Hey-

We're Emerson College students shooting an independent film called "Get Happy!". Unfortunately, one of our actresses has dropped out at the last second due to a personal emergency and we're seeking a woman between the ages of 28 and 40 to replace her.

The movie is about a young man in a downward spiral following a bad break-up. He meets the character of the Single Mother at a bar halfway through the film and they sleep together. At the end of the film, he and his friends bring a boy home after a heart to heart, only to discover that he's her child.

The film is festival quality and we're already in talks with a distributor. All we need now is you.

re: Political and literary magazine internship (Under rocks)

Evidently Boston Review's opinion about scamming students for free labor is that it works for them. That just doesn't seem politically correct.

Clearly Boston Review is making it on free labor. Just go to bostonreview.net/about/internships and see that these internships are actual jobs necessary for their business success. Non profit isn't a ticket to free labor, nor are internships. If they are so politically sensitive, why are they taking advantage of students by not paying them for their hard labor? Full time work for no wages? How are these people supposed to live? Why do interns need to invest in Boston Review? These are not watch and learn jobs, these are essential positions which require existing skills.

It is against federal labor law to not pay workers who do work that benefits the company in any way.

Unfortunately there are many out there who, due to naivete and unfortunate economic circumstances, will take these jobs for no pay. I hope they sue these greedy scumbags right out of business after their work goes unpaid.

A bit about us:

We’re both in our twenties with education degrees and a combined 6 years of time in classrooms. Together, we have worked with students in grades 2 through 12, including special education students. We’re educated, well-traveled, enjoy working one-on-one or in small groups with kids and young adults, and have a wide variety of experiences and knowledge to pass along in many subjects.

Additionally, we have experience and tools which would be beneficial in light remodels, home improvements, and property maintenance. We have experience in other areas as well if you’d like to ask about something specific.

We’re both changing careers and intend to take classes at Harvard in the fall. However, we plan to move to the Cambridge area well before classes begin, in either December or January.

Is it possible that there’s a person or family who can offer private housing in exchange for or partial exchange for work that utilizes our skills? The specifics of the arrangement would largely depend upon the amount and type of work you would need from us and the housing being offered, but the more important place to start would likely be finding out if we’re a good fit for your situation.

Cambridge Ordinance requires that all property owners:

Remove snow from all sidewalks next to their property or business within 12 hours after snow stops falling in the daytime, and before 1 p.m. when the snow has fallen during the night.
Make the path wide enough for someone using wheelchair, walker or stroller (at least 3 feet, preferably 4 feet).

Stock up on ice melter before a storm.
Use ice melter with calcium chloride (CaCl2), which is the best choice for the environment and only a small amount is required to melt ice. Potassium chloride (KCl) is okay, too.
Avoid rock salt (NaCl or sodium chloride), which kills plants and trees.
Do not use sand. It doesn’t help pedestrians; but it makes hard ice more slippery. It gets into street drains and is expensive to clean up in the spring.
Remember that, for people on foot, ice can be worse then snow. It can cause dangerous falls. You are as responsible for ice as you are for snow.

We are working on a project and need a very unusual subject to photograph.This past week the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force raised the recommended age for the commencement of yearly mammograms from 40 years old to 50 years old. We need to photograph a woman between the ages of 40 & 50 who has gone through a mastectomy - preferably a radical mastectomy (the more recent the better). As I write, the insurance companies are meeting with hospitals "renegotiating" - saying that in the very near future they will not cover mammograms until a woman reaches age 50! The subject of this photo would be photographed (tastefully) from the neck down to her midriff and the woman being photographed will not be identified - ever. The subject must be willing to sign a release allowing use of the photo. The first use will be an e-mailer followed by billboards pleading the case for continued coverage of mammograms from age 40 and attempt to turn the tide of this ugly and discriminatory recommendation, This photo shoot pays $200.00.
