at what company's, property managers, investors, induviduals or even homeowners are trying to pay workers, and in a right to work state they know they can get away with it. In AZ, I just read in the Newspaper that the state is fining the Businesses owners and induviduals who are hiring illigals $5k per illigal head for the 1st offense, $10k per for the 2nd offense, and loss of Business License and jail time. It's about time Idaho woke up before this really messes up our economy. You eventually will have to hire children to do the work for the wages these companies, ect. are really truly wanting to pay.

I say all this to say this. There is hope for us all! Yes, some of us are mad, upset, angry, bankrupt, forclosed, divorced, ect, and would like to take things into our own hands as some have and have broken the law which is not right, but I would like to show you what I found in the Bible the other day that amazed me and it is a warning to the rich oppressors.

WOW! You see God will take care of them for shorting, ripping and scamming all us workers who just want to get paid what we are worth, either by years of experience or education.

I am a former employee that feels that they need to change their practices so that they do not harass any more employees. It was the worst job i have ever had, i could never do enough and was harassed on a daily basis, nothing is good enough, and if you do not quit from constant harassment, they will eventually fire you. Good News !!!!! You will get unemployment!!!!!!!

Cleaner air has the 21-year-old El Paso County emissions testing program choking and sputtering to the finish line: As of Jan. 1, it will be gone.

But hold off on the celebration.

Vehicle owners still will have to pay for emissions tests if their registration renewals say they're due for the inspection before the end of the year.

It doesn't matter that the air in Colorado Springs has not violated the federal standard for carbon monoxide in almost 18 years. It doesn't matter that no one thinks the test is necessary.

"Unfortunately, everyone is going to be upset here," said Bob Becker, the motor vehicle manager for El Paso County. "This is pretty silly, but I work for the state, and I have to do what they tell me to do."


An emissions test valid for two years costs $25 in most of El Paso County, but a portion on the east end of the county has never been included in the area where testing was required.

Becker had to have his own car tested a week ago.

The state started requiring emissions tests and applying other strategies in 1982 to help improve air quality along the Front Range. Unlike many communities with emissions pro- grams, El Paso County focused on carbon monoxide more than ozone gas.

Since then, better-quality gasoline and cars have made emissions cleaner and the level of carbon monoxide in the air has decreased, said Doug Decker, an environmental protection specialist with the Air Pollution Control Division of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Officials have debated ditching the program for a while, but it wasn't until 2005 that they decided to do away with El Paso County's emissions program.

NAMPA -- Emissions testing is coming to Canyon County and commissioners went on the record today in strong opposition of the state's program.

Whit's Auto Repair in Nampa is one of 22 new locations where local residents will soon have to get their cars tested.

They won't see a red van like in Ada County. Instead, motorists will drive up to a bay and get tested.

The Department of Environment Quality says there will be 20 emissions testing locations in Canyon County and two in Kuna.

The cost of testing will be no more than $11. Cars will only have to be tested every other year starting June 1.

Electric and hybrid cars will be exempt, but cars less than five years old or with a model year of 1981 and newer are required to test.

DEQ says their goal was to develop a program that would be both convenient and reasonably priced.

Canyon County commissioners don't agree with the DEQ's plans.

Commissioner Steve Rule stood with mayors from Wilder and Parma and said they strongly oppose the testing.

Rule says no data has been provided to him that shows that emissions testing works, and he says Canyon County residents don't want it.

Rule says the county won't be testing their fleet of 200 vehicles even though they fall under DEQ's requirements for getting an emissions test.

"We're not going to do it," Rule said.

Rule said commissioners sent a letter to the director at DEQ and hopes this small act of civil disobedience will get his attention.

In the meantime, emissions testing is scheduled to start in Canyon County on June 1.
